Guys for the Smart Plan Lite is it the same like Smart Plan where even though I go over the quota they will only throttle me and not charge me extra?

Hmm all right thanks. Right now I am still deciding whether to get the Smart Plan, Lite or the iDigi plan. They all almost cost the same...

I suggest you check directly with your telco. It is very expensive unless you sign for a special roaming package. Roaming charges is dependent on the foreign country charges plus any additional charges by your local telco

Quote you an example. I am using a special Cerlcom postpaid plan> Last month my billed data roaming charges :

46628 kbytes : RM 814 , that works out to about RM 1.74/kb or about RM 17.40 /MB .

Most Local GPRS data charges for most Msian telcos is about rm10 cents/10kb ie only 1 sen/kb - so you see the vast difference

Example : Spore MI line : local data GPRS charges is S$20 cents/10 kb ie about RM 50 sen/10 kb - here just basic charge alone is 5 times Msia local charges

So to cut down your roaming data charges, it is best you consult your local telco and see what is the best plans ( normally for postpaid ) - Celcom examople has special roaming charges with selected countries. In my example, my Celecom postpaid has special plans and I need not pay the full RM 814 billed amount - there is a very very big discount off it. I know recently Digi under one of its prepaid plans has a fix RM 36 /day roaming data package unlimited data - this is cheap

You wont be able to find much info on this on the telco's websites as it is dependent on the foreign countries rate. So your best choice is still visit your telco, tell them which country you are planning to go to and they will show you the estimated rates

Thanks for the explanation. I wanted to sign up for the Digi plan which offers RM68 per month for unlimited usage. Nt sure if I were to cross over to Thailand or Spore, can it still be used or any additional charges on that... suppose i muz enquire at digi centres?

If you are using Digi SmartPlan - based on this site just need to pay RM 36/day unlimited roaming data to 6 countries, Thailand /Singapore included.

Verify it at Digi and update us , OK ??

I'd think so as the RM 68 plan is meant for local usage. Anyway RM 36/day is a good price since is unlimited.
