FAQ:

http://www.facebook.com/?flyingspaghettimo...qs/416090686070
*(Extracting FAQs related only to Android phones)

1. I want the a phone bundle. How much do I need to pay up front?
A. You need to pay for the device, advance payment (RM500 for 24 months, RM300 for 12 months, and RM100 for no contract) and additional 1st month’s fee (RM68) assuming you take up DG Smart Plan. These advanced payments will used to pay for your initial monthly bills.

2. I am confused with the "100% rebate on your Internet Unlimited plan." under Save Smart
A. Here's a good example of different billing rates done by forumer "lonewolf"
QUOTE(lonewolf @ Apr 15 2010, 05:11 PM)
example 1

68 + phonecalls/sms/mms(150) = RM68 + RM150 = RM218

so RM218 is above the RM200, which u will get FREE internet Unlimited

So the the amount u need to pay is RM218 - RM68 = RM150

example 2

68 + phonecalls/sms/mms(50) = RM68 + RM50 = RM115

so RM115 falls under the 25% discount

so the amount that u need to pay is  (RM68-25%) + 50 = 51 + 50 = RM101

example 3

68 + phonecalls/sms/mms(20) = RM68 + RM20 = RM88

you have to pay RM88
*
Digi's explanation on Facebook:
If you spend above RM200 in total usage in a month, you get a 100% discount on your data plan (i.e. For RM68 DG Smart Plan, you get RM68 discount). If you spend between RM100 and RM200 in total usage in a month, you get a 25% discount on your data plan (i.e. For RM68 DG Smart Plan, you get RM17 discount).

3. Is tethering (phone as modem) included in the new RM68 Smart Plan?
A. Yes, at no extra charge for tethering. It is already included.

4. Is there a quota for the DG Smart Plan? What happens when I exceed my quota? Do I need to pay more?
A. There is a fair usage quota of 3GB for the DG Smart Plan. If you exceed your quota, your speed will be reduced to 128kbps. You will not be charged extra and you will still surf for free.

5. I want to buy one of the devices on offer (Blackberry Bold 9700, Curve 8520, HTC Legend). Do I need to sign up for a DiGi Postpaid Plan in addition to the DG Smart Plan?
A. No. You only need to sign up for the DG Smart Plan.

6. Can I pay for the device in installments?
A. No. Easy Payment Plan is not currently offered for the devices bundled with DG Smart Plan.

7. I am a foreigner. Can I subscribe to the DG Smart Plan and purchase a device from DiGi?
A. Yes. However, you need to pay a deposit of RM500 on top of all other payments.

8. I am currently with another mobile operator. Can I switch to the DG Smart Plan and purchase a phone bundle?
A. You can sign up for the DG Smart Plan and, once you have successfully ported in to DiGi, you can come back and sign up for a phone bundle.

9. I am a DiGi Prepaid customer. Can I subscribe to the DG Smart Plan?
A. Yes, you can convert your DiGi Prepaid to the DG Smart Plan and retain your number.

10. What will happen to my credit if I am a DiGi Prepaid customer converting to DG Smart Plan?
A. We would advice you to use your credit and leave RM10 before conversion as the credit will not be brought forward/tranferred.

11. What is the advance payment for? Is it a deposit?
A. The advance payment is used to pay for your initial monthly bills. It is not a deposit.

12. Where can I sign up for the DG Smart Plan?
A. You can view the participating locations @ http://www.digi.com.my/internet/smartplan/buy.html

13. I am on the DG50+Internet Unlimited 58 plan. Can I switch to the DG Smart Plan?
A. Yes, you can, but you will be charged RM68 for data. You do however enjoy calls on a pay-as-you-use rate.

14. Can I have Friends and Family for the DG Smart Plan?
A. Yes. You are entitled for Friends & Family.

15. Can I register supplementary lines under my DG Smart Plan?
A. Yes, but your supplementary lines will be a basic supplementary line. There is an RM30 minimum voice commitment.

16. I am currently under DG 30/50/150. Can I just change to DG Smart Plan? I am no longer under any contract term.
A. Yes, you can.

17. I am under a DG50 plan. If I add on a BlackBerry package instead of converting to a DG Smart Plan. Will my calls be charged at DG Smart Plan rate, or my current DG50 rate?
A. You will be charged at DG50 rates.

18. Do I have to settle all my outstanding balances with DiGi prior to swapping over to the DG Smart Plan?
A. No, not unless you want to port into DG Smart Plan.

19. What's the difference on the mobile broadband speed for DG Smart Plan and Prepaid Internet Unlimited Max5?
A. The Prepaid Internet Unlimited Max5 is has a likely average speed (LAS) of at 384kbps download (d/l), DG Smart Plan has a likely average speed (LAS) of 700kbps download (d/l).This is assuming you are in a 3G covered area.

20. Do I have to register for a DG30 / DG50 / DG150postpaid plan in order for me to subscribe to DG Smart Plan?
A. No. The DG Smart Plan is a postpaid plan in itself with zero minimum voice commitment. Your only commitment are your data charges of RM68.

21. If I change to DG Smart Plan from my current postpaid plan, will my calls and SMS to my supplementary lines still be free?
A. Yes.

22. Can I use credit card to pay for the device, advance payment and first month upfront payment?
A. Yes.

23. Can my supplementary lines register for DG Smart Plan?
A. No they cannot. DG Smart Plan is only for principal lines.

24. How do I qualify for Smart Save?
A. It is based on your total bill spend which includes RM68+your calls/SMS/MMS usage. Example: 25% discount off RM68 - you just need to spend an additional RM32 to qualify.

