This fella is an agent for UNIFI. He claims after quota for VIP5 capped to 3mb, VIP10 capped to 8mb, VIP20 capped to 18mb. Is he giving the correct fact or misleading all his potential customer?

One thing for sure if all the lines are capped to a mere 5% after quota, it's quite ridiculous. Better to get a 1mb or 4mb line.

It's pretty obvious that no one knows what will happen once you hit the cap (daily or monthly). My installers told me in March that he heard it was a b/w reduction to 5-15% of your max package speed. Unifi tech support all say its 5-10%. Capping each package by 2mbps doesn't seem like much at all. A 2mbps reduction would barely be noticeable to most people.. you'd still hit 2.0MB/s+ on torrents for VIP20. It's not in scale with the package speeds.

I don't know how you can tell your potential customers that you are certain about these values when nothing has been fixed yet. The only thing that's certain is there will be a cap and if you can't live with that, you should stick to Streamyx. Those of us who have already signed up will just have to learn to live with bandwidth quotas.

Previously when they launched the UniFi service, it was said that the throttling will be down to 10% of your advertised speed, so if it is a 5mbps, you will roughly be capped at 512kbps. Now someone from TM mentioned 250kbps in an e-mail, I don't think they are generous enough to give about 2mbps? I think they have changed the policy to 5% instead of 10%. sweat.gif

Daily cap is crazy , monthly cap is good enough already

At least they dont count local traffic , which is good - as riz pointed out. You can still hit high speeds provided the other party is willing to host 24/7. Honestly I am thinking of moving to UniFi cause of the upload speed , its amazing as you could host your own small scale server.

This translates to if one streamyx or unifi guy downloads something , seed it and the rest can distribute it locally. Thus reducing the demand for foreign seed/peers. Its like how folks in Korea and japan do it. Win-win situation in both ways. You and I get faster download speeds and TM should able to offer speedier access to foreign web sites

Soon it will mark the death of MU/RS for UniFi users.

ear Sir/Madam,

All residential customers are subject to Fair Usage Policy (FUP). FUP is only applicable to international traffic only. Capping is only for download only and shall not be imposed immediately. 5Mbps package is capped to total daily volume usage at 2GB. Once quota exceeded, customer’s allowable Internet speed shall be up to 250 kbps.

*
super tmnut! You should let your user have that MINIMUM 250kbps, NOT SHOULD BE UP TO!!!! It mean we will get lower then 250kbps anytime! Please fix us a range 250-300kbps AFTER THE FUP! vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif
