Another fellow beta tester, eimzic's utorrent screenshot & 2 youtube videos (speedtest, download speed, speed & time it takes to buffer a 720p youtube video & ping in command prompt)

before HSBB,
ping to DNS streamyx was like 12ms -14ms with frequent timed out..
and google takes >200ms

now, no timed out..
and ping is fast as pinging to own home router.  tongue.gif

..different story when comes to ping outside Malaysia.  sweat.gif

xcen's utorrent screenshot & speedtest

Here is the singapore speed, notice the ping.

International ping is still too high. Browsing experience is almost the same with streamyx with this kind of ping.

> Official TM High Speed Broadband (HSBB) Thread V2, find out on how to become a beta tester!

umm...so how?
*
my bad, i thought there was a way to become a beta tester.
i think that TM just randomly picks anyone to become a beta tester by sending them an e-mail with comfirmation to become one.
just pray it'll be one of us.

beta tester guys, please do us a favour by posting your local and international speed by doing a speedtest.
or even a screenshot of your donwload speed for big size files would be sweet too.
if you've done it, thank you.

please do feel free to post some pictures of the other stuff that was given to you guys by TM.
do continue to update us for those any upcoming beta testers.

hopefully the prices will be reveal soon and i hope its not to pricey. cross fingers.
for now, lets continue discussing TM's HSBB smile.gif

Nah the ping is still very crappy so no point.Post gaming ping when the problem is fixed.

i know we're still in early stages here. these are things still being tested out between TM themself and our fellow beta testers. nothing can be 100% guranteed for now however way we look at it. things might change in the future once people start using HSBB or be it completed through out malaysia in a few years time. but there's nothing wrong in finding out wether or not there's improvement (speed wise, ping/latency, stableness or etc) even if it meant small/medium/big or no improvement's

so i say why not, go for it and test whatever that needs testing and just hope & pray for those little changes smile.gif

pls stop the price speculation unless you've got solid evidence, cos i just spoke to my ex-school mate who's working in TM & is involved in the development of the IPTV service.. & even he doesnt know what the price will be.  apparently its a tightly kept secret. But 1 thing is for sure, there will be 3 packages for home users:

- 5 mbps basic package, internet only no value added service
- 10 mbps w/ iptv & phone
- 20 mbps w/ iptv & phone

what he says is that the iptv n stuff is just a value added service, so don't expect too much from it. cheers
*
5 mbps ? thought TM's High Speed Broadband (HSBB) speeds of 10Mbps and above, no ?

yep, the cheapest package is RM100. nod.gif

TM, which has spent RM1.8bil in capital expenditure for HSBB, is set to launch its next-generation HSBB retail service on March 24 where it will also be unveiling the new branding for this service as well as its tiered packages and pricing. The HSBB retail packages will comprise triple-play services of voice, video (Internet-Protocol TV and video on demand) as well as high-speed Internet.

AmResearch in a report said demand for TM’s upcoming video services would largely hinge on pricing and contents offered.

“We foresee HSBB having a take-up rate in the region of 20,000 by year-end. This will further expand to 110,000 by the end of 2011. Our main assumption hinges on the RM100/month package – the lowest package on offer,” the report added.

well, for now we know that the lowest package is at RM100 a month.
RM100 for what kind of package ? 10, 15, 20 mbps / download & upload speed ?

retail packages will comprise triple-play services of voice, video (Internet-Protocol TV and video on demand) as well as high-speed Internet as said above

i dont mind paying my part/share of 4 mates including me for 168.
still, ill be patient and wait for the official pakage & pricing out 24th March.

QUOTE(tattat @ Mar 13 2010, 07:51 PM)
hahaha.. does it have a caption to it like other countries?

i rmb a fren saying tht he had like 20mb connection for i dunno how much aussie dollars
but cap to like 20gb a month ? I GUARANTEE the price vs SPEED will be like so tempting.

but after u look at the SMALL SMALL writing behind the T&C.... HAHA thats the part where it
will suck like hell. U knw la malaysia...i rather stick to the 1 or 2mb connection with dynamic IP.

oh yea. with the HSSB will it be dynamic or static? if static.....mampus la.. how to rapidshare all..
sumore if got capacity caption...tak payah download..sumore u'll be tracked down if u're downloaing
piraed stuffs if there is static IP.

i have a bad feeling about tis high speed.. something fishy is up! !
*
cant say anything for the caption so far until we read & agree the terms & conditions before starting to subscribe to TM's HSBB
beside's the terms and conditions, there's also fair usage policy if you read the TM's HSBB fact.

http://www.tm.com.my/connecting-you/digita.../Pages/faq.aspx

10. Is there any FUP?
Yes. Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is a standard practise globally. TM is currently looking into this possibility.