25. Will the advance payment be used to rebate RM68 only or the entire bill spend?
A. The rebate will cover entire bill spend.

26. Is DG Smart Plan available for new customers only?
A. No, current DiGi customers and new customers can sign up for DG Smart Plan.

27. Is the DG Smart Plan eligible for the Government’s broadband tax relief program?
A. Yes. Individual taxpayers will enjoy tax relief on the DG Smart Plan fee (e.g., RM68x12). Please contact your tax agent / consultant for advice on the broadband tax relief.

28. I am an existing DiGi customer. How do I upgrade? Do I walk in to DiGi Centre/DSS, call-in to customer service at 016 221 1800 or use D’Chat?
A. All three options are possible. Click here for our store locations.

29. Is the RM3 for Itemised Billing applicable for DG Smart Plan?

I've just picked up my HTC Legend from Digi Center SS2 at 4pm. The HTC phones just arrived in the center this afternoon. If I went there in the morning, there would be nothing for me.

There were some initial confusion about the new Smart Plan. One of the agents said the offer was for Hong Leong credit card owners only. Anyway, everything was sorted out and I took the 24 months contract to get the HTC Legend at RM999 + RM500 Advance Payment.

500 advance payment for 24 months contract, pay 999 for phone.

300 advance payment for 12 months contract, pay 1399 for phone.

i think the advance payment is kinda like insurance for digi in case you run away with the phone and don't pay your monthly phone charges. at least not such a big loss to them. the money will be used for the monthly phone charges for the first few months until it's used up.

I am pretty sure they will. The demand is there and if you notice on the website, they already placed a drop-down for HTC phones. More HTC phones will be added in it.

there's a quota of 3gb and once you reach that quota the speed is reduced. Other than the legend there's the blackberry bold 9700 and curve 8520. The other option if you already have a 3g phone you can subscribe/convert to the DG smart plan and enjoy the package

ohhh, thanks for the info
btw, I actually quite confuse with the monthly commitment
hehe

currently I am on Celcom 250 mins package, which I have to pay MINIMUM RM50, so for the DiGi RM68 package, is it that I just need to pay extra RM18 compare to my previous package? or the RM68 is only for DATA plan? not inclusive of calling/sms?

Yep, RM68 is the "Unlimited" data plan not inclusive of calling and sms. You need to pay that every month. You can refer to the first page FAQ section.

And also an Additional RM68 for 1st month fee. The advanced payments will used to pay for your initial monthly bills.

wish for HTC Desire in Digi!

Celcom's packages are only for heavy usage customers, whereas Maxis is so snobbish with their 'competitive phones' and doesn't give a damn about Android phones.

RM58 is an add on to your existing call plan(DG30/DG50/DG150) while smart plan is RM68 for internet but no minimum on call/sms/mms(pay as you use)

hmmm, will go DiGi BTS tonight, ask ask see seee
normally how long it takes to switch Celcom to DiGi a?
I can only do that during normal office hour I guess? through Menara Celcom only? or any BlueCubee branches?
I just switched from Maxis to Digi last week.
I went to Digi service counter @MidValley during lunch hour.

Digi will transfer for u, so u no need to go Celcom. Normally within 24hrs.
They will give u Digi new sim card 1st, just change to Digi sim card when ur Celcom sim stop working.
It's FOC, but the current credit in ur Celcom (for prepaid) u can't transfer over. Remember to utilize it fully.

Mine1 get activated b4 lunch the following day. I received thank you SMS from Maxis for being theirs customer, bla, bla.
Then received SMS from Digi subsequently inform they will transfer my account out from Maxis, done without interruption. rclxms.gif

Details can refer to here.

The warranty for the HTC phone under smart plan is only 1 year..does digi offers an extension to year 2 for an additional price? I read in the forum PDA Gadgets offer under their Mobile Sure for additional 1 year warranty for Rm 27. Is that from Digi?

Ok, here I got something to share. Just now I call to Digi customer service center ask about this new DG Smart Plan RM68. Currently I`m using DG Smart Plan For BlackBerry - RM58 per month.

They say my RM58 cannot use tethering, then now this new RM68 can allow me to do the tethering modem. Then I ask, is that i need to change plan??

Then she told me, I no need to change plan, DIGI will auto upgrade my old smart plan to this new plan and keep back RM58 per month!!! icon_idea.gif

WOW!!!! Is it cool???? All I have to do is just wait for the sms notification from DIGI!!! rclxm9.gif

DIGI really always a smarter choice!! Yeah!! thumbup.gif

Yes, it is like that. My friend who applied for the same dg30 + internet unlimited, asked the SA when applying whether can change plan or not if find out that dg30 is not enough for him, the SA replied only can change the plan after 3 months. wink.gif

Maybe in that time DIGI will give more offer ler, just like me now can stay with pay RM58, but can use the RM68 same features. tongue.gif

DSS vouchers can't be used for any phone bundling. However, I'm not ruling out that some DSS have some 'jalan' to enable this. But officially, from DiGi, no.

i went to digi centre just now

i want to ask about my DG50 and the different between rm58 n rm 68 unlimited internet

here want i found:

for DG 50+rm58 internet

we paid fix rm50+rm58 (rm108) plus sms/gprs/mms (call, mms, sms charges pls refer to DG website)
if we use call charges more than rm50, we can get discount up to rm50 and other discount tier.

total paid per month: rm108 and more

If i switch to RM68, there is no fix rm50 "commitment fee"
but the call charges is 2 SEN more than DG50 plan

so u paid rm68 PLUS call/sms/mms charges that u used
example rm68 plus rm30 call/sms/mms charges = rm98

dat d main different la

damn....anything i can do to speed up? have taruh the digi dealer kau kau....

