lol,
preference likes, i myself quite like the design and look (from the pic/video)
the ergonomic idea of this design, bring comfort when typing with slight angle at the palmrest area.
haven't seen the real unit in action at the moment.

drool.gif Yea, I think currently it is the only gaming laptop equipped with 1GB DDR5 VRAM of ATi 5870. Just like what -kytz- has said, Mucro Asia got sells this monster but it will only available 26-02-2010 onwards. The price is RM 5,828.65 (including o% tax) and also need to add another RM 200 - 300 for delivery fee from Singapore to Malaysia. As for the battery pack, I only know that it is a 8 cells Lithium- Ion cubic size battery.

really impressed with ASUS comeback to the gaming scene with this no nonsense gaming notebook!! they really took to heart the strong complains bout the heating issues on its prev batch of gaming notebooks & rectified the problem by having this new "exhaust" system in th G73...

Good to see alienware having a new competitor!! Good for us gamers!! smile.gif

Sager is always there to compete wit Alienware...

however the 2 are more established in the gaming industry since they both concentrate on this niche market...

Asus on the other hand have virtually a model for each and different market... the original G series (G1 and G2) were actually pretty disappointing... but starting from the 2nd gen (G50, G70, G71), it's much more promising, and could throw out some good performance compared to AW and Sager...

now come the 3rd gen (G51 and G73), i do hope Asus can bring out some surprises...

Return Merchandise Authorization...

meaning the laptop was returned to the seller to request for repair... thus the laptop is considered an old unit...

one thing that you shouldn't be worry about laptop that equipped with ATi HD5000 Series is temperature of your GPU.

HD5870 vs HD5770... the former has double the SP and bandwidth of the latter...

USB 3.0 is pretty useless now... nothing can really make full use of it except for SSD...

nah.. there's still a limitation for other devices... as long as the transfer speed of the device is less than 480Mbps (or 60MB/s, which is the max speed of USB2.0), whether u use USB3.0 does not matter (which provides a max bandwidth of 4.8Gbps, or 600MB/s)...

so the hd5000 series doesnt emit that much heat but able to maintain their high performance?
wow thats great man smile.gif

what about cpu? any cpu can be overclocked till 6ghz but maintain its temperature low?
hopefully it will have one soon ^^ so everyone play with heat-free laptop.

so this means that the gpu temp of g73 is generally much lower compared to otehr laptops?

HD5000 has excellent idle TDP... iirc the desktop HD5770 consumes juz slightly less than 20W in idle... which is far better than HD4800...

6GHz but low temp???? sure can... liquid nitrogen lor... laugh.gif

LOL... liquid nitrogen? no need i guess. cuz it will cost more than rm2000 (electric fee) to maintain that liquid form of nitrogen.

I got confirm with xoticpc and noticed that they don't accept Credit Card.
It's really bad news to me and also my own fault for not reading their FAQ section.
I think it's time for me to say bye bye to this baby.
Let's wait it available in Malaysia and see how's it go.
I'll stick with my humble desktop and a pure working notebook for time being.

i really thought it was solved by ATI 5000 Series and massive-lookin cooling system.

Mr.Moo mentioned that DDR5 run a lot hotter than DDR3 too.

if the overheat problem persistent, Dx11 is the main point to choose HD 5000 Series over GTX285.

I will buy this machine from MUCRO after this machine is available again on 26.03.10. RM5,600 without customization is still consider expensive. I am going to change the BR Reader to DVD DL Drive, it save a lot. At least can cover a bit of TNT shipping cost later.

you can buy it online through mucro asia. the price stated on the website for rm is rm5486.84. the extra charges are only for delivery. for more info on the laptop you can go to http://www.mucro.asia/index.php?/Asus-Note...s-G73JH-A1.html. officially there's no tax on eletronic items. unless the customs people decide to make their own rule and hold ur laptop and require you to pay to take it. but from what i heard ordering from xotic pc could be cheaper according to ineser but he said based on a sager laptop.

Just to add something about shipping from Xotic. It is definitely not USD60. Expect around the range of USD200-270 depending on the 3 choices of delivery that Xotic has. (at least for the G73JH)

As far as customer service, if that is important to you, then Xotic should be your choice unless Mucro has miraculously up their game and responds to customer inquiries before purchase.

And Xotic's banks does not charge anything for wire transfer. However be sure to check with your bank if they are using an agent. That agent will charge a fee and it will be better if you inform your bank to charge it directly from your account so the total amount that reaches Xotic will not be less than what its supposed to be.

