From engadget...
Hey Apple, you're holding it wrong ![]() We're only holding it in the way that you showed us. see, even in the ip4 promo hold it that way without problems but Steve Jobs said we hold it in wrong way?? i think the bar reception in this promo is only photoshop coz the the call will drop if used like that. I love ip4 but apple just denied about the problem & blame us, now waiting for review in msia and see the result. If there is no reception issue, i will get it... |

QUOTE(Masamune @ Jul 6 2010, 10:06 PM) Sorry..i forget to mentioned i've cut my maxis sim card and using it now. oh bad news, i plan to buy iphone4 but this is just not good.No problem on the table just when i hold it. The bars slowly go down one by one till it reaches 1. When i put it back on the table it goes back up to max. Do you said that using silicon case also got the problem too?? I rather like it naked without casing... I thought this problem just for AT&T network and not effect other telco... |

QUOTE(chizzu @ Jul 14 2010, 05:40 PM) Sadly to say, 2nd batch iphones have same antenna issue if not worse. I couldn't proof it to you but report from forums across UK saying the situation gets worse. We even have our own forumer that returned the iphone due to poor signal. you already test the new batch?? |

more bad news, US Senator Hammers iPhone 4 Antenna Problem In Letter to Steve Jobs
QUOTE July 15, 2010 Dear Mr. Jobs, I write to express concern regarding the reception problem with the Apple iPhone 4. While I commend Apple's innovative approach to mobile technology and appreciate its service to millions of iPhone users nationwide, I believe it is incumbent upon Apple to address this flaw in a transparent manner. According to Consumer Reports' review, released Monday on its website, the iPhone 4's signal-strength problem is a hardwire glitch triggered by gripping the device in a particular manner. This finding, according to Consumer Reports, "call[s] into question" Apple's recent claim that the problem is "largely an optical illusion caused by faulty software." Consumer Reports declined to recommend the iPhone 4 because of this hardware design flaw. Given the discrepancy between Consumer Reports' explanation of the reception problem and the explanation provided by Apple in its July 2 letter to customers, I am concerned that the nearly two million purchasers of the iPhone 4 may not have complete information about the quality of the product they have purchased. The burden for consumers caused by this glitch, combined with the confusion over its cause and how it will be fixed, has the potential to undermine the many benefits of this innovative device. To address this concern, I ask that Apple provide iPhone 4 customers with a clearly written explanation of the cause of the reception problem and make a public commitment to remedy it free-of-charge. The solutions offered to date by Apple for dealing with the so-called "death grip" malfunction-such as holding the device differently, or buying a cover for it-seem to be insufficient. These proposed solutions would unfairly place the burden on consumers for resolving a problem they were not aware of when they purchased their phones. I also encourage Apple to keep its promise to provide free software updates so that bars displayed accurately reflect signal strength; I further urge Apple to issue a written explanation of the formula it uses to calculate bar strength, so that consumers can once again trust the product that they have invested in. I look forward to Apple's swift action on this matter, and once again laud Apple for its innovative efforts and service to millions of Americans. Sincerely, Charles E. Schumer link Read more |

QUOTE(giovanni @ Jul 17 2010, 10:48 AM) Wow wow wow...chill ppl. Don't want another bout of war. This is a forum and everyone has right to voice his/her opinion. To be fair, all I see is a bunch of potential owners (most if not all) raising their concerns over a problem that really exists. +1 , i love iphone but i also love android platform. I just choose whatever that suit meThey have every right to do so because it's their hard earned money and they hope the investment is worth it. This isn't an Apple bashing party and I don't see this sort of element here at all. Go and read the Apple Insider forum ....that's what i call bashing and name calling..... So please....chill!! Now don't bomb me for trying to maintain peace V i not fanboy for either one. I just want my phone to function well when i bought it later... |
