I got my house fibered last week for unifi. I would like to ask those that have also installed unifi what they think of the fiber cabling job that was done. I actually wanted them to pass the cable over my ceiling from the external FTP. I thought that would have been neat, no drilling, no nailing and concealed. But they told me that it is TM policy not to do cabling in the ceiling. Apparently, a staff had been killed falling off a roof while doing above ceiling cabling. So I ended up with the white fiber clip nailed on the walls and exposed.

Any comments?

I guess it's for safety, reasonable. Though, I see plenty of TM workers climbing up those high poles with very little safety gear.

I live in an apartment, so there shouldn't be as much drilling.

Currently, they are still handling it on their own, to sort out teething issues. After process stabilize, then they will proceed to outsource it - similar to how streamyx started.

If you wanna be an installer, i suggest you head to TM and register as supplier. The registration process can be quite tedious. Once registered, then you can ask to be installer.

Probably not available. That area is probably under Kelana Jaya exchange. Best to check with TM Point.

TM surely are finding ways to alleviate this issue. I was observing closely when they were installing my house. I must say that they were doing as fast as it was possibly could. They did not even stop for lunch. I timed the time the guy took to install a fiber SC connector. He did each connector for under 4 minutes. Lot of time was taken in stringing up the outdoor fiber and nail clipping down the internal fiber from the FTP right up to the BTU. A mango tree was in the way of my outdoor fiber and that took away some time. They did not have any lingering problem during installation and configuring of the equipment. They took 4 hours.

It would seem that the logical solution is to have more installers to go around.

I do hope increase in workers doesn't equal to increase in price or lower in cap...
