no matter what price, if roll out is slow/delayed then what for?
*
What's your point? Even if it is delayed for another few months to reach my place, or even a year in fact, I won't mind at all knowing when it is available, I would be able to enjoy speeds up to 10mbps-20mbps(depending on the price of course). As for the meantime, normal browsing and whatnot using 1mbps-4mbps is more than sufficient for my and a lot of us, needs.

Your laptop will only use 1 connection for internet connection, even though you connect both. It won't magically combine both bandwidth.

QUOTE(ruffstuff @ Mar 20 2010, 11:16 AM)
This local internet vs international link got me wondering.  Can US citizen consider their internet 'local internet' if their browsing speed is fast when access youtube which was based on US itself.  When they browse sites outside US, the speed is pretty much limited due to 'international link'.  So, who to be blame here?

TM has done their best to supply infrastructure for Malaysian.  To have fibre optics in all residential area is always a welcome. International speed is different issue together. The focus here is to replace all copper based wire to fibre optics.

Please don't tell me it is ok to have DSL with good internatianal speed, and let us forget about laying out fibres locally.
*
From the US, most of the international browsing people do is to Europe. The transatlantic cable capacity is huge and speeds are normally just about the same as local speeds.

When I am in the USA and try to contact Malaysian IP addresses (e.g. LYN) it's usually pretty awful. But only a tiny number of people there are trying to contact Malaysia.

The situation is fundamentally different due to the asymmetry in market size and content placement. I don't think you can usefully compare. It is much more important for Malaysia to upgrade its international links than for the USA to.

Despite the disconcerting recent speed tests conducted by one of our trial testers, I will still give it a shot. The opportunity presents itself too well to give up.

They won't lose if they charge cheaply. The speed is LOCAL network speed. They WILL, and they CAN guarantee that speed for local connections. For local bandwidth, it's almost free for them. If MORE user subscribe, then they'll be able to cover their wiring cost very fast.

Now, the more user subscribes, the only one that will suffer will be user themselves. Why? Because international link is limited.

If they charge a PREMIUM price, TM will suffer. No one will subscribe new package and they won't be able to cover the fiber wiring cost.
*
That depends on the how much is PREMIUM. laugh.gif

Why do I say that? Well, I'm pretty sure that the above Modus Operandi is exactly what TM will use. But there are a few other things to consider, but I'll name only 1. TM have a monopoly on land lines. They can and will raise the prices, especially at introduction, as much as they can without the price being too high that too many people are put off. Why? Because they can.

I also have a DIR-615 it is working fine...

Please check if:
1. If your Wireless SSID is hidden.

2. If your wireless channel is located on channel 13. If so adjust it back to 11 and below and try again.
If that solve your issue.

I think that you are using the 802.11b/g device (11~54Mbps)

for that you really need to disable the 20/40Mhz wide channel implementation.
Backword compatilibity on 802.11n -> 802.11a/b/g

Er??
You sure?

That have no happen to me though.