Asus G73JH is win in design wise, maybe ventilation.

But sager NP8690 offers better cooling solution with the x oz of copper for their cooling solution. Anyway, Both asus and sager did a better job compared to Alienware All Powerful M15x with gt240m(pricing rm6k) but gtx260m will cost around rm6.6k already. doh.gif

Not to forget that screen is not full 1080p HD. its only 1600x900. That would be allow user to play medium detail smoothly on most games under 1600x900 resolution.

I think its going to be hard for Asus Malaysia since outside malaysia is suffering from stocks shortage.
Still, alienware is getting most attentions.

well, there's one thing about asus g series. The price drops really low when the graphic card hardware is outdating. Let's take 8600m GT. Most Graphic especially HD4570/HD5470 in market is on par with it now.

Hehe..what do you mean "not really responsive". It is practically non-existent response lol.

Either they are REALLY busy with countless of orders everyday and can't be bothered with prospective customers or they just really don't care smile.gif

But from what I see, their business strategy is to only reply/response to your inquiries if you place an order with them and pay them upfront. Other than that . . it's just like them telling prospective customers to get from someone else who actually wants to sell you something smile.gif

Well..that's just MY opinion wink.gif

P.S: I ain't gonna be spending RM5K and above without inquiring properly about the product and whatnots shakehead.gif

Yes, cheaper than alienware for the least. Good thing about Asus warranty compare to Sager is their international warranty which makes it valid anywhere but RMA in malaysia will be a long wait for Malaysia asus to order the parts to arrive in our land.

For Asus G73JH, I think it has no difference where you want to buy it as long as it has ready stock. For the time being. almost all Asus G73JH has to be back ordered.

In the Malaysia and Singapore region, I don't think that there is any ready stock Asus G73JH. Maybe be you can try to order from here of Singapore.

I think there is only one way of payment for international transaction, that is, bank wire. You just have to go to the CIMB bank and tell that you want to transfer your money to an US account and they will assist you. Just remember that the local bank will charge you some transaction fee. As for the US bank, you have to ask the reseller. All the best!

If you're in the states and are updated through the forums, you can practically get the A1s and A2s from some resellers who aren't so well known but could ship them out to you ASAP. And then you have the choice of the other stripped down versions mainly the X1 and X2 and the BB version.

As for us in good ol' "boleh" land . . we have no choice but to pre-order. I ordered mine on the 31/3/2010 and as of 10AM this morning, it has arrived in "boleh" land. I am not so sure who is it that is gonna post it to my house since I took the USPS International Mail Express option . . but am praying I can unbox tomorrow smile.gif

As for those who are thinking of waiting to get them from shops over here, I would say its better you don't. The word I get from resellers in Taiwan (Asus HQ) is that the G73JH line is only for export purposes to the western countries. They would not even stock it in Taiwan. Go figure rclxub.gif

And there ofcourse you could also take the direction of others who opt for other brands but you definitely won't be paying the same for the exact spec wink.gif

*oops edited the order date smile.gif

From where did you ordered yours? Xotic PC?
Which version? A1, A2 and etc?
How much in total you have to pay?

Anyway, all the best for your new laptop. Happy notebook-ing! thumbup.gif

Yeah. Pity that Alienware is lagging behind in adopting this new ATI 5870 Card(5870 CF in a month or 2 time). Other specs seem to be the same. This will definetly boost ASUS sales abroad combining good internals with an attractive housing. The way I see it, the only thing stopping people from acquiring this here is the wait, and maybe the warranty.

Asus has standard 2 Year Global Warranty. Another winning point wink.gif But . . we don't get the 1 Year Accidental Damage Warranty. This is dissapointing seeing how Asus is an Asian company . . but they just give those to the Amedikans sad.gif

Don't think will be doing any benchmarking using software like Furmak. My only benchmark would be my personal experience while gaming lolz. As for the cooling . . will try to get that for you . . but from various reviews online . . don't think it's gonna be impressive lolz. I only managed to burn the recovery disc yesterday . . which took around 2.5hours and 6 DVD disc. Today might start un-installing some bloatware. Next will be installing softwares that I need. And finally only installing games heh.

Hasn't tried full load . . but normal surfing last around 1.5 hours. This is with the batt set at high performance and also the keyboard backlit light on.

