I have a question regarding UniFi.

Can I use my own router instead of TM's own Residential Gateway (RG)? I love my WRT54G so much I can't bear to part with it.

Because I can use custom firmware on it. Plus, all the laptops in my home are still using Wireless G.

Edit: Just looked at the user manual and confirmed the RG is actually a D-Link DIR-615 router. It seems that some models can support DD-WRT.

Just installed UniFi VIP5 today, an upgrade from Streamyx 1Mbps. Here are the preliminary results:

International link seems bad. I wish my upload and download speed is the other way around sad.gif

But overall, I'm pretty satisfied.

Speedtest is a useless test for testing torrent / download speeds, my speedtest results don't even come close to actual download speeds that can be achieved with torrents / download programs or even FTP.

Maybe it's accurate for simple browsing.  I'm not sure.

Does anyone know a testing program that is actually accurate?

Yeah, I know. But you get the general idea when surfing or streaming from sites from that country. Otherwise, my torrent speed is around 550 kBps, so that's pretty good.

It's using Wireless N if that is what you're asking.

My IPTV streaming sometime freezes when watching a channel for more than 5 minutes. Changing to another channel fixes this but it's only temporary. Do any of you guys know what is my problem?

Rizvan, thanks for all of your hard work. Haha I'd gladly donate some money for you to further develop methods to use 3rd party firmware on TM DIR-615 tongue.gif
