So in other words, don't touch the freakin' router........

Cool. Thanks.

I never liked D-Link routers after changing 2.....(B and G routers)... so sticking with Linksys.......

Hopefully TM NET fixes it soon.......

They should let us use our normal routers. I don't want to give up my Linksys WRT54GL(DDwrt)..

Same here, i can't use my own router too. The D-link has got some custom firmware with settings hard coded innit..

Have you tried cloning their router's MAC address?

i'm curious..HSBB function is the same as Maxis/Celcom bb?
i mean..just plug the device(or modem) without any cable, and we get the connection.
am i correct?

You are not correct. Maxis and Celcom are wireless, which means slow and unreliable. But it also means they can be used almost anywhere in a broad coverage area without requiring specific infrastructure for each customer.

HSBB is using fibre optic cables, which is basically the same idea as the copper cable used for Streamyx ADSL except they are made of a different material which can carry a higher capacity.

You need to have the cable connected to a router on your premises. Then from the router you can use wifi locallly if you want to.

shared line means that one line in this case fiber cable is shared to multiple users and they get different IPs like how TM is now, while shared IP is like our standard home network where we have a router and multiple computers...and one IP.
in short - shared line - multiple computers - multiple IP
shared IP - multiple computers - one IP..

TM don't share IP method, unable go more advance

but... HSBB require powerful LAN adapter to enable high speed, because i test speed my Local speed got 14mbps download 30mbps upload zzzzz

Usually Uni's have their own line.

Reason: some people in the forum have very high speed from their unis and place them as speedtest signatures.

actually this hsbb triple play, in future, if you stop using your copper phone line and depend on this dect/ip phone

what happens if TNB got problems, electricity got cut off and need to make emergency call?

we expect/assume that people will have or have access to a mobile phone?

got no laws covering this? ie tm need to make sure that at least the phone can be used for x hours even if blackout?

edit:-
or maybe tm should say waive their line rental or give discounts for those who subscribe to this triple play but still want/need to maintain their copper line for emergencies etc??

is it mean after we subscribe to HSBB,
our phone set will connect to the HSBB modem but not the phone port on the wall?

as what u say,
if the internet down,
can we still use the phone?
or it is totally VoIP phone service via internet?

sorry for my stupid question,
but i don really know it..

so is it mean the phone will directly connect to the modem,
and have to always on the modem or any other device(power on),
to receive any incoming calls?

Can someone with HSBB just turn off the device and test? That should tell us if it works even if there is power failure right?

i think the reason they provide the dlink is so that they can plug it directly to the IPTV device in the future ..
besides maybe they can config the router to give more priority to the IPTV .... i think la ..