Jeffrey, ASUS comes with standard 2 Year Global Warranty. You could check out the price for an extension with resellers like Xotic PC which would give you an option when you're customizing your notebook on their website.

It will not void your warranty but as for the dust cleaning for the exhaust fan, I think it is quite difficult especially Asus G73JH as its cooling system is not easy to be accessed. sad.gif

Well, if it allows you to sleep peacefully at night knowing that your USD1600 laptop is protected for 3 years, and you have no problem paying the extra . . I don't see why not smile.gif

If you were to search around, there is a good guide on disassembling the G73JH. wink.gif

Update: I have not gamed on my A2 yet as I am just trying to clean bloatwares and install drivers and security software first. Maybe I'll start gaming this weekend . . and after that will have a review on my new Lappy . . MAYBE is the keyword wink.gif

Hi tek, sorry if I'm being rude. But would like to know have you had any problems with your new G73JH? Since I've actually ordered it from XoticPC (7-8 weeks waiting) and I've seen lots of complaints about defective GPU or screen. Am thinking if i should just cancel my order if it would have a high chance of getting a defective item. Do you have any problem of this? Appreciated much if you could let me know. smile.gif

No worries . . you don't come off rude at all. At least you don't address me as Eii . . a couple of post back tongue.gif

Anyway, I have not fully utilized the laptop yet so to speak. All I've done is just bloatware cleaning, installing drivers and security softwares. If time permits, will install a few games tomorrow and see how it goes. So far, touchwood, fingers crossed, any voodoo that will increase my luck, etc . . my A2 runs fine. The fans are quite . . like really quite . . even quieter than the HDD lol. I understand your fears, as I've compiled a 3 page personal guide from the NBR forums on what to do and what to install and so on and so forth lolz. And as I've said above . . I don't ever wish to utilize the warranty lolz. And as some has posted on Xotic Forums and also NBR, usually you will hear from people having problems . . while those that have no problems whatsoever is having fun with their new laptop heh smile.gif

I've also faced the same fears, but due to financial constraints and really drooling over the price/spec ratio of the G73JH . . I just couldn't resist lols smile.gif

Thanks would love you to post some updates if possible when you have chance to really work on this beast biggrin.gif I'm on the same situation as you, the price/spec ratio is so good that i know I'll regret if I din try to get one and settle for the 2nd best.. Yeah fingers cross won't have to use the warranty... (Praying to God) tongue.gif

Haha devkamal . . no worries . . it was just a tongue in cheek response wink.gif

Anyway a quick update. Managed to install 3 games over the weekends but didn't really had time to really play all of them. Installed COD:MW, MW2, and Borderlands.
All played around 1 hour. All played smoothly. . but the one with the most improvement from my desktop is the borderlands graphics/display . . that may be due to my glossy LCD hehe. I just felt it looked so much better than my Samsung 2233sw. I did not install fraps and all because I really don't care about specific numbers. As long as the graphics is nice and everything is smooth . . I am satisfied. Oh, I am quite sure all my settings on the games are High and 4xAA.

It is my 1st time using a 17" laptop, so I am still getting used to it. Still feel pretty big for me but I like the feel of the rubberized exterior. Gives my hands extra grip which allows me to carry the laptop with one hand. I am loving the glossy LCD screen . . everything looks great on it . . but badly coded anime looks worse on it than my Samsung 2233sw. The speakers are good, maybe a notch below the Harmon Kardons on the Toshibas . . but still better than most. The mousepad is great, but the buttons are a little stiff. The chiclet keyboards are ok . . but I would need getting use to it. For now, I still find myself not managing to type as fast as on the normal keyboards as it will miss some letters. It is not keyboard lag . . just that chiclet keyboards need more precise pressure heh.

The ROG mouse which came with the A2 & A1 is also something I need to get used to. . . since I never had a gaming mouse before. Still abit jakun playing with the 2 thumb buttons heh. The Targus backpack which comes with the A1 & A2 is great for me. I've already tried loading it with my laptop, power brick, mouse, Wii, Wii Power Brick (which is huge as well), wii remote, wii zapper, 2 wii games, wii other accessories and it all fits albeit making it quite heavy lolz. But it is still comfortable to carry because of the padding available on the back part and also on the shoulder strap. On my trip back to hometown, I loaded it with my external Seagate Freeagent 500G HDD, mouse, power brick, Ex-HDD power adapter, ipod, earphones, electric tootbrush and adapter tongue.gif . . and all fit well as well smile.gif

