Indeed. For this launch, AMD focused a lot more on refinements and improvements, rather than a completely new architecture. rclxms.gif

most ppl only focus on performance.. less in power efficiency and let aside for the movie related, transcoding etc.. should look it in the whole package..

gpu now not only for gaming..

Added on October 22, 2010, 2:22 pmok that's the bright side.. must admit..
HD3D not that promising and maybe lack of physx features..

for 3d gaming/movie etc require us another gadget (eg:3d glasses, 3d monitors).. which cost more.. at last less ppl care..

physx - well how often need those.. i'm not dying if not see flying debris and residue.. there are alot more things to enjoy..

What interest me are not the cards but more on Crossfire scaling..
How come 2 HD 6870 outperforms HD 5870 CF/HD 5970? Something strange and fishy here whistling.gif

and to my dissappointment, ATI actually work closely with nvidia to screw us buyer.. abo how nvidia get the 6970 and benchmark it before it release? so regret I support ATI all these time.. going back to Intel IGP!!!

I think 6850 1GB is about same as 460 1GB, 6870 should be better than 460. So it's all down to price now.
But DX11 games still runs better on 460 i think...Dirt 2 shows much better results than 6850.

dis is sweet......
u hav to look @ the performance on resolution dat matters.
see the techpowerup performance summary on each resolution.

ATI AMD done well wit their card here.
6850, which targeted @ 1680*1050 is on far, if not slightly faster den GTX460 1GB.
& on full HD, 1920*1080 (look @ 1920*1200 instead coz closest comparison), 6870 is as fast as gtx470.

68xx naming confuse me. They should renamed it as 6770 0r 6750. I'm still waiting for 69xx flagship series.

Indeed. I thought 6870 was to replace 5870. Anyway 6970 will only be a 5870? Where will 5970 be then? 6990?
