QUOTE(rizvanrp @ Apr 8 2010, 07:55 PM) 1) Set its IP to 192.168.0.2 (not necessary but helps you config it later while hooked into Unifi) 2) Disable it's DHCP server 3) Set up the wireless AP parameters (encryption type, key, etc.) Then you can plug the normal LAN port (not uplink/Internet/WAN port) on your _own_ wireless router into one of the blue coloured ports on the TMnet Dlink router. You cannot plug your own equipment into the fiberhome modem directly without it supporting VLANs and knowing the VLAN IDs. See attachment. ok but then my wireless router become useless? not doing dhcp? do they give access to the fiber modem (fiberhome)? what is the LAN 2, 3 and 4 used for in the fiber modem? is that how to set vlan on the modem (image) Attached thumbnail(s)

Really cannot turn off the wireless? How come is like that?
Can the dlink from tm be set to prevent wireless access to the router config gui and also using mac address filter and hide ssid?

WRT610N v2 and tagged VLANCODE I'm currently using Eko's dd-wrt.v24-13575_NEWD-2_K2.6_big.bin, and it is working great. The one thing, however, I have not gotten to work is tagged VLANs -- I would like to have multiple WLAN SSIDs and route them to a central router on different VLANs.
I might have gotten lost in the number of posts (140 pages worth!) in the WRT610N host, but I was under the impression that the VLAN options for the wired switch was not yet supported on this hardware. Does anyone know if that is still true, or if there is something else wrong in my system? CODE VLAN tagging is not supported, not on any of the gigabit switches. None of the router mfgr has it implemented so there is no source code available for this function of the switch. What model wireless router with gigabit lan ports will support vlan? My dad is going to kill me since I just begged him too buy me an expensive router. @rizzy how is the setup with smart switch? fibermodem to 5 port switch, then connect 1 port from switch to own router and another port from switch to set top box for iptv?

QUOTE(tweiyang11 @ Apr 11 2010, 01:00 PM) my wrt310N (gigabit) works fine.... hmm.. are you referring to old posts from dd-wrt forum? cuz sometime ago gigabit switch doesnt support VLAN tagging... new realeases oni can... I read it here http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php...82c0572b7e74125So can WRT610N use vlan? I think mine is ver 1 not ver 2, still can? I read a little bit for flashing DD-WRT but still not confident to try it. If failed my whole family will kill me, except my mom.

Really this is very confusing for me. I can feel the vomit in my mouth sometimes after reading. DD-WRT got mega, micro, mini, eko, brainslayer, K26, K24 version Aiiiigh, I want to ask. That Fibermodem got 4 Lan port, that means it has a switch right? Why can't we set it so Port 1 is for internet (Vlan 500) and can connect any router we want and set Port 2 (Vlan 600) for IPTV and connect to the set top box? Even my ADSL modem got simple routing function which I disabled sigh. I mention this is because the VOIP is straight from Fibermodem to the Dect Phone. That means it can segregate (Vlan 700, assuming not sure) as VOIP into the telephone port.

Rizzy, if we connect the Fibermodem to a 5 Port Smart Switch (SW). Port 1 of the SW connect to the Fibermodem. Port 2 of the SW to a router and Port 3 to the set-top-box. Can the Port 4 & 5 of the SW be used?
Can we connect a PC to Port 4 or 5 and we can share files etc with PCs connected to the router on Port 2? Are PCs connected to Port 4/5 on a different network from the ones connected to the router?

QUOTE(rizvanrp @ Apr 13 2010, 01:22 AM) All you need to do to use it is to have your laptop network card in DHCP mode (no static IP set, obtain automatically) and plug it into the *red* IPTV port on the back of your TM DIR-615 router. When it gets an IP in the 10.x.x.x range, open up the playlist file in VLC and select the channel you want to watch. I thought the set top box was still connected to the iptv port on the DIR-615 and at the same time you managed to stream it to your laptop wirelessly from the DIR-615. Wishful thinking but I thought my little bro could watch Cbeebies downstairs on the TV and I could watch FashionTV in my room. QUOTE(rizvanrp) For those of you who have complained about the IPTV picture's poor quality and 'flickering'/'shaking'.. is it caused by PCR jitter? http://documents.exfo.com/appnotes/anote175-ang.pdfThis post has been edited by surreall: Apr 13 2010, 12:56 PM

QUOTE(rizvanrp @ Apr 13 2010, 05:32 PM) Eh, thats what you can do with my method. However you must hook up another wireless router to the IPTV port to act as a wireless AP. Like I said before, all devices connected to the IPTV port are put onto the IPTV network. So if you hook up a wireless router/AP to it, you can then wire your STB to that AP while having your laptop connected to it via wifi card at the same time. Your laptops wifi card will be assigned an IP address in the IPTV subnet and you will be able to just open VLC and stream the channels regardless of what the STB is doing Oh ok but then I would not be able to surf the web if I am on the IPTV subnet right? Unless I load a VM and make it use my wifi for iptv and my normal os uses the wired lan port for internet. I guess that will work? But then again I should not bother too much since the Unifi people will just make spoil and block everything

QUOTE(rizvanrp @ Apr 18 2010, 04:48 AM) When I last tested the TM DIR-615 firmware, I didn't know what the hell was going on. I ran 3 torrents on 1 PC and my other PC could not establish any connections at all. Basically hit a connection limit. The web server for the TM DIR-615 firmware was also limited to 15 connections, if you ran the apache benchmark tool on it and set it to 15 threads you basically would DoS the router. Now I know everything >=) Will keep you guys posted of course They so insistent for us to use their FREE router with their custom firmware so they can throttle us at home instead? Great job rizz.