Unfortunately, the one thing I want to monitor . . I am unable to. I have used GPU-Z, HWInfo32, and AMD GPU Clock Tool . . but nothing can sense my GPU Temperature. I am a little worried . . but it may be because I haven't update the ATI driver. I am still using the stock driver that came with the laptop. Not updating it anytime since people are experiencing problems with the new release. (If any of you don't think its because of my driver . . do give me suggestions on how I can monitor my GPU temp) . Even though I am unable to see precise numbers, this is by far the coolest laptop I've used. Many of my previous laptops have been really hot even during just surfing the web . . but when I was gaming . . I can't feel the heat at all. I did also check the back of the air vents . .it was warm . . but not as hot as anything I've experienced before hand. I will try to game more this week . . and check the heat out and report back.

If there are anything I missed out . . or you would like to know . . do state it here and I will try to reply. However, as I've stated before . . not gonna do any benchmark test and stressing out the GPU for nothing. Sorry to dissappoint . . guess you guys will just need to wait for someone else to get the G73JH in LYN heh. And again . . for a thorough review of the G73JH including benchmark and fraps for lots of games . . CLICK HERE!!!

I bought my Asus G73-A2 off ebay because I wanted to use paypal.

It took around 2 weeks to arrive in total, pretty fast considering it was sent via USPS.

Make sure you get your tracking, it's extremely useful when ordering such an item of high value. It allowed me to know exactly when it arrived in Malaysia and whether or not it cleared customs. It should clear customs since notebooks are free from custom duties.

Unless it's shipped via FedEx or some other specialised courier company, don't expect poslaju to deliver it to your home. If you want you can easily collect it without waiting for their notification letter. Just call them up and give them your tracking no. and they'll tell you which post office it is at. Bring your IC or passport + the tracking no. and you can go ahead and take it home.

All in all, this laptop is way cheaper than it would be in Malaysia. Got it for around 5.5k including shipping whereas I'm pretty sure when it retails locally it will be over 7k minimum. Specs are almost as good as the Alienware m17x for nearly half the price.

If you haven't seen a 17.3 inch laptop before, like me, you will be in for a HUGE suprise.

I would post some performance tests, but it seems that people have already posted plenty of that.

Good luck fellow Asus G73 owners and future owners.

QUOTE(igothack @ May 4 2010, 11:12 PM)

Good luck fellow Asus G73 owners and future owners.

better use fedex or other shipping companies. direct to your home.

you can increase the limit by verifying with credit cards. im selling vcc. you can verify it. but i'd suggest you to verify with real credit card and pay it

If you're getting it delivered with USPS International, it is a definite that your package will be stopped by Custom for inspection. Since you're in Kedah, you can appoint Pos Malaysia to be your agent in clearing the package and sending it to your place. I am not sure how it works if you choose UPS from Xotic but be prepared to pay USD200+ for the UPS shipping.

Fedex/DHL should be acting as your customs clearance agent . . but you should contact your shipping company of choice and confirm with them.
As for the temp . . that is actually cooler then what i got last night which is around 60+ celcius idle. If you think those are hot . . then its best you avoid purchasing this laptop. However, either the temp sensors are deceiving or the cooling system is good. Most over here are saying that those temps are high, however . . I can't sense heat anywhere when I am using my laptop unless I put my hands behind the 2 huge vents . . even so . . the air being pushed out are warm . . can't call them hot at all.

The power cords that comes with the G73JH are generally for the US. You can use an adapter, or buy another power cord with local connector :

Ok the new prices seems good. However there are only 2 stock left . . so if you really want it . . you better ask your bro to grab it now. As for it being a good deal or not . .that's up to you to decide. For me, I got it based on the Spec/Price ratio.

And how many times do one need an answer to a question that have already been acknowledged by oneself? Go back a page. doh.gif

Yes it got stopped by customs. And yes there are no import duties or tax for laptops in Malaysia.

As for clearing customs, you can either appoint Pos Malaysia as your agent and pay them a fee or go collect it by yourself. It's a simple task which if needed, you will have to pay RM18 for the custom clearance fee and you're set to go wink.gif

Sent April 20th ---> Into Customs 26th April.
Collected myself 27th April smile.gif

Pos Malaysia will call you to inform you that your item is held by Customs and whether you will like to collect yourself or appoint them as an agent for a fee.

i guess. he just paid the site, total. and then everything from packaging, courier etc the site company handle it. if got cought by custom, then you'll need to pay small fees or ask the pos guy to be an agent for you for a fee.

but, read somewhere, to guarantee to your door-step, you could always opted for dhl/fedex service. but bit pricey. at least, i've been using DHL, imported thousand of dollars item without getting held by customs.

and it's much cost saving if you're far away from custom center like me..need to go to JB and so much hassle etc..

