Can anyone who has already had their unifi installed kindly send a pic on the stb connections? would like to know if i could use a lcd monitor i/o a tv... don't have a proper lcd tv atm... so thinking of using my 22 lcd mont instead... problem would be the sound i guess... so would like to know if they support 3.5mm canon jack or rca cables... else would have to indulge in a lcd tv now (which i would like to avoid until i move house next year)...

additionally, does anyone knows how i could stream the iptv to my PC via wifi? so i could probably not move my lct tv from my room... hehehe...

I think TM should release a package which does not includes the IPTV. I have Astro in my home but I don't watch it too often. So no point to pay the 'rental' for the extra IPTV set-top box and extra hypp.tv channels. It is a waste to subscribe to something I don't watch.

By excluding the IPTV, they can either reduce the price or increase the cap. This will definitely make more people happy.

They want to increase the IPTV based subscribers so they can tender for more channel in the future, that's y they are sticking to the 'ala carte' plan for now. With enough subscriber in the future, who knows they might give us such an option. If you really couldn't care less about IPTV, you can always opt for BIZ5 package, I know MX510 is subscribing to it without company(ask him).

The contractor said not all underground installations are complicated, it depends on the layout of the house and where you want to put your PC and all.
Since my room is practically at the back of the house (2nd floor), they'd have to pull the cable, 'wrap' it around to the back into my room.
Btw, yesterday they did 4 installations. sweat.gif

Another thing is, an easy installation is not a sure thing even if the green box is in front of your house. The contractors had to pull the cable for about 200m for one of the houses that they've worked on, despite the green box being right in front.

Similarly, the green box is just 2 houses away from mine but they had to pull the cable for around 100m.

I was also told that the waiting time for installation now is around 3 weeks. sweat.gif

The IPTV is "as if" being bundled in "free" in the package. For example, if RM149 included a IPTV charge, lets say RM49, that means 5Mbps HSI is RM100. That in turn means Streamyx prices have to be reduced due to the slower speeds.

Only if you say IPTV has a price to it, then you can remove it an substitute with increased cap. But IPTV is using local bandwidth. Increased cap means increased international bandwidth. That cost extra which cannot be covered by removing IPTV as there is no price attached to it as I say above.

I posted in another thread:

My guess is that there will be a cap either at the advertised limit or maybe higher to say its based on user feedback and usage. I doubt it will be lower than initially stated.

I also think they may charge more to remove the cap, eg pay RM50 extra per month and get without the cap. This will then come back to be the same as the RM199 BIZ5 package. So if you are a home user and you can get the BIZ5 package, this could be the reason why. The difference being in IPTV and voice call rates. It does not work the other way though.

There should be no installation for condo/high-rise building. They will give you a VDSL2 modem which connects to your existing phone line.

That's not too bad.. 30 mins after they missed their appointment, I called them and asked to talk to the manager in charged. I then demanded to be reimbursed in a suitable manner (i took a day off) if they don't come in the next hour.. And yea, they came!

Something unrelated to installation. How does the DECT phone work? Can you use your existing fixed line number? Can people call into the DECT phone from outside?
