Personally, I own U20 and I think it looks simple enough for my taste and matches my 'all-black/dark colour' theme. Prefer something 'low profile' but

powderful enough. tongue.gif brows.gif

Only the VT30 has the one sheet glass design actually.. The rest down the line will spot a slimmer black bezel.

While I do like Panasonic's Plasma, I find even LG have more trendy and fashionable bezel.

Don't know about you guys, but I only look at the tv when I am actually watching something on the screen, and the screen is all that matters to me personally...otherwise it's just something rectangular on the wall...LOL! But yeah I get what you mean.

im gonna wait v20 to come with black bezel. the grey its actually abit distracting bcoz black bezel is the one to give best contrast to the display
*
In fact, it doesn't really looks light grey in color (not something like the one shown in the Sports channels - the EPL live that sponsored by Panny), it's more in dark grey or copper metal look especially under the yellow or warm lighting.

When u talked about "giving the best contrast to the display" concept, isn't it better to have lighter color surrounding/background (eg. white wall), or ambience light in white?

nope. darkest/blackest surrounding is the best to let the screen perform best. this is why the cinema hall rooms are all dark when playing movies

I got a tough question -

Should I go for a bigger size (50") or more features (42").

I am torn between choosing a TH-P50U20K and a TH-P42V20K..

Kindly advise oh great masters...

Pick the V20 because of the better ARC filter and PQ.

The other features on V20 are overrated. Your PC provides far better features. Just plug it into the V20.

That said, I would still prefer black non reflective bezels as it would allow the black bars of 2.35:1 aspect ratios to blend in with the bezel and if a bias light is used, it will give the best possible combo. Grey is not that great a colour in my opinion, more important that its matte black. However, most premium models, use black but its reflective.

law1777,

Yes, but I was attempting to let u know that ur initial logic of comparing to cinema is not accurate for fixed panel displays.

But in short, I shd have not wasted my time trying to explain it as I notice most of the time when I attempt to explain it to ensure that people are educated, most are just interested in the punch line. In the future, I will remind myself of that each time I think about posting in detail.

Thank you sir ;-)

Even the spouse told me to get the 42" V20

So, I've bitten the bullet and ordered one.. Delivery by lunch hour tomorrow.

I got the wall mount bracket too.. Spouse gonna drill the wall and hang it..

I told spouse to mount it at shoulder height from the plasma's bottom panel.. About 5 feet from floor to plasma..

What do you guys all think?

Err ... I think the correct height of the TV should be slightly below or at eye-level when you are sitting on your favorite sofa to watch TV. At 5 feet from the ground, you and your family may have to crane your necks when watching the TV especially if the distance to the TV is close (less than 8 feet away). Can be a bit uncomfortable especially if you are having a movie marathon , don't you think?

BTW, if you are going for 42", sitting distance from TV should be no more than 8 feet away to be able to fully discern the details provided by full-HD.

The height of your present CRT TV is the same height as your new V20, i.e., eye level.

anfieldude, i feel yr pain. many here don't even bother with a simple "thank you" even when you've taken the time to answer their queries. they just take everything for granted. there's just no common decency. hope you change yr mind and continue to provide valuable input. i for one have learnt a lot from you. cheers and have a good weekend.

Bro please continue to educate us. I know sometimes it is difficult as it seems that no one is listening but some of us are and we do appreciate your input. (I should know, I used to be a lecturer at some local colleges rclxub.gif )

please continue to educate us noobs. thumbup.gif Some of us are listening and if we haven't said it - THANK YOU!

P.S. I would get you to calibrate my plasma but I don't have one yet. Do you do projectors? Also how much you charge for calibration. Also you go to east Malaysia to do calibrations? whistling.gif