Yeah sure! smile.gif but I actually asked for a specific ship date since I'm only coming back in June. So probably can only give you an update in early or mid June. tongue.gif

and yeah XoticPC is taking too long where as powernotebooks has all the models in stock. Probably will get yours in less than 2 weeks time! drool.gif + the sales advisor Donald was very helpful and I always get fast response. So would recommend him if you are ordering from them thumbup.gif

You have ordered yourself an A1 or A2? How much did it costs for the machine + shipping fee. I'm thinking of ordering from GenTechPC but still have a long queue on it. Thus, powernotebooks is my next target. Oh yea, how did you pay them? Via PayPal or bank wire. Personally, I want to use PayPal. biggrin.gif

Personally, I want to use PayPal.  biggrin.gif
*
I've ordered an A1. I've customised my laptop a bit, upgrade one of my hard drive to 160GB SSD and wireless card. If its a standard A1 is USD1645. Shipping fee is USD175. They have the 3% cash discount as well.

Powernotebooks currently has all the model in stock. So you can check them out. smile.gif Unfortunately they only accept wire transfer for international order.

Depends on when you mail them. There is a time difference (around 12 hours) . Chill dude wink.gif

From what hatshepsut has said, the US resellers aren't like the one from our neighbouring country . . so I am sure they will reply you in due time wink.gif

Yeah I've been following the threads in notebookreview since I decided to buy this laptop. So I knew that one of the sales advisor Donald has quite a good reputation there. So I email to him before I put the order, you know, just to be sure of everything. And he replied pretty quick, normally would give me response in 1-2 days. I consider that to be quick. smile.gif I can just give you his email: Donald@PowerNotebooks.com. I'm sure he'll be happy to asnwer all your questions. biggrin.gif

Good Luck!

I did not ask about the A1 as I'm not planning on getting A1. As for the forum, I refer to NotebookReview.com. biggrin.gif

For the time being, I have two options, that is,
(i) GenTechPC as I'm quite familiar with KenLee
(ii) Provantage as I personally believe that they offer better price for A2.

Actually, XoticPC offers better customer service IMHO. Thus, I would rather choose them if you compared them with Mucro Asia. biggrin.gif However, bear in mind that XoticPC has a very long queue list for Asus G73.

Yea, they do ship internationally including Malaysia. They have assigned 2 shipping companies for their international transactions, that is,

(i) USPS = 149 USD
(ii) UPS worldwide = 219 USD (I'm not sure though)

According to KenLee, he recommends me to just use USPS as they will not charge any extra shipping fee unlike UPS which usually will charge you extra for shipping the product to your doorstep.

Yeah sure!  smile.gif  but I actually asked for a specific ship date since I'm only coming back in June.

Aaah nice, so tempting now since theres a reseller who has stock in place!

BTW,
you guys can refer to this site for their reviews!

XoticPC
GenTech
Provantage
Powernotebooks

Don't ask me that sort of question ler . . . scary you know lolz. So far everything has been alright smile.gif Has been having a great time on LAN with bro with Borderlands . . fun fun fun smile.gif Haven't installed other games yet as won't have time to play them lolz. Have only installed COD:MW and MW2 but has only opened them and played 1 mission before adjourning to Borderlands smile.gif

I am seeing alot of 1 line questions in this thread. Seriously, if you're gonna make an expensive purchase (at least for me) . . then do take some initiative and go do a research for yourself instead of sitting on your comfy chair and waiting/demanding people to spoonfeed you with information. If I can go through 1700+ forum pages and read countless reviews looking for info . . I don't see why you can't. Yes it may take some time, but at least you will be educated and not rely on people when *touchwood* something goes wrong. * end of Personal rant *

Sorry if I've made you feel uncomfortable.. I personally have been researching all the forums since decided to buy this laptop... I'm like a "Forum Addict" LOL since everyday I came home first thing was turn on my lappy and logged on to all the forums. Will only logged off before going to bed. that's why I know that things might can be go wrong... not to try to curse your laptop tek (sorry if I made you feel that way).

