basically, it's a laptop intel CPU. Should be fine unless you have specific requirements...ex: outputing Dolby Digital+ from NETFLIX to AVR using Intel GPU is not possible. If just normal usage should be fine. And always stream using wired LAN connection, especially HD rips > 8GB.

Playing media files should be no problem. You are connecting to AVR?

All these links on this search sound not promising

https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrom...NUC%2C+DTS+HDMA

even on intel forum

https://communities.intel.com/message/221266

So instead of spending 1K + on NUC, we shall buy China cheap windows 8.1 mini PC then

http://www.lazada.com.my/voyo-win-81-mini-...ry-1074943.html

Waddaya think?

Hi, looking to buy intel nuc-5i3ryh. Mainly for hd ripped / ISO bd movies and online streaming. Can anyone confirm this model can pass thru dts-ma and Dolby truehd? Will be running windows 7 or 8.

I recon software like kodi is best to play media files?

Googling doesn't help much on this model.

Thx

earlier i also had interest on the intel nuc 5i3ryh.

but the price is just too much (for me) to spend on a box. i think including rams and ssd about RM1.6k to Rm1.7k

sweat.gif sweat.gif

Waiting for price to come down hehehee

Not sure if DTS-Ma and Dolby trueHD works. but it should work

Thanks for replying. Must use ssd? Does it works on conventional 2.5"? I have some extras lying around.

Agree the price is not competitive after adding other parts.

Is lowyat plaza a good place to try them out since will be there for KLIAV

Cheers

Yes, raspberry is in my list but I have not done much research on it yet. My curiosity got the better of me since I only came to know about Intel Haswell lately.

Plus my 6 year old desktop showing sign of dying.

from what i read on the internet, best you to get SSD, if not you will have lag using the interface.

I connect my PC via hdmi to my avr(yamaha aventage series). I used mpchc + madvr setting & LAV. My graphic card is nvidia 550ti. In LAV, I checked to bitstream all audio options. Let's say I play a video with 2 audio channel, then my avr will decode the audio to 5.1 channel. But I can just play the original audio in 2 channel too. Just pass thru(bitstream) the audio and play with your avr settings.
Hope this help.
