lugiamcg: You're supposed to be using a brighter aperture e.g. F1.4.

nashakir: Have you tried using Smart Teleconverter? It was meant for such cases by cropping the picture automatically.

signither: The 28-75mm F2.8 SAM is great optically. But I hate SAM. It's up to you lah.

MechaHerc: Because:

- the Canon/Nikon 85mm F1.8 lenses are pretty affordable already. I don't see why it should be F2.8.
- it might be SAM, seeing how Sony has not released any screw-drive lens since the 16-105mm F3.5-5.6 DT in 2007.
- it might be APS-C only. Though this can be a plus.

I could only approve of it, if:
- it has a much better MFD because it is an APS-C design (like the 50mm F1.8 DT SAM). At least 45cm would be good since the 85mm lenses all only go to 85cm close at the moment.
- it has better maximum magnification, say 1:4x like the 50mm F1.8 DT SAM.
- it is much, much cheaper - maximum RM790 street price.
- it has fast gearing (whether SAM or not). So you can use it as a medium range telephoto to shoot action and portraits.
- it is sharp wide open, and contrasty. So far all the SAM lenses are good optically so this should not be a worry.

Kul | Mo0: The only lens my Opteka is supposed to be threatened by is the Sigma 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM - if that comes in under RM2200 and has the same optical performance it would be interesting. However the Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM look is kinda different from the Opteka look. And you know I don't fancy 'darker' primes like a meager F2.8.

yfchin2: The 55-200mm is better. The Sony 55-200mm is just a rebadged Tamron and can be had for RM500 or less second-hand. Same price for the Sony 75-300mm (which is not a rebadged Tamron). However I would go for the Sony 55-200mm unless you have the funds for the Minolta 70-210mm F4 beercan.

@albnok u mean the sony DT 55-200mm is just like a new version of the tamron 55-200mm and they didnt make much difference in terms of bokeh or IQ??? a new tamron 55-200mm is just rm57x in shashinki...that is why i cant really decide... rclxub.gif

yeah...so beercan actually outstand all of this telezoom lens right??

yfchin2: The Sony has supposedly better coatings than the Tamron. And yes, the beercan has better color and bokeh.

nashakir: If you use -2 EV and ISO400, and brighten it up later, it is the same as using 0 EV and ISO1600.
