QUOTE(konholio @ May 7 2010, 10:54 PM) To to share my, i use my Legend to read my company exchange mail. if you receive mail from exchange it will enforce you to set password for screen unlock. Today i change password and forget what is password. after 11th time key in wrong password. it will erase data. luckily it some sort like factory reset and phone is still usable. phew... scare the hell out of me. |

I have tried v2.1 but I don't like it. The Market just force close every time I'm downloading an app. Plus the Sense is missing and that is one of the reason I get the Legend in the first place. I have reverted to stock rooted for the time being until next update.
It's fast anyways and the live wallpaper is cool! QUOTE(d3m0n @ May 18 2010, 09:18 PM) |

Basically, here is what I did :
Install HTC Sync to your computer. You can use the installer from our SD card inside 'Tool' folder. (this will provide the USB drivers for the next steps). 1) Create a gold card. http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/ 2) Root your legend http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-lege...ow-with-1-31-x/ 3) Put new ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=679122 you need to have the SD card adapter handy. quite tricky at some parts especially at setting up ADB. for an IT person, this should not be hard. Hope this helps. Oh.. just so you know, it took me at least 5 attempts step 1) above QUOTE(zc_squash @ May 18 2010, 11:15 PM) Added on May 19, 2010, 12:06 amwahh.. as I'm replying the above, v2.2 was just out! I've just flashed to v2.2 .. and I do not have Sense! (pun intended). Grrrr!
'The application HTC Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again'. force close. Anyone managed to get the Sense working? QUOTE(zc_squash @ May 19 2010, 08:29 AM) Hey mate, thanks for the reply. And oh gosh, look at this in 2.2: Full LiveWallpaper support with HTC Sense. Really?! The only reason I was hesitating about was losing Sense (no pun intended). I really like how the Legend's People integrates with our social networking accounts. By the way, does the speech-to-text keyboard comes with the custom ROM as well? Thanks |

I envy u, my fren hehe.
I don't know where have I gone wrong. I will try one more time later. LWP works fine but when I want to change 'scenes', it force close on me. Another thing, I cannot find the option to change the lock wallpaper as per stock ROM. Btw, when you mentioned apps are installed into SD, do we have to do that manually or it will automatically install to SD? e.g: using Market. QUOTE(d3m0n @ May 19 2010, 10:08 AM) |

I was about to ask the same question. Haha..
Most likely we need to get the stock ROM from HTC? No? Now that I already flashed it with custom ROM I think this phone will stay with longer than my previous phone so I guess I won't be reverting to the stock one. QUOTE(zc_squash @ May 19 2010, 11:04 PM) I must say the biggest thing I miss about the iPhone is the apps and the iPod. The stock music player on the Android is rather unpolished, but the good news is there are plenty of alternative players out there for download. Other than that, I think I'm enjoying every bit of freedom Android is giving me. Now gotta find a way to flash it to the custom ROM Speaking of which, how to restore back to the original firmware. Can anyone please help? |

Now that you mentioned about sending for warranty claim, it just hit me. It didn't occur to me probably because I was so sure that this phone is built like a tank and there's no need to claim warranty. haha.. how silly. Ok time to search for stock ROM now, shall we?
Regarding the phonebook, I have synced all my contacts to Gmail. So everytime I flash the phone, I save the hassle of getting my contacts back to the phone because as soon as you're connected and signed in to Gmail from the phone, it will sync all your contacts back to the phone, with their photos of course. I'm not sure about it being able to pull photos from Facebook. There is now 'Contacts' app in Rodriguez's ROM apart from the stock 'People' which I found , to me at least, redundant. Not sure if the phonebook app is the one from Nexus One because I never had experience with Nexus One yet. Live Wallpaper is not sluggish, no lags but I don't like the ones that come with the ROM so I just use my own wallpaper. We only use LWP when we want to show off the phone only, don't we? hehe.. just kidding. owh btw, regarding the Sense. I was wrong about it. It is actually there but it FC on me when I want to change scenes. So I am stuck with only one scene. Anyone managed to use other scenes, if any? QUOTE(zc_squash @ May 19 2010, 11:50 PM) LOL Hopefully someone knows. I'd be more comfortable if I could switch back to the original firmware anytime I want. Especially if I'm unfortunate enough to need to send the phone for warranty. As for now, I'm still reading up on how to root the Legend. Oh, one question - Does the phonebook app in Rodriguezstyle's custom ROM able to pull photos from Facebook? It's the same phonebook app found on the Nexus One isn't it? And how does the Live Wallpaper perform on the Legend? And lags? But pretty sure it'll drain the battery even quicker now. |

