Seems from the internet some people has no issue on this as well. Could it be the way its manufacture this phone, some are well placed; thus the antenna problem doesn't exist.

Well, hopefully the 2nd batch of iPhone 4 can solve all the iPhone with reception issue.

Sadly to say, 2nd batch iphones have same antenna issue if not worse. I couldn't proof it to you but report from forums across UK saying the situation gets worse. We even have our own forumer that returned the iphone due to poor signal.

it is still the same problem on the 2nd batch. just got it yesterday. Took me a hassle to secure one.

problem does not arrise if you use it normally. probably just drop 1 bar maybe but if you do a grip covering bottom part of the phone you will experience signal problem.

P/S: Please don't PM me if I want to sell it. I have enuff of PM asking about it since launch date. kthxbai :3

If Apple decides to keep the same antenna design for its next iPhone, it will probably adopt the IvySkin look. It reminds me of how they designed their iMac.

By saying worse I mean more ppl are having this problem and probably weak signal. I was the one with weak signal even with my silicone case on. I went for a refund yesterday and put in another pre order hoping I will get a better unit next coming batch.

If you ask me why I didnt settle for a replacement...the ppl there refuse to acknowledge the problem and keep saying software update will fix it. But I said its not just the gripping part but I am constantly getting weak signal without even holding the antenna segment with my right hand. They just said all they can do is to slot me in to one of the Genius bar appointment in the coming days to see if they can do anything about it. I refused becos I know they are going to dish out the same old pending 'software fix' excuse again. So y wait when u can just put another pre order in place and get a new unit rather having them looking over it n say the kind of think u have already expected?

Or worse.....they send ur unit in just to repair....no way I am going to let them do that do a new unit cos it is going to tick me off by even holding a unit like that in my hand......

OT abit.

Most smartphone in UK are locked tied to contract. iPhone 4 is a first case where an iphone is available unlocked from apple store. but history of phone prices suggests that the sim free smartphones are really expensive here if you want it brand new. I think there should be nexus one sim free but they would probably fetch from the price of 500-600 pounds.

Yeah fluctuating n weak reception. I didnt even do a proper death grip (I didnt grip it tight) I just hold it with my left palm and the signal will drop to just one bar or no service. When back for a refund tho.

iPhone 4 users reporting new trade-in units have no antenna problems - Tweaktown

Some readers over at Gizmodo are reporting that after exchanging their iPhone 4 with a new unit that the antenna problems have disappeared. Some people out there believe that this is due to a “silent recall” by Apple and new units are being swapped into stores that have the hardwareissues fixed. Readers are claiming that “their iPhones no longer have problems with voice quality degradation, call drops, slow data transmission, or no internet access.” Chck the Source Link for constantly updated reader stories and find a way to get your iPhone traded in; you may be lucky enough to get your problems fixed.

Signal degradation is already apparent when I stepped off LAX airport just now. Without even squeezing and gripping the iPhone 4, I get a "No Service" message. Once we moved to the boulevard heading to the hotel the signal improved to a max of 3 bars only. Squeezing the iPhone without bumpers, I finally see the signal drop to zero in less than a minute. But the weird thing is, when the signal bar drop to 1 bar, i still can connect to my Celcom voicemail. Yes, I dialed home.

With the Bumper case, the signal never drops. In KL and Taipei, no matter how hard I squeeze, signal never degrades.

What does this all mean? You do the math. The only thing this happens is when Im in USA, on AT&T. It did not happen when Im in Taipei on Chunghwa Telecom, or when Im in KL on Celcom.

I guess its the way AT&T signal bar is calculated in iPhone 4 as claimed by Apple. Other telco not affected maybe their calculations are more accurate?

I can understand now why these Americans would freak out with regards to these signal degradations. But I still think this is an issue blown out of proportion. I mean, sure the signal strength indicator indicated a drop, but even so call still go out. Why such vigorous push for this? I think the instigating parties that is blowing this issue up wants Apple to move away from AT&T and start considering an alternative telco like Verizon.

Yup agreed. I think the whole thing has just been blown out of proportion. My paranoid mind has even wondered if Apple haters have had anything to do with it, everyone jumping in on the bandwagon. It sort of reminds me of when every Tom d*** and Harry were predicting Apple's bankruptcy before Steve Jobs came back as CEO. Kind of like a fashion trend.

I will be glad to leave all this behind after the announcement Friday.