PS: to me, this sounds like a con job by digi/dss/their supplier since u launch a package with no insight of planned sufficient stock.

the warranty part is kinda confusing on the phone warranty, especially the legend

A - Digi only gives warranty 1 year(warranty card sent to HTC), to add additional warranty you need to pay RM27 and the 2nd year and is covered by MobileSure. So first year, any problem you can send to Digi or HTC, while 2nd year you need to send to MobileSure

B - Digi give 2 years warranty, can sent the unit to Digi or HTC during that 2 years warranty period

C - Digi only give 1 year warranty, anything happened send back to Digi

but she said everytime they only deliver few units of Legend to sell,
that's why they sold out very fast,

yesterday I went to Digi in Jusco melaka inquiring about the HTC Legend availability. They have one unit left out of 4 that came from their last order. I asked how long does it take for a new order to arrive. Giving a fake look, the agent said 1 week. So I'm guessing, its probably 2 weeks. biggrin.gif

apparently u are able to leave your money there 1st and wait for the stocks to arrive for u to secure the phone

i just subscribed for 1 yr plan since i feel 2 yrs is too long

the speed is really dependent on the area. e.g. my house can achieve full speed, my office only have edge connection shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

ok thanks for the clarification. but it seems like some users have to pay rm27 extra for the 2nd year warranty...

Is it for some sort of phone insurance thingy? It should be standard 2 year warranty with no extra charges. PM me the shop's name and we'll investigate.

Yes, I am DiGi's webmaster.

For the stock issues, I've highlighted it to the people handling it. I'll try to give you guys some answers on Monday about availability. In the meantime, to facilitate things, perhaps you can fill up this quick Google form? We'll be able to get back to you directly about stock availability.

SweetPuff,

Great, that's a big help.

Been going from one store to another and getting the run around from your promoters.

BTW, it would seriously have helped if you guys had put the FAQ on your site rather than in FB becos most of it is the complete opposite of what your promoters claim.

I only found it when I came trawling LYN for something else.

Eh? FAQs are under Support page leh.
http://www.digi.com.my/internet/smartplan/support.html

Click on FAQs when in that page. Hope this helps. If there's anything you'd like to know, feel free to ask.

As I mentioned in other threads in LYN, I'm helping out on DiGi related enquiries here on a personal basis. I'm not here officially as a DiGi rep. Just as a lowyat member helping other fellow lowyat members.

No problem. I do take the comments here in lowyat and ensure it gets forwarded to the relevant people.

Why don't wanna get the Legend, bro?

I've just had a short conversation with the guy handling the marketing of HTC Legend. The reply I got is that we can't influence the stock availability with some dealers, but we can do it for the shops that DiGi directly own. I'll be meeting up with him on Monday to see how to work this out. Maybe we can see if we can arrange a time period where we reserve the device for everyone that is interested. So at least when you go to collect, you won't be disappointed.

With the lack of Legend stock at most DiGi centre, I am expecting it will be worst for HTC Desire. Maybe we could see a line of people waiting on the first day launch.

I am more inclined to believe that the shortage is artificial. That is, DiGi took in only limited quantities of the Legend, not expecting it would sell very well, rather than there being so many geeks wanting to buy this particular model.

btw sweetpuff since u are working in Digi i think u better check for PDA Experts store which are listed as stores which u could purchase from bcoz when i called them, they said they do not sell this package and when i was there, there was no indication (no banners, brochures etc) of them selling and the staffs knew ntg abt it. this was in Sunway Pyramid

Yeah, there are several of stores listed in the BUY page that have no idea about this package that they're supposedly a part of.

All the ones I went to (on the list) gave me the "What is this guy babbling about?" look biggrin.gif

I had a similar experience when I visited 2 of their outlets - no DiGi contract Legends. I can only make a conclusion that PDA Experts do not want to affect the sales of the non-contract Legends.

Perhaps, we can go one step further by asking why bother to be a DiGi reseller?

Malaysian mobile phone resellers are not ready for contract phone market. Malaysian telcos are beginning to show more enthusiasm and hopefully the Legend will set the ball rolling for more exciting contract packages.

I'll get back on the stocks issues ya.

Anyway, here's the (hopefully) final thing you'll need to know about the warranty confusion, emailed to me by my colleague handling Legend.

1. HTC’s warranty is for 2 years and is valid throughout Malaysia at all of their service centres.
2. Even if a customer would to walk in to our DC, they will be directed back to their service centre as we will not be able to do anything for those sets. DIGI will only act as a service centre for blackberry.

Dudes,
Warranty is 2 years. If got issues, just go directly to any HTC service centers across Malaysia. This is confirmed by HTC, SIS and DiGi.

Also, I'm working something out about the stock issues. Best we can do is to direct everyone to specific DiGi Stores that we can ensure that there's stocks. I'll let you know after my meet up with the guy handling HTC Legend in DiGi. Hopefully he'll be back from MC. tongue.gif

Anyway, why not fill up this form and I'll get someone to give you a buzz when stocks are in place.

From the FAQ:

Can I use iDiGi with my other smartphones?
Technically yes, however it is best used together with your iPhone as it is designed specifically to maximise your experience on it.

