I just found out that with an EP i can use the electronic gantry gate instead of having to have an immigration officer scan my pass. I still think the officer does a faster job then the gantry machine, just like malaysia passport scanner which is quite slow.

You meant this, Enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System?

But based on the website

QUOTE
Using eIACS

The following groups of travelers have eIACS extended to them automatically without charge. They are required to hold valid ICAO compliant machine-readable passports. For non-Singaporean users, their latest passport details must be updated with ICA.
Singapore Citizens who have registered for their NRIC
Singapore Citizens aged 6 and above who have yet to register for their NRIC but have been issued Singapore Biometric Passport
Singapore Permanent Residents who have registered for their NRIC
Singapore Immigration Long Term Pass holders who have registered their fingerprints with ICA during the issuance of the new polycarbonate cards

EP cannot use the Automated Gate Clearance, only can use the normal checkpoint smile.gif but they will not stamp on ur passport, just scan ur EP.

Am using the Access Card, passing through the Automated Gate EVERYDAY. Just finger print! dont even need to have the passport to be check. lol

Only hassle is at Malaysia.. need to check passport sad.gif

Im not sure if i'm using the automated gate clearance since i just goto the gate, scan my passport and then my finger print and im good to go. There seems to be a slot for a card of some sort but i;ve tried that with my card and it doesnt work. So i just scan my passport at the passport scanner and then the thumb print.

Yes. Usually when i goto woodlands singapore immigration, the right lanes are for singaporeans and PR, and the left is for foreginers which passes.

But my bro told me he's been doing it at changi since getting his new EP, so i tried and it works.

YES. The page with your photo face down, slot it in.

couple of years ago I crossed causeway twice a day with "colour card"(EP, student pass or social visit pass). Pay ~$30 to apply a 2 years validity "access card" at ICA. At SG custom, I just slot in the access card, gate open, scan thumb print, another gate open then walk out while holding my passport in hand just to show the officer I did bring my passport. There never check my passport. Malaysian side is even better, just hold up my passport in hand and walk pass the counter.

Now the machine at SG custom had the passport scanning feature enabled. Since I am a PR now, I no longer using the access card because I can scan my passport at the gate for free.

If you let the officer check your passport, they like to flip to your photo page and ask you " Are you XXX ?" then scan your passport. They have to ask you this question after the case Changi Custom let a father leave the country with his son passport.

I'm having EP of 8 month old. Applied Oct 2009. I've tried using my passport at the scan machines at Changi, Woodlands and also Tuas at the automated machine. Everyone works. Just put a fingerprint and they would say .. Welcome to Singapore !! Mr. ***...

Yup .. first I asked the immigration officer at changi and he told me so I can use the machines.

Can I extend my period of staying in singapore? If I entered singapore without employment pass and rented a room living there, then obtained the pass(1 year pass) few days later, then started working, how should I extend my period of staying?
or I have to take the employment pass, take a bus leave singapore custom then go in singapore with employment pass again? :S

yeah, using Passport will do smile.gif so long you have EP.

For the Access card, i paid $30. So, untill now, i never show my passport at SG immigration, only use access card and finger print.
