VerY Stealthy looking. The DDR5 Card is the major pulling factor besides the looks....

QUOTE(tek @ Apr 26 2010, 02:46 PM) If you're in the states and are updated through the forums, you can practically get the A1s and A2s from some resellers who aren't so well known but could ship them out to you ASAP. And then you have the choice of the other stripped down versions mainly the X1 and X2 and the BB version. Did you mean March? As for us in good ol' "boleh" land . . we have no choice but to pre-order. I ordered mine on the 31/4/2010 and as of 10AM this morning, it has arrived in "boleh" land. I am not so sure who is it that is gonna post it to my house since I took the USPS International Mail Express option . . but am praying I can unbox tomorrow As for those who are thinking of waiting to get them from shops over here, I would say its better you don't. The word I get from resellers in Taiwan (Asus HQ) is that the G73JH line is only for export purposes to the western countries. They would not even stock it in Taiwan. Go figure And there ofcourse you could also take the direction of others who opt for other brands but you definitely won't be paying the same for the exact spec |

QUOTE(Michaelbyz23 @ Apr 28 2010, 12:07 AM) Yeah. Pity that Alienware is lagging behind in adopting this new ATI 5870 Card(5870 CF in a month or 2 time). Other specs seem to be the same. This will definetly boost ASUS sales abroad combining good internals with an attractive housing. The way I see it, the only thing stopping people from acquiring this here is the wait, and maybe the warranty. |

QUOTE(igothack @ May 4 2010, 11:12 PM) I bought my Asus G73-A2 off ebay because I wanted to use paypal. You mean stock Alienware M17x R2 with 5870 and i720QM? That would retail at about 7999 i think..It took around 2 weeks to arrive in total, pretty fast considering it was sent via USPS. Make sure you get your tracking, it's extremely useful when ordering such an item of high value. It allowed me to know exactly when it arrived in Malaysia and whether or not it cleared customs. It should clear customs since notebooks are free from custom duties. Unless it's shipped via FedEx or some other specialised courier company, don't expect poslaju to deliver it to your home. If you want you can easily collect it without waiting for their notification letter. Just call them up and give them your tracking no. and they'll tell you which post office it is at. Bring your IC or passport + the tracking no. and you can go ahead and take it home. All in all, this laptop is way cheaper than it would be in Malaysia. Got it for around 5.5k including shipping whereas I'm pretty sure when it retails locally it will be over 7k minimum. Specs are almost as good as the Alienware m17x for nearly half the price. If you haven't seen a 17.3 inch laptop before, like me, you will be in for a HUGE suprise. I would post some performance tests, but it seems that people have already posted plenty of that. Good luck fellow Asus G73 owners and future owners. This post has been edited by julchin_09: May 5 2010, 12:18 AM |

So I'm guessing they're the barebone stock with no customization and basic specs?

QUOTE(Mr.Docter @ May 16 2010, 12:30 PM) personally i don't mind about bag and mouse. i mean i want them, but its not a factor for me to decline from buying this pricewise gaming lappy. Depends Doc. I have a friend who wants the whole package with the R.O.G accessories. I think its more about being associated with the whole franchise and the company. He thinks its worth it getting the backpack and the R.O.G Mouse. I think its because he see's me with the full Alienware lIneup so he wants the same but from a diff company. sometimes people care more about something small rather, and forgot the bigger picture. |

QUOTE(Mr.Docter @ May 16 2010, 12:47 PM) yep, thats why i said personally. but those bag and mouse are nice actually. more like collective items for me ! Sorry OT.... QUOTE(tek @ May 16 2010, 12:56 PM) Same here but because of the popularity of these things right now, getting the A1 or A2 is much more worth it. Some resellers like Newegg and Amazon has the X models which does not come with the bag and mouse but are priced the same or even more expensive than the A models because they have them in stock previously. (not forgetting the X models has less HDD ). You know it when you get a GAMING RIG its hardly gonna be used for something else, unless of course you bought it knowing it will be your work and play station... That being said, I am loving the bag and mouse My only "complains" so far are the chiclet keyboards. Those really suck I didn't know A1 and A2 cheaper than the X ones.... All because of stock. Maybe its just a matter of time, and we'll see more and more here.... |

I was at Midvalley yesterday and there were countless Tech booths and camera and notebooks booths due to the DCIM Fair this weekend. I saw a BIG ASUS Booth at centrecourt but only 1 ASUS R.O.G Notebook. The G51XXX ....I was like SIGH.... Why? Why only this? As long as the international warranty works, G73 Owners can rest in peace. But maybe you guys who already own this can update us here on the ease or difficulties of getting service.....

QUOTE(kenling @ May 16 2010, 01:10 PM) any owners here tried overclocking yet? The 5870 has great overclocking abilities. You can hit hit 10k vantage scores on that. But will need lotsa tweaking if you're on a 720QM CPU. I've seen somehit hit almost 11k (10,9xx) on 3dmarks Vantage with a 920XM + 5870 oc'ed combo. But beware!!! TEMPERATURE!!! i'm gonna on my air-con and cooler before I bench..... julchin: for me, the asus people were very nice and service was quite good. I don't blame them for the long rma time becos the model is not avail here. |

QUOTE(tek @ May 16 2010, 01:55 PM) If 50-55wpm should be ok kua lolz. Mine is 80-85wpm. I meant with regards to typing actually. Thats why I used the word 'Hardly' and not 'Never'... Yea . . but keyboards are an essential item for a PC or a Notebook regardless if its a work station or a gaming rig. If going by what you say, then gaming rigs shouldn't come with keyboards but gamepads and joysticks instead lol. ( I know many wouldn't mind this lolz) |

QUOTE(tek @ May 16 2010, 03:39 PM) Just for the sake of argument / debating if you want to put it nicely Does yours function to its extreme that you mistype easily? Cos from the analogy you hinted, its seems that yours is definetly not in between like how I'd like to think....It's like you hardly adjust you radio volume . . but by the time you want to adjust it . . it doesn't do its job well, eg: being too loud or too soft with no in between |

QUOTE(tek @ May 16 2010, 06:07 PM) If I were to type fast, around 80-85wpm, it does screwed up a sentence pretty badly. And the spacebar is squeaky as well lol. . . but I'll live with it Ok. Cos your experience is gonna influence a lot of would be buyers. I have a friend here who wants to get one. He's got long fingers, do you think its sutiable?Sidenote: Am gonna install Dirt 2 and Grid on the G73JH soon |
