Hello all, i bought a new ipad 3g and signed up for maxis broadband RM48 for 1.5GB plan, my problem is that when i connect to maxisbb via the provided modem it is faster then connecting via the ipad even though im at the same place, is there any extra setting i need to do? or do i need to get the enhanced data plan?

I do not think its fair for singaporeans that bought the iPad early. They paid a premium for the device yet they did not get any recognition.
*
what kind of recognition do you mean ?

@karwaidotnet "hi...may i know typically how big is an ipad apps? just wanna gauge which ipad size i shud get later on..."
well it depends ... even up to 1gb also have! eg. Visual elements = )

@aztoys
is config the same?
showing 3g on the ipad ?

I am facing the same situation as well. With the D-Link MiFi with Maxis, speedtest.net reads 2.9Mbps while on the iPad, merely 1.4Mbps. Same time, same location. Could it be that the app and it's website capture results differently? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Guys, I apologize if this question is asked before. I did a search but I couldn't find any answer.

I'm flying back from Hong Kong next week, will I be taxed for handcarry Ipad back from Hong Kong?

Seconded that. I've converted my daughter's video that I took from a video cam 3 years ago and put it in iPad. Really, makes a difference =)

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 25 2010, 05:08 PM)
The best results for video conversion newbies on a Mac platform(and I'm very particular about my PQ) is using Handbrake with iPad presets. I get better PQ with my own custom presets I made on Quicktime Pro, the end result is pristine one-to-one PQ from Blu-ray MKVs that matches the iPad's 720p capability, but it will take longer to encode, and the resulting video is saved to Quicktime .mov format. You can encode to MP4 with Quicktime Pro, but the resulting video is still either grainy, with edge artifacting, or with tangible downgrade to PQ. I am cursed with eyes that can see these minute details. sad.gif

So, if you're on a Mac, try that link I've posted. The end result is the second-best option I have encountered, other than my own cooked Quicktime Pro workflow.

You won't be tax for 1 or 2 units. I have buy back notebooks from overseas few times already and never have tax; just tell them personal use if asked. At worst open the box on the spot to show them

FYI for those waiting to buy or still considering, seems there might be a shortage due to the screen:

Guys,

Anyone here owns both Ipad and Iphone 4g?

Is it still worth getting i4 when ur 3g ipad is on hand?

Seems unnecessary to get the phone as it's almost identical products other than the gyro function.

The official product price should not increase but those selling grey market units might use this opportunity to increase prices, I think. However, it's just an FYI. Only time will tell if there will be a marked delay in production.

There are few unscrupulous or shall I say opportunistic profiteering chaps in Singapore who bought up the ipads and most of the camera kits and now actively reselling it at the various online forums, some at retail outlets in SimLim.
The ipads are resold at an average S$200 to S$500 above official prices. The most unbelievable are the CCK units going for S$140 to S$150 - actual sales price around S$50 only.
Well these sellers are taking a gamble on the high demand
Anyway, there are still buyers who are not willing to wait

@benny888 good guess whistling.gif ..

@karwaidotnet if $ not a problem just go for the largest capacity "64gb" as u pay the same amount for 2x the jump in size as compared to 16 to 32.

my ipad has backlight bleeding out of the sides just wondering if you guys have it too..
dont know what it is?
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=930708

just watch the gates downloaded the hd version from itunes .. nice !!
better still it was Free!

CCK.. i seriously think one can buy the kit and sell the sd card adapter away if u wana save more $
as for some they just need the sd card version only
and if u have the usb version just plug in a sdcard reader + the sd card into it ( it still works ) icon_idea.gif

hahaa i got 2 sets of camera connection kit ... 1 for my ma's ipad & 1 for me (could have saved some $ blush.gif )
and yes benny888 i'm one of those who bought it at the price of rm180 per set vmad.gif ... (urgently need them at that time at it was kinda rare..)