But seriously, after I've been looking at all those issues that might occur in this laptop but still decided to go ahead. I've already prepared to RMA it at least once.. u know just to let myself be prepared to the worst case scenario... This is just my own way of thinking lar... tongue.gif sounds pretty stupid but I just like this laptop so much that I am willing to take all those risk! Hahaha! biggrin.gif

Added on May 12, 2010, 2:48 pmUpdates on cooling: I've noticed that the keyboard area gets warm after a substantial period. This made me wonder about the argument of where does the airflow for cooling for the G73JH goes through. The rest of the laptop remains cool even after a few hours of gaming and only under the GPU area will it get hot.

Hi,

I'm really interested in getting this notebook.
However, it seems like the only payment method accepted by US shops is bankwire.
I actually am thinking of using paypal, i guess only singapore shops accept paypal right?

Thanks.

Don't think need specific pictures lol. It's just the are under where the GPU is situated which would be on the upper most bottom right side of the laptop if you're facing the screen. However, I only gauge this when I am using it on my lap placing the notebook on my pillow or my blanket which isn't so good for cooling. Didn't check it while on the table top. Might just do it this weekend if I have the time.

Not sure about the Sillypore option . . but I do believe they prefer bank wire as well. But if you need assurance of customer service then I'll say go with the US Resellers. The sillypore one *I ain't Mentioning nAmes* has barely no customer service if you aren't a paying customer. So you will get no assurance or replies whatsoever if you want to find out about a prospective purchase wink.gif

Why can't people order them personally? What more , US Resellers are asking for wire transfer and not credit card. I am sure, those who wants to purchase these have some money in some bank which they can wire rite? LOL . . Malaysians and their spoonfeeding . . soo boleh smile.gif

Sorry to hear that.. I actually only contacted him when I noticed they have A1 in stock. So I didn't know they won't ship it internationally if they don't have stock, probably still very high in demand in US. You can try Gentech PC or XoticPC.. I think they have pretty good reputation too.

Almost all the G73JH currently are shipped with 1333 RAM due to shortages of the 1066 RAM and if you were to do your research, you will find that there aren't any significant differences between the two. wink.gif
My advice to you if you're gonna get the G73JH is to check the version properly as there are quite a few versions out there and make sure the specs such as screen resolution, hdd, blu-ray/dvd, targus backpack, rog mouse, and so on and so forth smile.gif
There are many opportunist around trying to sell these without pointing out the difference between each versions . . so BEWARE. Do your research wink.gif

Yeap there are various versions for the G73JH. There are the main ones which are the A1 & A2 and then you have stripped down versions like the BB ones. There are also other versions which I am too lazy to search for now lolz.
But to be safe, just go for either the A1 or A2 version which comes wit the Targus Backpack and Asus ROG mouse. Get them from any reputable US Reseller and with the favorable exchange rate atm, you can get an A2 for RM5.5k or less including shipping wink.gif

Before I had my G73JH-A2, I didn't realise how much difference the screen resolution would make. Now I know why many would rather wait for the A1/A2 then get a BB version in the states smile.gif

No need to be sorry. I am just pointing out that there have been direct comparisons made by owners of the G73JH who has the 1333 and 1066 RAM and the results are pretty interesting . . especially for someone like you who are into RAMs smile.gif

Found a link of comparison between A1, A2, X1, X2, X3 @ NBR. The differences are just between blu-ray/dvd, 2hdd/1hdd and whether backpack and mouse are included or not.

Then you have the BB versions of RBBX05 and RBBX09, which has 1600X900 screen resolution (either LG or AUO screen). We also have a TZ008X version in Aus which is same as A1 but with Win 7 Pro and an addition of a gaming headset. Hehe..

Nice one hatshepsut rclxms.gif . saw it before but too lazy to search back over 400+ pages hehe. Anyway the Aussie version . . the price is sweat.gif

Too bad there aren't price summary as well. To me, the BB ones are just not worth it.

Depends Doc. I have a friend who wants the whole package with the R.O.G accessories. I think its more about being associated with the whole franchise and the company. He thinks its worth it getting the backpack and the R.O.G Mouse. I think its because he see's me with the full Alienware lIneup so he wants the same but from a diff company. icon_rolleyes.gif

Same here but because of the popularity of these things right now, getting the A1 or A2 is much more worth it. Some resellers like Newegg and Amazon has the X models which does not come with the bag and mouse but are priced the same or even more expensive than the A models because they have them in stock previously. (not forgetting the X models has less HDD ).

