A few hours with Small-FFT and and then a few more hours with Blend after that.

prime + new processors not a very good indication anymore...

i'll do superpi 32mb + pcmark memory test + 3dmark + the games u play for stability

For quick indication on stability, I will always go for SuperPI 32mb + 3dmark and Doom3 or FarCry session. I usually do prime for couple of hours just to see how capable my proc under 100% load for long period. From there, not only I can test the processor capability, but Ram and PSU also comes into the equation. Although many people dismissed the importance of prime, I would say knowing your proc capable of passing prime for sure is a good sign of more potential forthcoming. Well, most of the time anyway.

i agree with PCcrazy that it's not a bad program.. but there has been issues with venice and san diego CPUs (i'm guessing it's something to do with the memory controller or bios settings for this 2 CPUs).. of course it'll be better if u pass it.. but if ur daily use and daily gaming is fine under that speed but not prime stable i'll still call it stable..

everyone have different requirements for being "stable".. just my 2c

maybe try the A64 optimised prime95..

noob question here blush.gif
for mem setting, u got so many stuff to tweak on this dfi mobo...so by tweaking these setting, u may squeeze extra mhz...if u lucky enuff...but whatabout proc speed oc...what setting can u tweak to get better oc...will the mem setting tweaking has any impact of getting more out of ur proc oc???

well it's all inter related.. if u can touch 2.9ghz but ur ram can't... then u will error out.. so tweaking ur ram might give u more mhz when the ram is giving u problems..

and @ a higher CPU speed it's harder to run ur ram @ it's full capacity.. this is because the memory controller is unable to hold out.. memory controller like the FX series will be able to handle it.. for other processors... it's all luck..

and different memory controller likes different ram..

the venice i have now.. it won't do 3ghz stable with bh-5.. won't even complete one loop of 1mb superpi.. with TCCD i finished superpi 1mb.. so yea.. alot to think about there..

there's also ur rails.. check ur rails and see whether it drops alot under load.. a strong psu will prob drop 0.01-0.02 but some calap ones like thermaltake won't hold out that good

Which test should i run with memtest to test my stability? I mean which is the test normally people run instead of running them all? I heard test 6 and 8 is the most important, is that true?

diff people use diff methods/tests...
theoretically...i'd use test 5 or 7 or 8 for burn-in...and for stability...use all tests...but in the real world...i only used test 5...hahaha...malas nak tunggu...
