Better than Perrelet with a fabricated history and heritage.. (sorry Perrelet fans, but that watch brand has nothing to do with Mr.Perrelet other than licensing the name)
*
no one here really comparing ML to Perrelet (really starts in 1993 and got acquire by Festina in 2004).
moreover for those that get it grey are getting alot of money for their watch. mod ETA 2892 for ~US$1k. I think its not right to say they fabricated a history and heritage, according to wiki it did state Festina acquire the factory that claims to have been in continuous production since the late eighteenth century. pretty sure that is hard to trace, I have to say ya weak link. Wants a history and rich heritage no the brand of choice.

rich history/heritage do not always translate into top quality watches. with ML I only like their masterpiece collection.
I would put the money on Stowa.

anyway: many young brands are making it these days
eg
Roger Dubuis 1995.
Frederique constant 1992.

Gevril maybe another brand like Perrelet, but unlike Perrelet watches isn't that great.

i wasn't comparing the brands directly, just howthe new brands position themselves, ML don't try to pretend to have a history and heritage, whereas Perrelet does. as for the wiki about the factory.. well, put it this way, Mr.Perrelet never really assembled and sold any watches under the "Perrelet" name. thats fabrication to me. each to their own.

yes, quality have absolutely nothing to do with history/heritage. that i agree. for me, i think even the ML Pontos range is very solid.. the masterpiece collection.. i don't dig designs. subjective matter again.

stowa, i love the antea..now that's real heritage.. thumbup.gif

Patryn: Thanks for the clarification. Seem like their marketing strategy make me confuse about the lume.

Anyway, is it worth to spend 3-4k for Ball watches?

if u enjoy it why not!
I like Ball's lume but I don't like the price pt. All the marketing I think a new ball is ~4K range. low 3K not easy to find. I end spending it on a CW C600.
http://www.christopherward.co.uk/men/view-all-4/c600ipk.html

design wise, there are other mechanical watches with tritium
- Frederique constant clear vision is a dress watch using similar tech
http://www.frederique-constant.com/en/watch_FC-303B6B6.htm

if not for the lume. for 4K budget can get some really nice watches (online and prices is less 16% don't have to pay tax). brands like Guinand even let U customize it.
eg
http://www.genius1953.de/en/index10.html
http://guinand-watch.com/index.php?option=...d=63&Itemid=181

by the watch whch trainmaster U thinking of? streamliner?

greetings! I happen to stumble upon this thread by accident and couldn't resist not posting. Firstly, thanks for the many introductions to CW esp with discount currently ongoing.

Before i actually take the plunge and make an order, i would like to find out if any of you have purchased the steel bracelet? Is it possible to do the resizing at a local watch shop instead of paying the £10.00? Can the leather strap be adjusted to fit a wrist as small as 6 inches?

Yup, looking into Ball Trainmaster Streamliner. Most of the watches sold in Malaysia is overprice with all the marketing gimmick & price control. Any recommendation for 4k budget if i don't need the lume function? Prefer leather strap as i never own leather strap.

Patryn: The CW watch that u recommend look nice. Might plan to get it. Did u owned one?
