i enquired for TH-P50U20K at SenQ and was quoted RM4999 without the BD player .... but have to wait 3 weeks as currently no stock  doh.gif
anyone knows where else can get this plasma ?  and what's a good price for it ? ... notworthy.gif

u can get much cheaper than this...at puchong, next to Mitsubishi showroom and near to entrance new wing IOI Mall, you can get this unit at rm4699, if come together with BD player, u can get it at rm5299...it was ready stock and i believe the price can be lowered down a bit if you hard bargain with the salesman...

Hi Guys,

I'm just a new owner of Plasma TV (never buy any plasma before).
My Plasma is Panasonic V20,
The only problem that I have is...why if I put black image in the screen it doesn't look as black as my old LCD, it is more grayish black.

I'm alittle bit confused, since I bought the TV just to expect INFINITE BLACK expereience of plasma.

Is my unit faulty or this is a natural of plasma.

Anyway, when the TV off, the screen also look dark grey.

Please help to enlighten me.

Thanks guys

Maybe your TV need calibration. You can PM anfieldude. He is expert in calibration. You can consult him regarding the black issue. Truth me, he is real expert in this matter. nod.gif

Is this in a bright environment? Is there light hitting the screen?

The only way a plasmas black screen looks dark grey is if u crank up the brightness, selected the wrong colour space or if there is direct light hitting the screen....

What is the source of your "black image"? Is it a photo? Or from SD movie source? Is it supposed to be a completely black image (something you can verify independently eg a black dress that you took a photo of?)

Depending on the origin of your black image, your LCD may not be rendering it realistically. So it may not be a fair comparison.

No, my room is quite dim, I'm using warm lightbuld.
The preset color I used is normal, brighness and contras is 40 (still in break in period)
All is default. Even I turned down all the lights, it still show dark gray, at least not complete black as in my LCD.

My working hours is still 100 hours, I'm using break in slides.

I just want to have the insight, is there any problem of the TV or it just not calibrated well.

Actually for the movie, the black is quiete fair, but when displaing total black images, it's not quite black, it's more like the panel color (like when the TV off, which the panel color is. Dark grey).

I'm not sure about 0% IRE, but it is dark in my eyes, the room is not totally pitch black (some light is enter from the window) eventhough not grey, but not as black as my LCD. My LCD is quite old, it is sharp BXML series.

this V20k , if there's no signal input , the blank screen will not be as black/dark as many other models. however , if there's a signal input ,meaning to say when you play a movie from any HD source and even DVD, the black level is impressive , especially in dim environment . i have tried it on the latest Batman and others, and i'm impressed. you're probably confused blank screen with black levels. i have a sammy R8 LCD and the blank screen is always blacker than this V but once there's a signal feed , this V comes to live

why did you set the brightness to +40 when the default is at 0 and you are still doing the breaking-in . this neoplasma panel is so good that even when the brighness is set at low , the white level are still very impressive and in dark scenes the shadow details is still good and clear. i really love this babe. the color reproduction is awesome

Just walk by the Best Denki shop displaying the v20 model. For 4.999k retail price, its as good as money can get for the quality (42"). Heck I think its really cheap for the price as compared with other TV models in the same category.

If you can wait, maybe another year will drop to 3.6k, I'm hoping by then I'll move in to a new house haha

If default brightness is indeed 0 as what sunnyK says and u set to 40, then that answers why the blacks are grey.
