Maybe they are shy to answer to people who as them how they get it and how much and bla bla...

I am using it everywhere. Even in machines and epicenter

That's good to hear. The iPad is portable, so having it stay home defeats all its intended purposes.

Don't have to be shy lah. I got asked many times already, and provided those querying with options. You have the opportunity to make friends this way.

QUOTE(stringfellow @ May 18 2010, 05:05 PM)

Added on May 18, 2010, 5:23 pmA simple question to those with iPads: Do you guys bring out your iPad when you're out and about, and how much more inclined are you to use them in public?

I notice that , even when mI'm out meeting the guys for the Tumpang item distribution, they're not inclined to use them or be seen using them. May I ask why? I'm suspecting fear of being robbed, but I'd rather not speculate and get the real answer.
*
You are right... I have taken it out few times in the city to malls, LY Plaza., got a lot of onlookers ... fear of being snatched was high... Hence not safe to show off unless the item gets famous and every Tom, d*** & Harry carry it in Malaysia.... blink.gif

Soon may see this here too... laugh.gif

I have yet to use the iPad wifi in public hotspots or in public.
The shyness is still there... probably...
Either I use most of the time at home or at the office...

But again, I don't see the need to have access to Internet every time with my iPad.... If I want to access the net, my best alternative option is still my iPhone 3GS... biggrin.gif

Pretty understandable. But I couldn't be bothered by that and/or restrained by the fact that I'm at the mercy of what the general public thinks is suitable or allowable to be seen or done in public. Pretty sad that we're restrained by the fact that iPad in public = thievery. That almost sounds like "conform to using crappy cheap laptops like us, or risk being mugged", and conformation = communism. tongue.gif

LOL, I get rubberneckers as well. The thing is, the fairer sex are starting to notice as well, and somehow I get this impression/feeling that their noticability factor is under jeopardy because the guys are noticing the sexier iPads than themselves. laugh.gif They probably need to bump up their "noticeability factor" more....... strip naked perhaps? laugh.gif

You would have to wait for official conformation by apple once their worldwide release is done. We are all waiting actually

This is from the word of the Apple Genius in the Apple Stores I've visited. Once the iPads are available worldwide, the clause "warranty available from the country of purchase" will be amended to "worldwide". We'll just have to wait to see if all of this pans out as expected.

For now, Malaysia doesn't entertain service requests for iPads bought overseas. If your iPad breaks down you need to pay additional moolah to exchange it for a new unit.
When iPad eventually launches officially, authorized service providers will be able to provide warranty services. (if they don't launch officially ever, then remember the iphone case, warranty by Maxis/Digi not Apple)

Not anywhere in the near future, at least not during July launch.

Get a red case and u have yourself a red gadget.
U don't need an excuse to buy one. Instead, find yourself an excuse not to buy one after u had a hands on on the actual device.
LYP is selling for 22XX also~with one yr warranty
*
That's why i stay away from Apple Stores. I know i couldn't resist. Maybe i'll check it out here coz 22xx sounds reasonable.
Thanks smile.gif

Question: Why "malu" use iPad in public?

Don't let other people dictate what you can and cannot do, especially for the devices you've purchased with your hard-earned money.