But then, you won't have BIS on iDiGi.

The answer I got from Digi is also only 1 year warranty, but i emailed HTC to verify.
This is the reply from them:

As for the warranty, HTC do offers 1 + 1 year HTC Local warranty by having customers must return our HTC Reply Card (Distributor Copy) with details filled up to SiS Distribution (M) Sdn Bhd.

Kindly refer the details as below:

SIS Distribution (M) Sdn Bhd
37, Jalan Kartunis U1/47, Temasya Industrial Park,
Glenmarie, 40150 Shah Alam, Selangor.
Tel : 03-5569 8878
Attn: Ms Fifie

Once we recieved it, we will courier our HTC Extended Local Warranty Card to you.

EDGE speeds in Melaka are quite decent actually (not good enough for Google Maps though), but if u were to pay RM68 for EDGE speeds while others are paying the same amount for 3G speeds, I guess it's not worth it

Better confirm you're not on CELCOM's blacklist. They are known for doing that...

Or this is a tactic to 'intentionally and legally' bind their customers with their network. After all, it is easy to 'just blacklist' someone and the rest of the telcos will run away and that someone has no choice but to stick with Celcom?

Hi all, I register to convert my digi prepaid to DG smartplan on monday at digi centre in time square. At 1st the sales lady inform me the process will take 24 hour. After a days the line still not converted, she sms me saying the activation will be delay and promise it will be process in 48 hours.
But, until today still not activated. when i ask her again about the status she claim that they are having trouble with the system and need to do the activation manually and cannot promise when it will finish. Anybody else having the same problem or have any idea of what happen?

Maxis now offering Android phones too. Interesting bit is the fact that Market is being offered. Wonder if we can now buy paid apps officially.

Btw the Legend that Digi offers comes with Market out of box?

But Smart Plan (RM68) is all about that data service. If you don't want the data service, then you shouldn't be considering Smart Plan. Maybe their D30 or D50 will do.

Finally got my Digi Legend. After hunting high and low, going to almost ten outlets, I found one at the DSS in Sunway (last unit there, no idea if and when they will have more).

Digi, you rock for offering this Smart Plan + Phone package, but damn you for making it so hard to find it!!! biggrin.gif

Maxis website for Android looks like a very sloppy cut/paste job from some other telco' website, so I wouldn't take what is shown there to be 100% accurate.

For instance, they're offering the Motorola Droid instead of the Milestone, and if it really is the Droid, I expect there will be a lot of pissed-off Maxis customers wondering why their CDMA phones aren't working here in Malaysia.

the same case here with me too! my X1 display is not displaying anything after i dropped it few weeks ago! usually is ok..now been hunting for new phone and this legend plan is quite tempting too. but can anyone clarify this, if i am on the 24month contract, can i upgrade to a new phone(on digi plan) later within the contract period? if yes, this is very nice! thanks:)

if DG can tweak their DG Smart Plan a bit as follow, I guess DG will win a lot more customers from other telco....

DG Smart Plan 1: 1GB data limit, RM28/month, call/sms/mms pay per use
DG Smart Plan 2: 2GB data limit, RM48/month, call/sms/mms pay per use
DG Smart Plan 3: unlimited data limit, RM68/month, call/sms/mms pay per use

come on DG, we need more disruptive pricing, as you're known for all this while....

when the customers wins, DG wins as well....

It is not important. Whats more important is Digi now has 3G capabilities. Next, it has to work on its coverage in other parts of the country. The fact that Digi still remains today is a testimony that its strategies are right. Government policies can only go so far.

999. I do not mind being lock for 2 years. The calculations are as follows:

Phone: RM999.00
2 years (24 months) package price: 24 x 68 = RM1632.00
Total: RM2631.00
Minus Phone price: RM1999.00
Actual usage price = RM632
Per month = 632 / 24 = RM 26.333333 cheap war... the only drawback is being lock for 24months ONLY

Me same, he tell me stock is very critical he need to call to confirm.
Then I tell them I want to confirm a new line.
After a bit of chit chat and signed the agreement, he basically took out the phone underneath the counter (without calling anybody!)
This is business... lol
return customer, aiyo tunggula dulu... let me serve new customer first tongue.gif

p.s. actually I am on Digi line also (company paid) but I need a dedicated line for broadband...

Smart Plan is RM68/mth, so total cost of Internet access only is RM1,632 and not RM1,392 smile.gif

But it doesn't change the fact that it's still a great deal, and I'm glad this came when it did as I was about to sign up for the RM58 Internet Unlimited package.

So for an extra RM10/mth, I'm getting RM1,000 off the retail price of a just-launched smartphone (and actual retail price as opposed to vastly inflated prices).

Lock in is no issue, I've been a Digi customer since 2004. And I doubt that anyone will be able to discontinue mobile internet once they've experienced Internet in their pockets biggrin.gif

Say if I'm porting my number from another telco to Digi. What is the typical turnaround time for the porting to be completed and the Digi line to be activated? I understand the 24-48 hours expectation but I want to know about the typical turnaround time.

Can anyone help?

I receive a SMS from DiGi 1st
say something like soon to activate on DiGi line, replace DiGi simcard once your current telco lost its signal.

can the digi smartplan be used with other smartphones? cos i have a google nexus one coming on the way from US...

Nexus one and legend.. which one is a better purchase?
*
Yes, you can use the plan with any Internet-capable phone. Just subscribe without contract or get the voice+internet unlimited packages.