29. If I were to switch to HSBB service, what will happen to my contact obligation on Streamyx?
TM will waive any penalty imposed upon successful HSBB service activation.

I'm sure the 5mbps would cater for those who wants higher speed compared to Streamyx but at the same time don't need 10mbps and above. smile.gif
*
from what i know, 10Mbps & above is what we called HSBB. to have 5Mbps below the 10Mbps & above still consider as HSBB ?

384kbps - 4Mbps = Streamyx
10Mbps & above = HSBB
5Mbps = ?

so where did the 5Mbps came from ? tongue.gif

TM To Launch HSBB Retail Service March 24

KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 (Bernama) -- Telekom Malaysia Bhd ™ will launch its next-generation high-speed broadband (HSBB) retail service at Dataran Merdeka here on March 24.

In a statement, TM said the launch would feature showcases and interactive exhibitions to demonstrate the high-speed broadband lifestyle.

"The launch venue will be opened from 7.00pm onwards and the HSBB showcase and interactive exhibitions will remain at Dataran Merdeka until Thursday evening (March 25).

"These showcases will feature multimedia applications for entertainment -- including interactive games and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV)," it said.

TM invites the public to see, touch and feel the exhibits and showcases to experience how it will be like to live and work in a high-speed broadband-enabled environment.

The viewing times for the showcases are: March 24 (7.00pm-10.30pm) and March 25 (8.00pm-10.00pm).

There will also be entertainment and activities like games and contests, lucky draws and open air concerts featuring Bunkface, Aizat, Pop Shuvit, Faizal Tahir, Tomok and Stacy.

To mark the countdown to the launch, Menara TM will be lit up every evening from Mar 18, with a graphical countdown projection beam depicting the number '1' of 1Malaysia leading up to the gala launch date.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will be the guest of honour at the main event in Dataran Merdeka were he will launch both the National Broadband Implementation (NBI) initiative and TM's HSBB service -- which is also one of the NBI's flagship initiative.

The NBI launch will feature a live crossover feed to Sarawak, while TM will be unveiling the new branding for its HSBB service.

The HSBB retail offering will comprise triple-play services of voice, video (IPTV and video on demand), and high-speed Internet starting from speeds of 10Mbps and upwards.

The RM11.3 billion project, signed in September 2008, is a public-private partnership agreement between TM and the Malaysian government to develop next generation HSBB infrastructure and services for the nation.

TM is putting up RM8.9 billion while the government is contributing RM2.4 billion on an incurred claims basis based on project milestones reached by TM.

By end-2012 -- in accordance with the completion of the first phase of the national HSBB project roll-out as agreed with the Government -- approximately 1.3 million premises will have access to the HSBB services.

These nationwide areas -- identified as Zone 1 (key economic areas) -- include the Inner Klang Valley, Iskandar Malaysia and key industrial sites around the nation.

The initial four areas that will be covered by TM HSBB services at the time of service launch are Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Bangsar.

Some 300 users in the four areas are participating in HSBB user trials currently, and interested customers for the service are welcomed to pre-register on the TM website www.tm.com.my.

The user trials, which started in November 2009, have given TM the opportunity to test its systems, processes, fibre installation methodology, with an eye towards providing an enhanced customer service experience.

According to TM, its total expenditure related to the HSBB project as of Dec 31, 2009 reached RM1.9 billion, which covered last-mile access, Internet Protocol core deployment and capacity expansion for international links.

Total approved claims from the government up to December 2009 stood at RM990 million.

In terms of premises passed, TM has exceeded its 2009 target of 150,000 by wiring up to 152,000 premises passed as at Dec 31, 2009.

no.. this is not how to categorize HSBB or stremayx...
streamyx use ADSL technology which have limited maximum speed,
while HSBB use VDSL technology and based on fiber optic infra thus can provide speed up to 1Gbps.
5Mbps can be ADSL or VDSL because both also can provide 5Mbps speed.
*
but it keeps saying 10mbps and above
is there even a 5mbps package for HSBB ?
guess will find out in a couple days time.

QUOTE(xts @ Mar 18 2010, 09:10 PM)
it doesnt matter what speed or package dat they offer but
IMO, HSBB defined on what technology we use  smile.gif

Streamyx = DSL
HSBB = 1) FTTH (PON)
            2) VDSL2 (DSL)
*
yes, the technology is the main importance but not everyone can afford HSBB if the price aint gonna be right.
argh, just a few more days left to wait & find out how much HSBB will cost me.
