what about at a cineplex.. Justin ... can Astro arrange?

Different broadcast rights involved of which Astro does not own. Give GSC a call and hassle them to do it. Would be a great a party to see it in a cinema wouldn't it.

it would be freakin' awesome... LYN would be in a better position to organize and pressure GSC or TGV.

Any administrators here wanna pick up the ball and run with it? I will buy a ticket

So, if I use a simple 3D glasses with Red and Green lens, will it convert to 3D image to our eyes?

Added on July 7, 2010, 2:44 amAstro is doing a 3D screening right now of the game for the press and will broadcast the Final in 3D LIVE to the B.yond decoder.

Naturally you need a 3DTV connected to B.yond to experience it

Sorry mate, that is not going to work

You need a 3DTV with active glasses.

Oh, I C... So, how do you know?smile.gif

That question is rather ambiguous as there are two answers that I can give: 1) I know because I tried all of the commercially available systems; 2) All of the active glasses flickered in MY experience.

You just have to get organized. Get a football club or a huge number of World Cup fans to call GSC or TGV about doing a 3D screening for the final. Don't call the phone reservation number; call the head office. Talk, don't shout, and tell them politely that you, state your name and perhaps phone number, would like ___ theater to screen the final match in 3D.

Also your group effort should target just ONE theater chain - so either GSC, TGV or Cineleisure or whichever chain that's in your town. The reasons are: 1) your group may not be large enough so your members may not have all the time in the world to do this; 2) the theater chain, once they figured out there is a demand for it, will publicize it like it's the best thing ever. So when #2 happens, the others will follow suit.

It does take coordination because the chain and Astro have to iron out deals; in return, Astro have to iron out deals with FIFA. So get it going quick and fast. Hopefully, Astro can provide a separate 3D 1080p25 feed to the cinemas.

Once Astro and the chain have established this relationship, future LIVE broadcast of not only 3D sports but also concerts can be arranged.

Well if you have a PS3, 3D games are already out. And 3D BDs are slowly coming; first title available is Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. If you have the money, why not?

in the context of this thread being Astro Byond - my question is cautionary as people are eyeing a 3DTV just for the WC finals alone. It would be more interesting to see what future 3D features Astro has in store.

on a wider perspective, i still think its premature to buy the current batch of 3DTVs, in relation to its price and the supporting softwares available. it would make more sense to buy it when 3D softwares (movies, games, etc) are more widely available and that would also be the time when the prices of 3DTVs would be relatively much cheaper and better 3D models are developed.