Nexus versus Legend, depends on you and your intended usage. If you're a power user or like to hack your phone, Nexus.

If you don't see yourself doing that, the Legend is more than enough.

Hope this helps!

Are you familiar with SS2? If you are, tt's at the row behind Savemart, facing the direction of the LDP.

Legend boh laku there, nobody even looking at it. It's an iPhone world.

How la to convince Digi to offer Android Market paid apps like this? LOL

Too true, in the almost ten DSS I went to, not one single promoter offered the Smart Plan to me. All pushing "iPorn" <--ROFL

All were holding iPorn brochures AND iPorn sample unit.

Promoters at a roadshow in Sunway Pyramid wouldn't even show me the Legend. Hell, they wouldn't even show me the BOX the Legend comes in.

If Android fails for Digi, I blame the promoters! biggrin.gif

Only certified geekazoids want Android, and CrackBerry users mostly on Celcom/Maxis oredi.

Two hours? Wow, that's long. Plus waiting time or just signing up?

I signed up at Sunway and took 1.5 hours, cos the guy serving me was not very sure and easily distracted. I would have thought DC would be much quicker.

Anyway, I'm sure the new toy will have already erased any frustrations over your wait biggrin.gif

question to the guys that got the Legend from Digi,

Did the phone include the standard 2g memory card? I've just got off the phone with a Digi rep and he says it is not included whereas I read in the earlier postings says it does include, went to digi center earlier on to sign and switch but forgot to ask about the accessories doh.gif also asked about the warranty he says 1year limited warranty i was aik? since sweetpuff said its 2years and a member posted the email reply from HTC also confirmed it. Its seriously confusing Digi....come on la, on site says one thing and to speak to a rep says different thing, how la? which is which i also now rclxub.gif

Sad to say but this is classic DiGi la bro..
I asked them non-stop for the Legend and the Iphone deal, everytime I inquire, the answer sure different one..
So, I tends to ask OWNERS of the plan and usually, they can give good feedback to me..
Then I decide to get the plan or not..

Yup, comes with 2GB microSD. Standard retail package, nothing should be missing.

Standard warranty is 1 year. If you return warranty reg to SIS, they will send you an extended warranty for 2 years. At least that is my understanding.

thanks guys for the update! i guess so in order to get the extra "extended" warranty. and yeah customer service needs improvement since they are the front line been bombarded with questions on all these promotions and not giving out mixed confusing answers, i called up again about half hour ago about the legend package and the person asked me to go back to the place where I signed up for the switch/smart plan to ask about the memory card, i'm like err not gonna go back there again to just ask for this and asked him where can i get confirmation since the centers has no number to call and he wont give me the number as well, he said the same thing to go to the center.... sigh like that also can.

well I cant wait to switch and hopefully it will be by tmrw so I can go get me a Legend!!!

Yup, I like Digi for their services but their front-liners are often their weakest link. Service personnel are poorly trained and swamped with customers.

Like the Smart Plan, I contradicted so many of their so-called promoters who kept giving me BS answers. Some are ill-informed but worse are the ones who lie to you. Many times I tell them to go to digi.com.my to prove them wrong. Or I just say I'll call 016-221 1800 right now and we'll see who's lying.

Over my many visits to their centres, the one common sight was pissed off customers/prospects who wait forever for service.

Today, i waited 45 minutes before I got to speak to one of their service staff. In that 45 minutes, I saw so many people walking off in disgust.

-Check for items in the box
-Check for any physical damage to the phone
-Check the screen, touch non-stop, see got any problem with input.
-Sms and call someone, to test the speaker and sms system.
-Snap a few photos and videos.
-Press every button, feeling them whether too hard or too soft.
-Try the potrait and landscape thingy to check whether the accelerometer is working fine or not.

And I guess, you are done?

If you are an existing customer, remember to tell them to activate 3G if you have not done so previously.

The smarter choice does not turn on 3G by default when you sign up for the Smart Plan.

Also, they changed some settings on my account, rendering my Caller ID inoperative. So if you guys suddenly get UNKNOWN callers only, call Digi, 5 minute fix.

I wasted a whole day trying to find a solution, hard-resetting la, installing ADB la, changing simcards la. Adoi.

I wasted a whole day trying to find out why I wasn't getting a data connection with DG after moving from MAXIS to their Smart Plan. After 4 calls to Digi with 4 incompetent service personnels offering various BS non-working solutions, I finally got lucky with the 5th guy who said that GPRS was not activated for my account.

Service guy: Sir, the system shows that GPRS is not activated for your account.
Me: Okay... I am on the Smart Plan right?
Service guy: Yes.
Me: Why is GPRS not activated automatically for Smart Plan?
Service guy: Our system have limitation.
Me: Can you activate now?
Service guy: Yes. I'll do it now. But for the next 24hours, it will be Pay As You Use.
Me: What?!! But Smart Plan is unlimited data right?
Service guy: Yes. But this is system limitation sir.
Me: Is this fair to me as a customer?
Service guy: ... it's not fair

At this point, I was thinking.. fine whatever. I'll still use data as soon as I get GPRS service, and just complaint kau kau if I get charged extra for pay as you use data on an unlimited data plan. By the way, according to him 3G is activated upfront. Just not GPRS and you can't get any data connection much less 3G if GPRS is not activated shakehead.gif

Will wait for my bill end of this month and see...