If your current phonebook have photos, fret not because they will be back when you sync the phone to your google account after flashing.
I made a contact backup anyways just to be sure. The first time I flashed, I restored the contact to the phone and and then only I get it connected. As a result I have double entries due to the sync haha. The 'required files' contains test image as well as the rooted image, hence the 200mb. Then you also need to download the custom ROM which is another 100+ Mb. Then again you need Android SDK which is just another couple of hundreds of Mbs. Yes, you need the adapter to make the 'goldcard'. If you get your phone from SIS, you definitely need to make a gold card (or maybe I do not know how to not to make one hehe). Otherwise you will get an error during the 1st step. During this process you need to connect the card to your card reader (hence the need of the adapter) and run that HxD thingy to 'stamp' your SD card accordingly. Just follow the 'how to make a goldcard' guide and you cant go wrong. it's a fun thing to do, seriously. QUOTE(zc_squash @ May 20 2010, 12:27 AM) Yep, I have all my contacts sync'ed to my Gmail account too. But I love to see photos in my phonebook rather than a gray silhouette Regarding LWP - Yeah, it serves no real purpose other than being an eye candy Yep, we shall look for stock ROM. Can you please post the link up here if you manage to find it? Ditto to myself. I'm still downloading the over 200mb of 'required files' for rooting. Not sure what is it, don't think it is mentioned in the guide, but its even larger than the custom ROM itself at 129mb LOL. Oh btw, I don't have a card reader! Is that really necessary? Crap |

yes the link above is the correct stock ROM for my legend, at least.
(http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Legend/RUU_Legend_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.31.707.2_Radio_47.26.35.04_7.05.35.26L_release_121965_signed.exe) How do I know? Because I noted down the version prior to my rooting session. I have now unrooted my phone successfully and I got back my Celcom scene together with the Celcom scene just like the first time I got the phone The process is rather simple. Basically you plug your phone , switch it on and run the RUU. and then next, next, next until you're done. It took me less than 10 minutes. Owh, I made a goldcard first before running the RUU (I am not sure if this is necessary though). So guys / gals .. go ahead .. root your phone away! hehehe.. QUOTE(Kyl3 @ May 20 2010, 08:45 AM) Rooting is not hard, unrooting i'm not sure as i haven't really go into it yet heh A replied from paul, the fella who made all these rooting possible "The image you flash on during root is basically a stock image. If you just boot to recovery, 'adb shell mount system', 'adb shell rm /system/app/Superuser.apk' and 'adb shell rm /system/xbin/su' then it is virtually indistinguishable from a stock device." __________________________________ this is the custom rom we all using atm i think http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=679122 not much additional features available for now, just live wallpaper on sense, a2sd, root apps support btw, i have a bug on having insufficient space (cache space) when trying to install some apps, have to wipe the cache in recovery mode to fix it again, do it at your own risk |

Are you using the earphones that comes with the box or a different one?
You sure you have pushed it all the way down? Because at first I thought I was having the same problem like you until I realized that it hasn't been pushed it all the way down. There shouldn't be a gap between both. QUOTE(extremeken @ May 22 2010, 12:37 AM) |

riziger, what wallpaper app do you use?
so far when I use the default wallpaper app (menu -> wallpaper), it will ask me to crop the pic unless the pics size is the exact same size of the whole 7 'desktops'. I would normally drag the green 'crop' line to cover the most possible area of the pic. Same method with lock screen wallpaper. If the pics size is of the same pixels, it will not ask me to crop. QUOTE(riziger @ Jun 2 2010, 03:26 AM) Just updated. Seems nothing went missing, of course it's still safer to back up everything first. This post has been edited by delphiniumo: Jun 2 2010, 06:35 AM1 question, why is it that when I want to set wallpaper/lock screen, using downloaded pics etc, it forces me to crop the pic then when that happens the pic appears damn pixelised and zoomed. Ugly. Then the same exact pic on a wallpaper app, when I press set as wallpaper, it appears nicely. Don't really make sense. Whats the point of me downloading the wallpapers to my photos then? Or is there a way to counter this? Nothing major, but troublesome to scroll thru again and again if i wanna change wallpapers frequently |
