Nope. I'm on 4mbps using vpn. I would only get around 30KB/s without VPN.
Unstable it may be, the video plays without stopping.. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1172732/+2260 Post #2271 Maybe that's why streamyx connection are a bit shit now so that their HSBB thing runs smoothly. |

I see no reason why they would want to throttle HSBB right now under trial since those data would be useful to them to check on the load etc. They might throttle them after trial, but let's complain when that actually happens.

It would be nice if for once we get full speed downloading through the browser. Right now on streamyx we can only get full speed if we use download managers. Lovely results so far(aside from the speedtest to outside). Page instant load=win. Wonder if they can sustain it though. More users with bigger bandwidth+TMnetwork=Potential Fail.

If for beta, I think they throw coins to determine whether someone get it or not. When will they offer it? Sometime around April-May?

Dunno why TM want to be so secretive. It generates interest for HSBB which would be good for them, and apart from the pings to outside world, the actual speed is very good. Just let us drool over those videos/pictures/info. Oi TM staff.. go work on improving the connections than waste time reading forums and whatnot.

I price is lower than 200, that would be good news. I expect it to be around 200 tho.

It would only be true if pigs can fly. That 190 sounds more real. Pretty good price if true. People will scream expensive though.

QUOTE(Demonic Wrath @ Feb 28 2010, 02:57 PM) Come on, with AirAsia, pigs can fly. 5mbps for rm50? You truly believe that? The package is very very possible. Just don't expect to get the same bandwidth for international lines. Don't forget, even the complaints only apply if you don't get 90% bandwidth when testing on TMNet servers, which is local. For local connections, the bandwidth is cheap if they routed everything to fiber optics. It's different case on international lines. So, don't be overexcited about the bandwidth they provide for the price. The complaints and the bandwidth they provide will be guaranteed applied for local connections, not on international connections. Don't worry on this though, I'm pretty sure Malaysians are pretty heavy torrenter so With this change to fiber optic, they will be able to provide a much larger and more stable service radius compared to using copper line. Remember, Malaysia's policy on broadband is about penetration now, not on high speed. So, moving to fiber optic allows them to achieve the target. For now, it's testing phase, that's why the testers can get such a bandwidth for international line. They have dedicated lines for HSBB for international line for now. Most likely it'll be merged into Streamyx international line, then it'll all go to slow connection if everyone was to download (then it'll be 20% users using 80% bandwidth again). Then I'm pretty sure there will be up-rage here asking why the heck 20mbps connection only translate to 2mbps connection when downloading from oversea servers. HSBB is TM product, so is Streamyx. I think maybe they'll convert all users to HSBB after everything is deployed. It'll be a waste of time and energy if they split up between these 2 services. IPTV, on the other hand, is optional. You may subscribe for channels you want to watch, and with the bandwidth, there will be HD video-on-demand and also more HD channels. Of course, I think IPTV will include those RTM channels, NTV7 channels for free, but for sport channels, it'll most probably require subscription. Same with movie channels. Note that ASTRO and HSBB is not under the same company, so expect some competition here. Well, they've blocked torrenting since ages ago. They would do the same too for HSBB I would imagine. As for international bandwidth.. from the screenshots it looks promissing. They can get full speed or close enough for the 20mbps package. Would be different though once it goes live and more people use it.. but it would still be fast enough. |

Unless everyone subscribes to VPN or something, they won't be able to torrent much although latest utorrent allows that currently. But won't be long before they would block that.

QUOTE(Ash @ Mar 7 2010, 05:17 PM) i dont know if its a good thing, while you get better ping from local server on hsbb, you actually get MUCH higher ping from overseas compared to streamyx. It's still in beta stages. Cacat here, there and everywhere is to be expected. Once they actually offer the package to end user, that's when we can start complaining about stuff. It'll get better no doubt. Just wonder if it'll be streamyx case again over time when users grow, the jalan still the same size. |

I still remember the feeling when Streamyx was first introduced. Had me drooling over it but let down by the price initially.

QUOTE(Gh-x @ Mar 19 2010, 11:09 PM) Well that was just an Example, even right now the price is unknown. For me i target the 10Mb to be around the Streamyx 4Mb package price. That would be an very good price. I'm expecting current 4mb price-200+. If lower than that, awesome! Streamyx will be way cheaper too if that happens.Well i hope the HSBB come with a good bandwidth cap for an a little higher than average user. QUOTE(rasyid @ Mar 20 2010, 02:58 AM) i dont think it will cost more than RM150 .. cause the purpose of this is to increase the broadband penetration ... Streamyx is still available. A cheaper streamyx will boost the broadband penetration too.who would use if its cost more than what they already paying ... gov is not thinking of profit .. they just want to achieve the target .. govemen also have reputation to keep ... they will get bad name la if the broadband penetration sucks .. So we definitely have to use the router given by them? That would be shit. |

QUOTE(ycs @ Mar 20 2010, 11:47 AM) What's your point? Even if it is delayed for another few months to reach my place, or even a year in fact, I won't mind at all knowing when it is available, I would be able to enjoy speeds up to 10mbps-20mbps(depending on the price of course). As for the meantime, normal browsing and whatnot using 1mbps-4mbps is more than sufficient for my and a lot of us, needs. |
