jitbeng,

I'm happy to hear that ur black levels are not elevating. Maybe the Asian non neo-PDPs are not effected. However, how do u determine that? Are u using any reference tools? Or based on some pictures that u snapped or just by eye?
*
By eye. Off & on I will freeze the picture & compare the black colour of the picture on the screen with the black frame of the TV. With normal room lighting & dimmed lighting condition I see no difference before & after the 1000 hours. I do not watch in a completely dark environment as it is not practical for me.

After everything is said & done, the bottom line for me is that I am completely 110% satisfied with the performance of my TV.

Thanks

I am glad to hear you are very happy with your TV.  Hope you will enjoy it to the fullest.

I am using the P42S10K bought in Dec 2009.  What I did was to set the brightness & contrast settings to 50 with eco mode off & watch whatever with these settings for the first 200 hours.

Exceeded 1000 hours already.  So far no IR/Burn-In problem whatsoever. And also no deterioration in black level whatsoever.  Black is as black as it can be.  After watching for the day, will "wash" the screen for 30 mins (timer set) & to auto shut off.

Thanks

Hi jitbeng,

My 42X28K settings for HDMI (Astro Byond) and AVI (DVD player) is contrast 48, brightness 50, colour 48 with eco mode always at Off position. I notice that if I set eco mode to ON position, the picture is brighter and richer in bright surroundings, in this case usually daytime. But at night, if the eco mode is turned on, the picture is dimmer. But when the eco mode is turned Off, the picture is similar to the ON mode at daytime.

So, I've decided to permanently set the eco mode to OFF position and have the settings for contrast at 48, colour at 50 and brightness at 50, PNR min. Already done approx. 50 + hours.

Appreciate your opinion on the above settings.

# Then press and hold the {MUTE} button on the remote for 3 seconds.

TIME = Hours and Minutes of Operation.
COUNT = Times the Plasma was Powered On.

# To exit, press & hold the {POWER} button on the TV for few seconds.

The above for going into the service menu & checking the hour usage. Please be very careful when you go into the service menu.

What I do for "washing" is to press the TV button on the remote. Since I am using Astro, the outside TV aerial is not connected. So if you press the TV button on the remote, there will be no input signal to the TV. The screen will show a snowy picture. Set the Timer (max 90mins).

Thanks

Your settings looks good.

My settings now in Normal mode is, Contrast=Either 70 or 80, Brighness=40(-10), Colour=39, Colour Balance=Cool, Colour Management=Off, Sharpness=80 & PNR=min.
In Setup/Other Settings:- Intelligent Frame Creation=Off & Power Save=On

In the Picture Menu, Normal mode is for watching Astro (non-B'yond). 50% of the time

Cinema mode for watching DVD/BR. 5%

Game mode for Xbox 360. 10%

Dynamic mode for PC (Net surfing). 30%

Dynamic mode for PC (download movies/tv shows). 5%

All the modes above will have their own individual settings.

This is what I read in one review " Eco mode which adjusts the average picture level for max energy efficiency (surprising, it makes the image brighter rather darker)".

Yah! a bit strange the eco setting mode! My interpretation is there is a sensor near the on/off button. When eco mode is on it senses the surrounding lightning conditions in the daytime to be bright & therefore increases the brightness to compensates for it. So it is the reverse in the night.

So turn it off. The brightness will be the same for day & night. In my opinion it is better because you are in control.

Try to vary your viewing content.

I watch Astro, DVD/BR, downloaded movie/tv shows, play Xbox & surfing the Net. Practically all my AV is centered on the TV.

Thanks

hey jitbeng,

many thanks for the guidance on how to check up the hour of viewing on our plasma....as for me, after 100days of ownership my plasma p42s10k, it showed that my time viewing it was 822 hours and 30 minutes with count 330 times...considering i got this plasma more than 3 months ago which around 100 days, it means i power on my plasma around 8 hours per day with 3 time on it each day...i thought watch it more than that since i'm working from home...

up till now, i'm still enjoying my plasma as it delivered superb PQ and the speaker is decent enough to produce good sound as well...there's no problem at all on my unit....truly satisfied...
