Just got my HSBB installed in my home in Bangsar.
Like some of you here, can't use my Linksys WRT120N router also.......
Settings are same as the D-Link one...... but still can't connect to the internet.

Hopefully it's fixed once the service is going national.

Anybody have any success with a different Router?
*
Same here, i can't use my own router too. The D-link has got some custom firmware with settings hard coded innit.. Speed wise.. pretty good for now, but kinda inconsistent.

Same here as well. I touched the router a bit and the whole thing just disconnected. I have no idea what went wrong, despite me entering all the correct information. So after calling the technician back to fix it, I decided not to touch the damn thing at all.

I still encounter problems where the router just hangs and I get page errors for a few minutes or my whole wifi connection jsut drops. Not sure what caused it.

And yeah, my speed is inconsistent as well, although in general, it's good.

In the short term, the only people who are going to sign up for HSBB will be the heavy downloaders. The cost cannot be justified for casual or regular users. Why pay more than RM160 when that can buy you 4MB (which is already a lot for regular users)?

I think whatever allocation they provide for the home fibre subscriptions will be way above the retention ratio in the next 3-4 years when HSBB becomes more mainstream, so expect variable performance.

I would sign up on the 24th if I knew the performance would be good (regardless of price), but something tells me it's not going to be that reliable...

They will still need better international links to support the new volume.

Normally the other countries get away with it due to fair usage policies, or bandwidth cap whatever you call it.
*
Maybe TM also will follow the other countries practices to keep cost for international bandwidth down.

Unless the price is known, you cannot yet determine what the up-take would be. Since HSBB provides other services other than internet surfing, it is possible then current casual users may find those added services useful to them and hence signup.

i'm curious..HSBB function is the same as Maxis/Celcom bb?
i mean..just plug the device(or modem) without any cable, and we get the connection.
am i correct?

but HSBB use FiberTerminationBox and FiberWallSocket.
that means my uni(uia pj) is not covered with HSBB yet? bcos i can confirm that those 2 things are not installed in this campus.
eventhough TM Tower is just 3-5 km from here..

in such as uni or factory industries, they may prefer ETTH
if i'm not mistake

I think the problem that is experienced by HSBB trial users currently about hangs of connections, is caused by the router itself. I had experienced this last year, after changed to Belkin all things works flawlessly. biggrin.gif

Im not sure about incosistency of speeds, maybe its the proof that they have bad or congested lines. They should use different lines, not the same as Streamyx and I wonder why are they planting fiber optics whilst they dont use it?
