I was about to ask the same question. Haha..
Most likely we need to get the stock ROM from HTC? No?

Now that I already flashed it with custom ROM I think this phone will stay with longer than my previous phone so I guess I won't be reverting to the stock one.
*
LOL Hopefully someone knows. I'd be more comfortable if I could switch back to the original firmware anytime I want. Especially if I'm unfortunate enough to need to send the phone for warranty.

As for now, I'm still reading up on how to root the Legend.

Oh, one question - Does the phonebook app in Rodriguezstyle's custom ROM able to pull photos from Facebook? It's the same phonebook app found on the Nexus One isn't it?

And how does the Live Wallpaper perform on the Legend? And lags? But pretty sure it'll drain the battery even quicker now.

Just got my legend 3 days ago and it feels solid. Same feedback of battery life.
However, i seem to face this problem where the phone doesn't turn off automatically. I know you can set the screen to time out but it doesn't turn off. It'll just stay dimmed until the battery drains out.

Is this normal and do i have to turn it off everytime

Is this normal

Now that you mentioned about sending for warranty claim, it just hit me. It didn't occur to me probably because I was so sure that this phone is built like a tank and there's no need to claim warranty. haha.. how silly. Ok time to search for stock ROM now, shall we?

Regarding the phonebook, I have synced all my contacts to Gmail. So everytime I flash the phone, I save the hassle of getting my contacts back to the phone because as soon as you're connected and signed in to Gmail from the phone, it will sync all your contacts back to the phone, with their photos of course.

I'm not sure about it being able to pull photos from Facebook. There is now 'Contacts' app in Rodriguez's ROM apart from the stock 'People' which I found , to me at least, redundant. Not sure if the phonebook app is the one from Nexus One because I never had experience with Nexus One yet.

Live Wallpaper is not sluggish, no lags but I don't like the ones that come with the ROM so I just use my own wallpaper. We only use LWP when we want to show off the phone only, don't we? hehe.. just kidding.

owh btw, regarding the Sense. I was wrong about it. It is actually there but it FC on me when I want to change scenes. So I am stuck with only one scene.
Anyone managed to use other scenes, if any?

Yep, I have all my contacts sync'ed to my Gmail account too. But I love to see photos in my phonebook rather than a gray silhouette tongue.gif Hence, if it is able to pull photos from the Facebook like the current 'People' app now does would be great.

Regarding LWP - Yeah, it serves no real purpose other than being an eye candy biggrin.gif

Yep, we shall look for stock ROM. Can you please post the link up here if you manage to find it? Ditto to myself.

I'm still downloading the over 200mb of 'required files' for rooting. Not sure what is it, don't think it is mentioned in the guide, but its even larger than the custom ROM itself at 129mb LOL.

Oh btw, I don't have a card reader! Is that really necessary? Crap sad.gif

If your current phonebook have photos, fret not because they will be back when you sync the phone to your google account after flashing.
I made a contact backup anyways just to be sure. The first time I flashed, I restored the contact to the phone and and then only I get it connected. As a result I have double entries due to the sync haha.

The 'required files' contains test image as well as the rooted image, hence the 200mb. Then you also need to download the custom ROM which is another 100+ Mb. Then again you need Android SDK which is just another couple of hundreds of Mbs.

Yes, you need the adapter to make the 'goldcard'. If you get your phone from SIS, you definitely need to make a gold card (or maybe I do not know how to not to make one hehe). Otherwise you will get an error during the 1st step. During this process you need to connect the card to your card reader (hence the need of the adapter) and run that HxD thingy to 'stamp' your SD card accordingly. Just follow the 'how to make a goldcard' guide and you cant go wrong.

it's a fun thing to do, seriously.

I do have the adapter but I don't have a card reader. Hmmmm gotta leech from someone tongue.gif I'm sure it's a fun thing to do, though I hope it was as easy as jailbreaking an iPhone.

Anyway, how's your experience so far with the custom ROM?

Rooting Legend is one of the inevitable thing to do in the future.

For those who is experienced in rooting, can you give a step-by-step guide on rooting and flashing back to stock rom? If there's such guide, then it would be great and TS can update the first post.

Rooting is not hard, unrooting i'm not sure as i haven't really go into it yet heh

A replied from paul, the fella who made all these rooting possible

"The image you flash on during root is basically a stock image.

If you just boot to recovery, 'adb shell mount system', 'adb shell rm /system/app/Superuser.apk' and 'adb shell rm /system/xbin/su' then it is virtually indistinguishable from a stock device."

this is the custom rom we all using atm i think biggrin.gif

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=679122

not much additional features available for now, just live wallpaper on sense, a2sd, root apps support
btw, i have a bug on having insufficient space (cache space) when trying to install some apps, have to wipe the cache in recovery mode to fix it

again, do it at your own risk laugh.gif

yes the link above is the correct stock ROM for my legend, at least.

How do I know? Because I noted down the version prior to my rooting session. I have now unrooted my phone successfully and I got back my Celcom scene together with the Celcom scene just like the first time I got the phone tongue.gif

The process is rather simple. Basically you plug your phone , switch it on and run the RUU. and then next, next, next until you're done. It took me less than 10 minutes.

Owh, I made a goldcard first before running the RUU (I am not sure if this is necessary though).

So guys / gals .. go ahead .. root your phone away! hehehe..

Nothing specific. Just haven't seen anything that catches my eye yet. Apps2SD probably is what I would want in the near future but for now, I don't need it since there aren't that many apps that I need on my phone. Apps that usually take a lot of space are games but I don't play portable games on my phone (have an NDS for that). So yea...nothing a custom ROM can give me at the moment that will really 'enhance' the usability of my phone.

I'm sure I'll try it one day though. Already read up a bit on rooting so I'm a little prepared for it =)

I think if Google wants Android to excel in this industry they will need a way to allow apps2sd available. This is the first step to allow developers to create apps that are more appealing to the mass market (mostly candy eye stuff).

I think they planned to have it from the start cuz if you look at most android phones (even the higher end ones), they come with relatively small internal memory but at the same time, they offer apps on the market.

I believe what they are trying to do with the 'official' apps2sd is a system that can prevent piracy. I don't think it matters what they do though, since the android community have some really good hackers.

EDIT: I'll put a link up on the 1st page for the official ROM and the Rodriguez style ROM.

at the moment is not up yet as it is only currently "rumoured" to have in the froyo update. the strangest thing is that the developers at the current google i/o have been given a droid running on android 2.0.1

I actually quite like the UI on the Nexus One. I'm still hoping someone will put up a video demo'ing Rodriguez custom ROM before I decide to flash it. In the mean time, still hunting for the card reader LOL.

1. I see some of you all complain about the problems wit this phone...does this phone have any serious problems?
2. For those who bought under digi promotion is the internet unlimited stable? and also how is the coverage? let say if that place does not have 3g coverage would it auto switch to edge?
