I certainly hope mine will not have any issue once I got it this or next week. I am waiting for Apple to contact me. Again...if there is any issue, just go back to get a refund or exchange for a new set. Easy as that! smile.gif

Just my two cents!

I am experiencing the antenna problem over here in UK. But with my silicone case on its fine. I still love it nevertheless. Waiting for the update from Apple. If it doesnt fix it then I am heading back to Apple.

Whether or not it depends on TELCO I am not sure but apparently I am not the only one experiencing it at the moment. By the way I just got my Iphone4 yesterday and played until 2am this morning!

Retinal display is absolutely brilliant! Hope this will paint the right picture

I returned mine today and settled for a refund since they keep insisting it is a software issue and didnt want to give me a replacement. Then I place another pre order on the spot smile.gif

The way to settle things if u get a defective unit. So there is really nothing to worry about. If u dun like it dun buy or just get a refund. I would have settled for the unit if everyone else is having the antenna problem. But since like it only occurs to selected units.....thats y I tak mau la...hahah.

Guys....at the end of the day u r the boss of ur own money, if u r over skeptical over this issue.....I suggest dun buy. If you can live with that issue, then buy. My personal comment on Iphone 4: Awesome, brilliant and responsive. I am definitely going to wait for another two weeks for that!

Hi Guys, I'd like to ask:

1. I see alot of forumers already have their units of iPhone4. May I know where did most of them bought it from? And around what price?

2. I'm in Europe right now and it seems they sell the iPhone4 (unlocked) for €625 (16GB) which is about RM2.5k. Is it safe to buy the unit let's say from Rome Italy?
*
1. Mostly from UK or US
2. Consider yourself lucky if u can get one becos most stores are out of stock or the stocks are reserved for ppl in the priority list. Rm2.5k is ok but u have to bear in mind that u cant claim warranty once u bring it back to malaysia

My set does display some reception issue, if only if when it is being gripped tightly and securely, I seriously mean tightly, more of like squeezing it with my right hand.  And the signal will drop to one bar, but never out of service.

I take it as O2 reception is good enough in UK, hence only a minor issue for me and my set. More of psychological effect of knowing the presence of such issue, rather than the annoyance caused by such issue/flaw/defect whatever you want to call it.

Tried to replicate problems we saw over the net, where even a finger touching the area will cause drop of signal, but doesn't happened to my set, unless like mentioned above, when the iphone is strangled.

Anyhow, whatever the issue is, I have no regret of owning it, and love it actually. The brilliant display itself anytime overcome/cover up the so called reception flaw to me.

What do you mean it gets worse? Either the problem's there or not, right?
*
By saying worse I mean more ppl are having this problem and probably weak signal. I was the one with weak signal even with my silicone case on. I went for a refund yesterday and put in another pre order hoping I will get a better unit next coming batch.

If you ask me why I didnt settle for a replacement...the ppl there refuse to acknowledge the problem and keep saying software update will fix it. But I said its not just the gripping part but I am constantly getting weak signal without even holding the antenna segment with my right hand. They just said all they can do is to slot me in to one of the Genius bar appointment in the coming days to see if they can do anything about it. I refused becos I know they are going to dish out the same old pending 'software fix' excuse again. So y wait when u can just put another pre order in place and get a new unit rather having them looking over it n say the kind of think u have already expected?

Or worse.....they send ur unit in just to repair....no way I am going to let them do that do a new unit cos it is going to tick me off by even holding a unit like that in my hand......

Second week delivery from O2.

Is yours that bad, dropped reception when you touch it?
*
Yeah fluctuating n weak reception. I didnt even do a proper death grip (I didnt grip it tight) I just hold it with my left palm and the signal will drop to just one bar or no service. When back for a refund tho.

Just hope they will offer a satisfactory solution. Apple has already put on the stupid look since its top employee made the first "you are holding it wrong" public statement.

Now let's see how they can make themselves look less stupid

It's time to smash their strongly fortified ego!!! Apple, you are not invincible. Just admit the flaw, rectify it and get on with life! We still love your Iphone 4 as much as before and in fact even more once you do away with the much scrutinised flaw.

They might be trying to depress the bar so the fluctuation wont b so obvious. I am just speculating tho. smile.gif But it still doesnt solve the antenna problem. They have to answer for that and that's for sure.

I didn't harbor much hope anyway for their software update since we all know it's a hardware issue. I was just secretly hoping they could do some 'magic' that really tweaks the hardware via software update.....

I think Apple doesnt want to publicly acknowledge the issue but has secretly worked on replacing the antennae of new batches of iphones since 24th of June. Again Im only speculating. Can you show me the sites where they r doing the recall bro? I am interested to read on that

It still didnt address the issue nevertheless. Just maybe add a little tweak to make it more accurate. Try standing outdoor to see if u can get full bar.

LOL!!! its realli funny to se u guys, with this bars and dat bars...wut i see, let us get a candy bar & enjoy while playing with your new toy...

wut i think is, either u get full bar or not, as long as u can make & receive calls without any problems, then it'll be ok..i'm sure after 1 or 2 more firmware update, everything will be ok..just like nokia 5800XM i'm using now...for instance, when i bought it, there's not any problem but after i've upgraded a few batch of firmware, the phone is getting smoother & even the camera quality is way better ( try find 5800xm thread @ LYN)...

Guys, Apple or Nokia, software do have bugs & upgrade will sure fix some..just give them times..
*
That is such a gross simplification of the whole scenario bro. It's not software flaw but hardware flaw.

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jul 17 2010, 02:37 AM)
however the percentage of complaint  came from calls only right?
not many ppl will call apple and complain..maybe most of them post it at internet, forum, discussion board, etc to complain about it...
*
Yes, you are right and very right in this matter. I am affected. I walked back n talked to them. Didnt see them taking down my details either. When I asked them again whether others are experiencing the same thing he said yes. Asked another lady, she said honestly, almost every unit sold has problem. But I dont think such data were even passed to Steve Jobs. So I have to say the figures given are less than accurate in fact not at all! shakehead.gif
