Just take care of physical placement. Make sure not too near with any surface, especially plastic that can melt.

It's depend on many factors to determine the numbers of down lights you need like the ceiling height, the overall interior wall surface color, light bulb wattage and the lighting ambiance you prefer.....

If you just plan to switch on your dining lighting occasionally and prefer a brighter ambiance, you might need 8 nos of down lights.

If prefer hotel style ambience, 6 nos down lights with the 2 dining lightings might enough....

Just a suggestion

Hi. Newbie here wanna ask questions about lighting..

1. Is there any basic standard as to which area should have warm white/cool white/daylight?

2. Is it advisable to buy a downlight which can produce 3 different whites? Switch on 1st time = warm, switch on 2nd time = cool, 3rd time = bright.

3. Example, my living room is about 17 x 15 feet, and I'm planning to put L-box plaster ceiling, how do I know how many downlights are needed for sufficient lighting? There'll be downlights, T5 and also surface mounted light (lampu design cantik for asthetic purposes).

Sifu sifu! I need recommendations for light shops in Klang Valley with a wide selection - specifically ones with architectural/modern lightings.

I'll attach my lighting selection and layout - in the spoiler box below. Feel free to comment on my selection or better yet if you have any recommendations, I'll appreciate it.

Does anybody knows the labor fee for light installation from Ikea? I wanna buy a few Ikea pendant lights and ask them to install for me on my vault ceiling (23' high).

guys, how do I install track light if the lighting point is in the middle instead of at the end? Is there any accessories to accommodate this situation?

if you don't have plaster ceiling only way is use exposed conduit. there are some stylish conduits but cost alot more. if you don't mind the industrial look normal PVC or metal conduit works too.

since you are using track lights, the tracks already have the industrial look (a.k.a non-aesthetic look), so using a conduit to cover the wires aren't so bad. you just need to get some wires to extend the wires from original point to the near the end.

there is another way but it may or may not work, is get an electrician to try to trace the existing conduit to see if it leads to any round box near the end area that way you can (if the conduit still has space) route the extended wires via that conduit to nearer to the end. this method requires the "whack a mole" approach where they use hammer to knock out the plaster where the existing wire is to expose the round box, use fish net to trace the wire to see if there's any round box near the end, then use hammer to hit the ceiling to expose the box then use the fish wire to pull the extension wires there. how close it can be depends on the original layout.

if you live in condo, i don't think hacking the ceiling to conceal the wires is a good idea, nor is it legal. but a member here did it. floor is load bearing, i don't think you can hack them. may also cause problem to the unit above if it's toilet or bathroom, waterproof layer may crack due to vibration.

then once done you have to patch back the holes using cement & plaster then repaint the ceiling.

so easiest approach would be use exposed conduit. something like coffee shops and restaurants.

Simple - use two tracks , end to end. Pass the wires thru.
I did that without having to relocate the wires
There are accessories as well but it might be difficult to find them here locally
Dunno if this can fit your track - https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32494382965.h...e-feed-aluminum

Are wide angled GU10 LED bulbs available locally? I am planning track lights for living /dining rooms. Have just started searching online but can't seem to find any. Need 60 degree or above.

For me even 36° is too wide. Prefer narrower beam for more shadowy effect. The wider the beam, the more even the lighting. Pools of light is much more pleasant

Anyway I found 180° - https://www.lazada.com.my/550lm-6w-85-265v-...0180225012716:s