Sounds like my experience. I locked in my MNP request from Maxis to Digi yesterday 10am and I received SMS just like you did on today at 9am. Swapped SIM cards but no data connection. I'm on DG Smart Plan for Blackberry (RM68) but it doesn't matter because its the same plan (APN = diginet). I had to call 4 times because the first 3 gave me conflicting and inconsistent answers so I wasn't satisfied.

The 4th personnel told me that account transfer + voice activation and the data connection activation is done separately. They will need to port you over first and then activate your whatever plans you registered on (Eg DG Smart Plan). Normally this is within few hours and you will get a confirmation SMS when things are done. Before this, any data access will incur pay as you use charges.

The same thing happened to my wife when she initially subscribed for Digi 3G Internet RM58 bolt-on to her DG50. She assumed things were immediate because she could then access 3G. Then we check the charges over the Digi support line and a half-day access has accumulated to RM25 already. shocking.gif Not good. So yes... it will be pay as you use.

Then she got the confirmation SMS and things went smoothly.

Hi all, i've some question here,

1. what's the rate for supplementary plan under smart plan? 0.15/0.10?
2. do i need to take another postpaid plan or smart plan only will do?
3. for mnp, am i restricted to take up to 12 mths contract only?
4. for the smart save, can i accumulate the sum with my supplementary in order to reach rm200?

I only know answer to Question 2:

You don't need to add on a voice plan. The DG Smart Plan is a fully integrated plan. Your RM68 will entitle you data access of up to 3GB/month (FUP applies). This plan includes voice, sms and mms but it will be as pay-as-you-use basis. Voice is RM0.15/min @ 30sec blocks. SMS and MMS charges as per normal.

Under this plan you have DG Save Smart (25%, 100%). How does it work? If your total accumulated bill is RM100 and more, you will be entitled to 25% reduction over the RM68 (charges for DG Smart Plan). Say to enjoy 25% reduction, all you need to do is accumulate voice+sms+mms = RM32++ to gain entitlement.

If total bill is RM200 and more, you will be entitled to 100% reduction over the RM68.

*
Question 1: Check www.digi.com.my for the supp line charges...
Question 3: U got the option to sign up without the plan, 12 mths or 24mths...
Question 4: U can't accumulate. It only applicable to the main line. smile.gif

Hope this can help u... rclxms.gif

Adoi.
*
Woot! Just got my phone from digi, replying now as i type, ihad no issues with these as tried the wifi the switch to 3g. Guess u guys not so lucky, i also asked if there is a need to activate it but they say no need

On Digi it always fluctuate between H and E on some phones. So if you know H or 3G signals are strong, just set your phone to only connect to H/3G. Downside is... if you hit a spot without these signals, your phone won't be able to fall back to E or etc. In that case, you have manually reset back to auto.

I got insisted to pay cash too. sad.gif Sucks. I knew they could accept credit card. I think this has something to do with 'circling' the money before it eventually reaches Digi. So they can make 'something' out of it.

Very fast and efficient! Was expecting at least a bit of hiccups but everything was fine!
I registered to port from Maxis to DiGi's SmartPlan yesterday around evening time. Successfully ported this afternoon after lunch.
APN wasn't configured automatically on my Desire, but referring to my friend's APN settings on his phone, I got it working by blindly chip in likely values.

The only slight complaint so far is the coverage in my office is not that good, eating up more battery today.
Anyway, looking forward for my brand new yellow experience. Hopefully no more bloated bills like I was in Maxis.

Short answer: YES
Long answer: Smartplan is a data plan so any phone with GPRS, EDGE, 3G, HSPA can use it. Your sup lines will be on the standard RM30 per month plan, and calls and sms to them are FREE.

GPRS RM149? And your total bill RM700?

LOL, you don't need an internet plan. You need Skype.

BTW, are you on the Smart Plan? If not, then probably makes more sense for you to start a new topic or contact Digi directly.

I totally agree.
Happy digi user here. No problem what so ever on my Smart Plan.
*
Same here, no issues. The transition was smooth and within 24 hours. Digi was good in that they accepted my registration in advance because I still have a few more days with Maxis (on contract). I wasn't free all the time to go Digi Centre. So they hold the application and only lock it in after mine expires. Once locked in, it took less than 24 hours to activate the new line.

I picked this plan because it is compatible with both Android and BlackBerry phones (of course the data rate is cheap too). The speed is fast enough on my phone. I'm still waiting for the Desire so I'm using Bold 9700 now. I had issues with the data connection because the service books weren't sent and Digi thought I am using their Bold phone. After a few calls, a Digi personnel called me direct. I was already on the way to a Digi Centre to resolve the issue but you know what that person say to me? He asked to give him an opportunity to help me one last time so I won't be troubled to go all the way to Digi Centre.

He walked me through a few procedures and finally the service was activated. The service books were sent to my phone. He also guided me the procedures when I want to use a non-BB phone. This is what I call service. thumbup.gif

Anyone know which DSS has stocks for the Legend? I went to the one at Bukit Tinggi Klang this Monday, the sales rep told me need to wait 2 or 3 days but just now I call him and he said that there's no stock available, he also mentioned that the whole Malaysia also run out of stock, is it true?

Trust me they do not even know what is happening to other stores. Saying that would only make you think "Whoa this phone and package is that popular meh!"

Digi outlet would not sell screen protector lar...

I won't think that this phone/package is that popular or what, but I don't know what it that guy problem, didn't even bother to call me to inform that there's no stock, now I have to search at other outlets for the phone.

Hi there! According to my colleague handling HTC Legend in DiGi, we should already be holding extra stock in all our Retail Stores. Note, not DiGi Specialised Stores.

