I doubt it.

QUOTE
It is not a limit, it is the specifications for PCI-E. To stay complaint with the PCI-E specs, a single card can not exceed 300W. That is why the 5970 is underclocked and under volted, so that it does not exceed 300W. However, ATI gives you all the tools you need to increase the voltage and clock it to the 5870 speed.

Source: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/279203-33-what-watt-limit

QUOTE
It's 75W through the slot, 75W per 6-pin PCIe and 150W through the 8-pin PCIe. Period.

Source: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=181536

Things might change with the PCI Express 3.0 specifications, but that is due out the end of this year and so won't be implemented until some time after.

people assume it dat way bcoz:

pcie lane - supply 75w
6 pin connector - supply 75w
8 pin connect - supply 150w
total = 300w

just bcoz people see 6970 is 6+8 pin, people assume it's gonna draw 300w.

ATI AMD Radeon guys simply just wanna mek sure it has room to oc la.

just mean it using 8+6 pin power connector, doesnt mean it will draw 300w, like people say, gtx480 tdp are 300w, but real load are 225w. Some people said that hd5850(2x6pin) can be run on one 6 pin connector, but it doesnt have power left for oc

what is ur mobo model?

AMD chipset....if just single card (not SLI) i think AMD chipset should be no prob to handle ur GTX260 or other 'green side' card
last time using GTX280 on my AMD870 chipset w/o any prob. but if dual mode just support CFx only.

HD5770 CF u can get low price (if used item) and u will get performance par HD5870..less or better might be.

but why not u just go through for HD68xx series hmm.gif
