posted in other thread...but babyelf, can u share with us how did u burn ur vx value to get such good result...i know that diff ram will produce diff result...just share je la...i've heard about the uwhackme's method...but didnt find how it was done...
*
ocz recommended users to burn in 3.2v 2-2-2-5 200mhz for 48 hours.. i didn't do that.. i went straight to 3.3v 220mhz 1.5-2-2-6 and started burning in for about 10 hours..

then i had subsequent burn ins.. total about 40+ hours?

haven't really burn them in yet.. 48 hours not really enough.. will continue burning them in..

but yea... what u do is u burn in at a speed u know it'll do just fine.. no errors or so for about 20-30min then let it continue.. for about 10 hours at least when u sleep.. then start pushing it up.... about 10mhz increase and burn in.. then 10 then burn in.. until u hit a wall then increase by 3-5mhz then burn in ..

then when u get ur the max u can get with desired voltage.. then change a different bios and test same configuration and see whether u can go higher..

310 gave me the best compability and overclock.. so i'm going back to 310 now and test my value vx..

my bh-5 can do more than 270 with 310.. but 331-2 won't even let me do higher than 266 3.6v

so yea.. going back to 310 and get the 8k sandra bandwidth later tongue.gif

I believe it's idle load. Full load at stock should be in between 50-58.

the full load temp is about (max) 54". it never higher than that. my room is non AC tongue.gif

3 hours should be enough to make it to prime stable category..

Here we are talking about the CPU itself. So you should run small fft test. smile.gif

True, I forgot to mention about that. I thought it was understood that way.

but, putting dividers aside, wouldn't memory come into play as well?? that means blend test also kinds important don't u think??

It doesnt serve our purpose here although it is important without doubt...
Dont tell me you try finding CPU limit at the same time finding your RAM sweetspot. We are trying to eliminate everything besides the CPU. So normally I put dividers so that I wont stress the RAM. So there is no point testing RAM when actually CPU limit is my primary concern. Unless I wanted to find total system stability.

Solution for low overclock in Windows XP SP2

Disabling DEP system-wide using boot.ini

1. Click Start, and then click ControlPanel.

2. Under Pickacategory, click PerformanceandMaintenance.

3. Under or Pick a Control Panel icon, click System.

4. Click the Advanced tab, and in the Startup and Recovery area, click Settings.

5. In the SystemStartup area, click Edit.

6. In Notepad, click Edit and then click Find.

7. In the Findwhat field, type /noexecute and then click FindNext.

8. In the Find dialog box click Cancel.

9. Replace the policy_level (for example, "OptIn" default) with "AlwaysOff" (without the quotes).

WARNING: Be sure to enter the text carefully.

Note: Your boot.ini file switch should now read:

/noexecute=AlwaysOff

10. In Notepad, click File and then click Save.

11. Click OK to close StartupandRecovery.

12. Click OK to close SystemProperties and then restart your computer.

In 2k and XP SP1 I could clock up to 9 x 324 (2.9 Ghz)

In XP SP2, I could barely hit 9 x 300 (2.7 Ghz) and that was with a different HAL.

Turning off DEP solved this for me:
Source from XS

Some other forumers also conclude success from this tweak...

So what is DEP? It is some kind of protection to prevent malicious code from running. Some suggested that the win actually telling the system to not boot due to incorrect clock speed reported. However rumours says this tweak is for DFI and venice combo. But others who got stuck at very low overclock might want to have a go at the tweak.

Guys, if you have tried or wanted to, don't forget to put some feedback here. Will put my feedback later, hopefully I can achieve more speed (which I doubt so). DFI owners, pls have a go... thumbup.gif

i heard that older venice 3000+ batch like 0505 - 0507 require higher v-core to get 2.8ghz, say 1.6-1.65V.

while the newer 3000+ batch after 0517 do not require as high v-core ??

I'm with the newer 0517 batch with 1.55v @ 2.8ghz.

wat say u masters ??