Head on over here:
http://www.digi.com.my/internet/smartplan/buy.html

And look for DiGi Retail Stores. Basically they're:

1. SS2
2. Solaris KL
3. Berjaya Times Square (personally, I won't recommend here, coz it's often packed with customers)
4. Bukit Tinggi
5. Api-Api

Hope this helps.

Hi SweetPuff, thanks for the information, will be checking out the stores later!
But can I apply for the Smart Plan in the Retail Store instead of Specialised Stores?

Edit: I went to the Retail Store in Bukit Tinggi at 10am just now, ask them whether got stock or not, they say got. Then 11am I go there to apply, they say no stock. haiz.... I kind of think that they only want to sell the phone to new customer, they just ignore those old prepaid customers.

Very nice, hope to get one in the next few weeks.

So the advance pay is standard RM500 for 24 mths contract? Do they give any consideration for long-time DiGi postpaid subscriber, I have been onboard for more than 3 years biggrin.gif

LOL, as a "long-time" subscriber, you are probably at the bottom of their list.

You are already on board and shown to be loyal, so they don't have to worry about you running off!

Sign up for a NEW line and they'll be all over you.

I asked the Digi Centre staff, "how long is the warranty?" and he said "1 year"

Then I asked, "isn't it standard 2 years for HTC products"? He said "No"

I then asked "Can I pay more (RM27) to extend warranty?" Not at Digi Centre, if you sign up with dealers, can. But any problem after 1st year, you find dealer"

"So if the phone has trouble in 1st year, do I come back here?" No, you cari HTC.

I was like "eh? sure boh?"

LOL, so true. As a loyal DG postpaid customer, I feel kinda shafted as DG seems to be more interested in new postpaid customers or prepaid line. No incentive for staying on despite number portability. I guess they don't really mind as not many DG customers jump out.....

And no real reason too, dammit. Their call rates are the best, and phone deals are also the best biggrin.gif

i agree.. last time i went to lowyat DC, time square DSS & mid valley DSS and ask about the stock for htc legend, when reach there they said "still got stock ah, last unit" but once they know im current digi prepaid user then they will try their best to give excuse that the phone no stock (looked like they all memorize the same "script")..

cheras leisure mall DSS there diff.. when ask, they straight away take out the phone for me.. i ask the salesperson about this matter then found out "non-digi user change to digi = commission"

It's like that one, fed up with their attitude edi, if you really want this phone and the plan, just tell them that you want to sign up for a new line.

Hmm. Reading all the comments about current subscribers being of 'lower priority' is quite alarming.

It's never been our policy nor our work ethic to shaft our current customers. If you personally experience this in any of our shops or stores, you can drop me a PM and I'll see to it that they get reminded.

Q26. What's the difference on the mobile broadband speed for DG Smart Plan and Prepaid Internet Unlimited Max5?
A26. The Prepaid Internet Unlimited Max5 has a likely average speed (LAS) of at 384kbps download (d/l), DG Smart Plan has a likely average speed (LAS) of 700kbps download (d/l).This is assuming you are in a 3G covered area.

Its following the coverage of DiGi 3G Area,

kindly refer to here also.

Errr... I'm DiGi's web guy aka webmaster. And I'm replying to digi related things here coz I'm a longtime lowyat member and would just like to help, not coz my bosses tells me to.

For the 'our' or 'I' in the replies, it's all down to whether it's my personal reply or I'm saying stuff representing DiGi as a company mah... smile.gif

I've already sent the form to the person in charge the day after I put it up online. What I can do is only to follow up.

LOL, so you with Digi la. Earlier you went "Yes", then "No" so it's all very confusing.

If you state that you are here on a personal-basis or that some matters not under your purview even tho you are attached to Digi, it would clear up what we can/should address to you smile.gif

Anyway, it's good that Digi is using more non-traditional avenues to engage customers (even if some, like you, are doing it 'non-officially')

Helps take the load off the front-liners. That said, they still could improve in that particular area smile.gif

Seems like it's true. There's a short term shortage in stocks nationwide for Legend.

Aha. Sorry lah. I thought a lot of people in lowyat's digi thread knows that I work in digi. And of course there's always room for improvement in a lot of areas when it comes to customer engagement and myself and others are still learning all the time.

Added on May 11, 2010, 12:06 pmAnother update:
Got a report on Legend stocks from our retail centers from 3 days ago.

Best chance to get Legend would be in the following retail centers:

1. SoHoKL
2. Berjaya Times Square (best bet, but might have a lot of crowd)
3. Klang (very limited stock)

I do have to admit it was an impulse buy. I initially just wanted to change to Digi. it was like:

15 minutes surf Digi site for latest promo
1 hour reading reviews of legend
30 minutes go to nearest mall (was told to go Digi Centre)
2 hours in BTS

Just do it.

Stocks should be in sometime next week.

@SweetPuff... just my 2 cents... push DiGi to restock a lot of Legends coz

1) Android market is gaining momentum now
2) Many people want to get the phone with that attractive offer by DiGi

Legend + Digi data plan is hot like pisang goreng now... if you can convince that there are a lot of people wanting them right now, it is a good marketing strategy for DiGi... before any other telco sapu all the frustrated customers with their latest promo

Everytime I want to go out hunting for Digi's Legend, I read this thread and seeing all frustrated people made me tawar hati a bit.

If you plan to use the phone as a tethered modem then yes. Otherwise, your phone doesn't stay at home mah. It go places with you so you can enjoy 3G coverage whenever you go.

