I'll post a guide in a bit however this method doesn't work with all channels. As dongster said, there is DRM (or rather scrambling) employed. So it can't be used to replace your STB but its good for streaming HD channels.

Channel list : http://athena.my/imagehost/chanlist.txt

I extracted that by sniffing the STB as it requested an IP from the IPTV service DHCP servers and set itself up. It contains the channel names, properties (encryption/HD/PIP stream/channel bandwidth/etc.) and multicast information to connect to the stream. TM uses UDP multicast for streaming open channels along with RTSP which enables them to provide services such as VOD (RTSP sends account information and time duration for stuff you stream). I've stripped out my account information from the RTSP requests in this file though.

(deleted)

As you can see, I chose Luxe.TV HD for a few reasons. I like it because its HD (IsHDChannel=1). Streams at 8000kbps (ChanBandwith=8000) and has no DRM/scrambling employed (ChanEncrypt=0). I'm assuming they don't use encryption on HD channels (8000kbps+) because the STB can't handle it. Standard channels range between 2000-2048kbps and are all encrypted.

The video quality was much better than using the STB though. Hopefully they won't encrypt the other HD channels as they add them to the IPTV network.
*
ooo, i hope this will not discourage them from introducing more HD channels; if the STB's inability to handle 8000kbps + DRM is true.

Yo dawg, I herd you like picture in picture, so I put a picture in your picture so you can picture while you picture

Streaming 9 channels at once.. this is why your PC > STB any day lol

Also, its confirmed that IPTV is capped at 8mbps (or around 1.10MB/s). I did this test by watching multiple streams till the bandwidth maxed out and the picture started lagging. Network graph topped out at 1.10MB/s down. I'm still unsure about upload speed at the moment but if its capped the same way as the Internet VLAN, it should be 8mbps up/down - unmetered.

If only channels were better laugh.gif I would gladly pay for IPTV which allows streaming of several different channels across the house biggrin.gif

I get the same connection quality in BC2 as I did with Streamyx. When my Unifi was just installed, it was 1x-2x ms.. but 2 days later it became 4x-5x ms like Streamyx.

Anyway, for those of you wondering about the VLAN tags/IDs.. there's no need to guess anymore :

Internet VLAN ID is 500 :
user posted image

IPTV VLAN ID is 600 :
user posted image

If you're interested in sniffing the VLAN IDs yourself, you will need to either have 2 NICs or 1 hub. In this case I used my old ISDN 10mbps hub. Wire the DLink router WAN/Internet port, fiberhome modem and a PC running Linux into the hub. Fire up Wireshark and you're good to go smile.gif It has to be Linux because the Windows Realtek and Intel NIC drivers automatically dump the VLAN information and you wont capture any. VLAN settings should be same for every TM router so this is the info you're going to need if you want to use your routers with custom firmware (dd-wrt?).

Good job bro :-)

Pre record the stream and relase in .torrent

VIP5 user here, installation for my house took only 2 hours (from the time they arrive till they leave).

Description of installation 'config':
i. Phone pole around 25 feet in the back alley
ii. PC room is upstairs (behind)
iii. TV downstairs (front)

They pulled the fiber line from the phone pole to the PC room (1 hole drilled). PC room contains BTU, dect and router. From PC room to downstairs TV setup box is via RJ45 cable.

2 installers, both employed directly under TM.

So from the PC room to the TV downstairs via RJ45, the length of the cable is quite long right? They drilled holes to pull the cable downstairs too?

UPDATE : Picture in Picture stream is not encrypted! biggrin.gif

The PIP stream for all channels is not encrypted. The quality isn't as good as the real channel but those channels are SD anyway. It streams at nearly 1mbps.

The best part is you can just stream it directly in VLC player rofl

Oh okay didn't notice that. There's no label marking it as an ON/OFF button and the original DIR-615 firmware has a Wireless ON/OFF feature.

Quite long 5m - 10m I guess? For my case I already have telephone wires with those hook nails running from my PC room to my TV area, so the installer just followed the same path without drilling. Cables exits the PC room via the free room under the door.

It's using Wireless N if that is what you're asking.

My IPTV streaming sometime freezes when watching a channel for more than 5 minutes. Changing to another channel fixes this but it's only temporary. Do any of you guys know what is my problem?