That being said, I am loving the bag and mouse smile.gif The bag is spacious and comfortable . . even though I would have preferred an extra compartment and better inside padding heh. The mouse is also nice and it complement the laptop pretty well especially in the dark lolz.

My only "complains" so far are the chiclet keyboards. Those really suck tongue.gif I find myself mis-typing very often on the G73JH . . . and might just hook up an extrenal keyboard heh.

Just curious.. Is the customer service in Malaysia better than US? How long does it take to get your laptop back? Did they give you a replacement or just fix the screen? Am very interested in knowing how's ASUS customer service in Malaysia since read so many bad experiences of RMA in US. Hopefully we can get better CS. smile.gif

i did the rma here in malaysia becos my "free" shipping takes a lot of coordination so it was not worth sending back to usa. it took exactly 1 month for the repair becos they have no spares here for a model that's not avail in malaysia. they replaced my screen.

Seems like this is a common issue. Some G73 owners said they'll mistype a lot when they are fast typing and G73 have a bad space bar response too. Is that true? Wonder how fast do you have to type to get errors. tongue.gif Cos I consider myself not a fast typing person, normally typing speed around 50-55wpm. Hopefully won't have that issues. Haha..

I was at Midvalley yesterday and there were countless Tech booths and camera and notebooks booths due to the DCIM Fair this weekend. I saw a BIG ASUS Booth at centrecourt but only 1 ASUS R.O.G Notebook. The G51XXX ....I was like SIGH.... Why? Why only this? As long as the international warranty works, G73 Owners can rest in peace. But maybe you guys who already own this can update us here on the ease or difficulties of getting service.....

The 5870 has great overclocking abilities. You can hit hit 10k vantage scores on that. But will need lotsa tweaking if you're on a 720QM CPU. I've seen somehit hit almost 11k (10,9xx) on 3dmarks Vantage with a 920XM + 5870 oc'ed combo. But beware!!! TEMPERATURE!!! i'm gonna on my air-con and cooler before I bench..... sweat.gif

If 50-55wpm should be ok kua lolz. Mine is 80-85wpm.

QUOTE(julchin_09 @ May 16 2010, 01:03 PM)

You know it when you get a GAMING RIG its hardly gonna be used for something else, unless of course you bought it knowing it will be your work and play station... smile.gif

I didn't know A1 and A2 cheaper than the X ones.... All because of stock. Maybe its just a matter of time, and we'll see more and more here....  thumbup.gif
*
Yea . . but keyboards are an essential item for a PC or a Notebook regardless if its a work station or a gaming rig. If going by what you say, then gaming rigs shouldn't come with keyboards but gamepads and joysticks instead lol. ( I know many wouldn't mind this lolz)

Just for the sake of argument / debating if you want to put it nicely tongue.gif . . even if you hardly use it, when you use it . . you still want it to be good right? smile.gif

It's like you hardly adjust you radio volume . . but by the time you want to adjust it . . it doesn't do its job well, eg: being too loud or too soft with no in between wink.gif

Does yours function to its extreme that you mistype easily? Cos from the analogy you hinted, its seems that yours is definetly not in between like how I'd like to think....

If I were to type fast, around 80-85wpm, it does screwed up a sentence pretty badly. And the spacebar is squeaky as well lol. . . but I'll live with it wink.gif . . or get an external keyboard soon for stuff other than gaming smile.gif

Sidenote: Am gonna install Dirt 2 and Grid on the G73JH soon smile.gif

I would think long fingers are an advantage cos i have short fingers lol. And the chiclet keyboard really depends on how you type. I have problems when I type with my palms resting on the laptop. If one were to type like how they type on the old typewriters..then I guess they won't have any problems heh.

Ziddy from NBR swears by the chiclet keyboard on his G73JH and puts the blame squarely on sissy typers like me lolz.

That depends really. Some are saying the high 50s - low 60s (celcius) of idle temps on the G73JH are not good. For me, its the best I've had so far because my laptop does not "burn" my hands while I am using it . . unlike my previous experience with Acer and HP. What more, this is a gaming laptop and not the previous 2 lol. So I am very satisfied with the cooling system of my G73JH smile.gif

We have to compare with other 17" carrying the ati 5870 first. In fact there are models carrying 2x 5870 at the moment. I've heard about high temps on the G73 so lets see whether the others complain about temps or not....