Video calls are the same rates as voice calls. Across the board for all digi plans. Bear in mind that video calls to other networks are currently not supported.

So if calls to supp lines are free, then vid calls are free too lor...

Even as a digi staff, I didn't bother much with 3G. I always run with 3G off on my current phone. This extends my battery life rather significantly as I surf and use the push email functions on a daily basis.

RM68 is not in DIGI prepaid.. maybe commission for the dealer...

or maybe they call it registration fee (more formal this way)...

any DIGI staff around?...

or maybe they call it registration fee (more formal this way)...

any DIGI staff around?...

May someone let me know what is the standard package in the box of Legend which come with DiGi Smart Plan.
For example :
1. How many GB memory card come with ?
2. Cable ?
3. Software ?
4. Accs. like screen proctector, pouch.....
5. Warranty ? (DiGi provide 1 year, But since SIS provide 2 years, how come? Digi is AP divice ?)
TQ! rclxub.gif

I didn't pay 68 for the plan. They took RM500 'prepaid' from me and that's it.  My receipt writes RM1499.
*
Maybe yours are 2 years contract
RM999 (Phone) + RM500 (Advance Payment) = RM1,499.
But where is another RM68 ?
Maybe you had the discount.

May I know what you get ? Any Free Gift ? Memory Card How many GB ? notworthy.gif

No casing, no screen protector. 2gb micro sd.
I don't use either. Legend is the only thing in my left pocket.

HTC Legend warranty is 2 years. And it's not with DiGi. If problem arises, just head to any HTC service centers. It's unfortunate that customers are still being mis-informed by our store representatives. I'll send a reminder to the device guys to take it up with the store heads.

Oh ya. Do send the warranty card that comes with your phone ya.

Sorry I can't answer things here more promptly, since I still have my daily tasks to handle and meetings to attend. l will try my best to pop in when time allows.

Hey there. Are you switching your call plans to Smart Plan or are you getting a new number entirely?

And yes, I'm a digi staff.

Not an 'official' rep here. Just trying my best to answer queries on an unofficial capacity to help fellow LYN members.

For the RM68, it's standard for DiGi to advance payment for all postpaid plans. Don't worry, we'll deduct it from your first month's bill.

IMPORTANT THING TO KNOW:
In order to receive 2 years warranty, you'll need to send your warranty card with the details filled in to SIS, ya.

This one I got confirmation from guys handling HTC Legend in DiGi, HTC and SIS. It's as official as it gets smile.gif

I'm at the DiGi Retail Store in Solaris/SohoKL now.

There's still stocks for HTC Legend. According to the people running the store there, there are less than 10 units.

Thank for your helping hand.

I ported my line on 13-05-2010 aroung 5:20 pm

I get success sms from DiGi on 14-05-2010 aroung 2:00 pm and can connect to DiGi after 30 minits

I get my Legend after that and wait for only 30 minits to active.

Good job.

But only they charged 2% for using credit card payment. (RM999 + RM568) x 2% = 31

Overall, I still happy and thank to their good services.

But I'm from Johor, already survey around, they all charges 2 - 3 %, maybe this is the problem of Monopolies and DiGi did't fully apply the good policy. rclxub.gif

The Digi guy that I got my Legend told me something that made sense, when I mentioned that I had my eye on Desire. He told me their range of phones offered is based on the competitors. The impression I got was "they give, we give also" kinda thing.

OK! how about speed for DiGi Internet RM68 ?

If i sign up the HTC Legend with 1 years , i need pay rm 1399 as phone price and rm300 as advanced payment?

If i sign up the HTC Legend with 2 years , i need pay rm 999 as phone price and rm500 as advanced payment?

The advanced payment is for what ? That can refundable after end of contact?

Speed is good if u are in the HSPA zone. So far Digi broadband sill the most consistent. Tried it on my notebook with tethering which works just fine too.

RM300? Mine they said have to pay RM500 leh? But I did check and saw the RM500 in my digi balance.

Or isit for one year's bond you just have to pre-paid 300? Guess I didn't read it properly.

Got it at Soho KL's digi center, last I check they still have stock, so I didn't have to end up queueing 2 hours like those who went to times square.

The RM300/RM500 is advance payment. So, it'll be used to deduct from your next few bills.

(also to prevent people from signing up the phone and running off lah).
From the smart plan FAQ.
Q10. I want a phone bundle. How much do I need to pay up front?
A10. You need to pay for the device, advance payment (RM500 for 24 months, RM300 for 12 months, and RM100 for no contract) and additional 1st month’s fee (RM68) assuming you take up DG Smart Plan. These advanced payments will be used to pay for your initial monthly bills.

Hi guys. I just switched from Maxis to Digi RM68 smart plan, done in 1U Digi Specialized Store earlier today, should be expecting my sim to be activated by tomorrow night I guess.

I paid RM68 in advance for the first month payment, but the question is:

I plan to walk in to the Digi Retail Store in SS2 maybe on monday and sign up for the 1-year contract plan for a HTC Legend. Do I have to pay another RM68 + RM300 + RM1399 again?

3. Key in your DiGi mobile number.

4. Wait for SMS from DiGi with the temporary password.

When I did mine, all i need to do was to fill in the forms and get a sim card from Digi, then go to Maxis to pay off the balance and wait til you get 2 sms. one from maxis then digi. once line activated by Digi, I went back to pay and get the phone. easy peasy

2. SS2
3. Solaris Mont Kiara
