SCB just called inform me i am now upgrade to SCB priority customer even though i did not apply for it. Maybe because i have a 400K mortgage1 loan with them.

For those who become their Priority Banking customers because of the huge outstanding loan they have with them, you will automatically qualify for Priority Banking. However, you should ask them what happens as your outstanding loan decreases. Are they going to charge you the service fee when your outstanding loan is reduced to .. erm ... say RM100K. ?

QUOTE(yunalesca @ Jun 18 2010, 03:18 PM)
i think they trying to offer me the VI card. what is the benefit of VI card? now me just using 1 platinum card (other bank).
Higher protection for travel insurance and you do not have to call in for annual fee waiver every year as it is free to you as long as you maintain your Standard Chartered Priority Banking status.

i think 400k is too low for PB, must be that you've met some other criteria...
OCBC on the other hand offer PB for >800k mortgage.

If i'm not mistaken, it is RM450K of outstanding loan with HSBC Premier. This is the other way to qualify for HSBC Premier besides having a deposit of RM200K with them.

But OCBC Premier Banking doesn't offer much to their customers, right ? The requirement is also higher than most other banks at minimum deposit of RM300K along with UOB Bank Privilege Banking.

SCB used to be offer PB for >800k mortgage also.
Not sure since when they lowered their criteria.
Individual with monthly income of RM35,000 which credited in SCB account might get their PB invitation too.

don't know about other place, i am with taipan branch. i get better treatment from ocbc compare to hsbc.

one fine day, i called hsbc and ocbc RM. asking for mortgage:

hsbc rm : can you please come to our premier centre i will explain in further details.
ocbc rm : what's your location, i will meet up with you.

perhaps this is because ocbc has lesser premier customers than hsbc. they tend to go to the extra miles.

after all, it depends on one's need. hsbc offer worldwide networks, ocbc service is more "personal".

alright, back to credit card. since CL is a big debate here.
for hsbc premier customer, if there's no income document provided, you will get 30k or 40k even though you have way more than the required minimum balance to be their premier customer.

If you have something like RM500k of time deposit with them but no other proof of income, they still can be quite generous with the credit limit given smile.gif

Plus ... just to add the CL is not combined limit is you have pre-existing cards with them.
And ... the (MY) HSBC Premier card is supposed to be their top of the line card but please note that privileges wise, it is exactly the same as the HSBC Platinum. (Nothing extra)

If it is referred to home loan, RM400k mortgage is definitely too low. Even a small bank like Alliance requires you to have at least RM1mil home loan or RM200k car loan to become their PB customer.

As I know our member Winner has the SCB VI before but he already cancelled it. Or perhaps you can direct us to the post the particular member mentioned about this.

I have no idea about the minimum CL of SCB VI. But one thing I am very sure is that, when SCB VI was open to the public last time, they could easily grant you a 6-figure CL if you really meet the income requirement.

The lowest credit limit for a Platinum card is RM1000. One of the users here have it  laugh.gif

Last year I tried to request SCB to lower the CL of my JustOne Titanium MC to RM1k, but the CS indicated that the lowest CL they could adjust for a Titanium card is until RM15k. However towards last year end, some forummers informed that they were given a CL of RM3k only for their newly approved SCB Platinum cards.

my JustOne is still not giving me any rebates even after the gst was charge early this month, which means the card should have reached its anniversary

anyone here having the same prob?
*
Oh no, I am experiencing this problem exactly. The RM50 service tax was charged last week and I utilised my 10,000 choice points to offset it, knowing that I will be given 11,000 choice points if I swipe my JustOne cc for 3 times of any amount in June. I tested paying a small RM10 bill online using JustOne cc. The transaction has been successful but no cash rebate was given.

When SCB VI was opened to public last time, the customer service told me minimum income to qualify is RM150,000
per annum and minimum CL offered is RM60K. My application on the SCB VI was approved with CL of RM70K. Well, if compared with my CIMB WORLD MasterCard, at the time it was launched last year, the minimum CL CIMB offered is
RM100K based on the minimum income of RM240K. That's why when EON Bank launched the VISA Signature Card, minimum CL only RM40K is very low compare with CIMB or SCB on their " beyond platinum " card. If EON Bank starts giving min RM40K CL to the public, what kind of standard are we looking at " beyond platinum" cards ? Later on, someone will claim to have much lower limit on the Visa Signature.

Surprisingly, nowadays banks like SCB is downgrading their Platinum Card status to Classic Card status by giving low CL RM1K to RM3K. It seems that SCB are so desperate in getting customers. Do you know that, 15 years ago almost all
banks offering minimum CL of RM15K for Gold Credit Card and minimum RM5K for the Classic Card. But now, you can't get that kind of minimum CL these days. What can you do with a RM3K platinum cards nowadays especially those who travel overseas and for entertainment and business expenses. hmm.gif

I suppose they just want to get as many people as possible to apply for the card hence the lower requirement/standard. The government service tax on credit card doesn't help either.

Won't be too surprised if classic card disappear from the Malaysian market completely in the next few years just as it already happened in Singapore. Anyway, this trend started in USA many years ago. Even my cousin who is barely 20 years old already has a VISA Platinum credit card from Citibank laugh.gif

Yes and no.
Yes, you will get 20x bonus points. No, you wont get 10% cash rebate as your card is not cash rebate card.
Direct Access Visa Infinite is the only cash rebate card in Direct Access.

Actually I have been planning to use my choice points to redeem cash back too. I just want to wait till the next statement comes and see whether they really reduct 10,000 points for the service tax or not. As we are well aware, we can't check details of choice points online.

Besides, it is better to redeem cash for SCB CCs. Its requirement is 5,000 points for RM25 cash back as opposed to 12,000 points for a RM50 voucher.

Totally agree with ya.
Even 10 years ago, you practically have to sweat it out to get even a Gold card. Platinum cards are dreams that you really have to work hard for and cardholders are well respected as you know they earned it.
Nowadays .... Gold cards are almost entry level. Platinum are no big deal. Yeah ... I agree the RM50 govt tax are a big bummer as they practically bring new card applications almost to a halt once customers consolidate their cards. You can't blame the banks for doing all sort of things to attract customers.

JustOne without the rebate is .... better cancel the card then.
