Street TT!

signither: Wah, started lah the next upgrade cycle. Don't go for the Zeiss unless you can afford 4 times its amount (to fund for the expensive 'rear cap' and other accessories to go with the 'rear cap'.)

count me in for the Street TT bro.. i don't mind the route we gonna take that day.. laugh.gif

well, i got some voucher from the workshop last week.. so i might have enough fund for that 'rear cap' if i sell off everything (except F42 and F58).. but still undecided on what my 'kit (and only) lens' would be (if i sell 50/1.4 as well) rolleyes.gif

I saw 16105 in your list. Cannot be used? pair it up with F58 you can zoom in for facial expression and zoom out to capture movement. Rather than 50mm

but got F58 to compensate it right? As an OP definitely you'll be placed nearer to the contestants.

It depends on the distance of you and the contestant. Then what kind of dance? slow dance or fast ones also plays part too.

mcline_007: I like #2 and #4. #5 could've been framed a bit lower. I love the color tones in #2 and #3!

signither: Meditate over it, you might find that a 50mm F1.4 can sometimes be all you need. You could go for zooms... but some people eventually migrate to primes.

You could saw off the metal hood of the 8mm to make it 'rear cap' compatible. Then the missing link is maybe the Sony Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 24mm F2.0 SSM. Telephoto might be the rumored budget 85mm F2.8 SAM (ugh!) or a Tamron 90mm F2.8 Macro.

If you're not fussed about optical quality one of those cheap 28-200mm Sigmas will do.

The Minolta 28-105mm F3.5-4.5 seems to fare well as a 'rear cap' kit lens.

nashakir: No flash! If you have the budget, the Opteka 85mm F1.4 will give you some decent range and brightness. It will be manual focus only though, so you will need practice.

guys, i've a prob here..

When i'm using the smallest aperture(>F22), how can i get my image properly illuminated with a fast shutter, without increasing the ISO?

I've tried using flash, but for some reason, my flash wouldn't sync nicely...

Thx in advance...

If you are the OP, I would suggest that you be familiar with the place. Try have a look at the location and try a few shots BEFORE (eg a day before etc) the dance day.

If 50mm is too short, to overcome that, you can use the highest image size setting for your A550 (ie L:14M size). You can crop and resize the photos later. (cropping is just like zooming digitally smile.gif )

IMHO the f1.8 is quite a fast lens (in terms of aperture, ie bright lens). With acceptable clean high ISO of A550, you may get by without using a flash... hopefully smile.gif

Im not sure if using a flash would be much help. The flash would light the dancers in the forefront, but MAY leave the dancers at the back dark. Hence, IMHO best would be to capture the shots using high ISO + bigger aperture + shutter burst mode (multiple exposures) + AF-C ...

Just a noobie's suggestion smile.gif

i've read bout sawing off the hood as well. but the lens cap is attach the the hood, not sure how to attach the cap afterwards sweat.gif

erm, i never consider going primes all the way. might be a good option, because i already have 8mm, 50mm and 135mm (tongue.gif), like u said, just need to complete the mission link.but i'm not sure i'm ready. still prefer some flexibility for kit lens.

but hey, if wanna go MF, i already have 28-80mm lor laugh.gif

btw, how's the 28-75 SAM performs ya? saw some shots before, looks promising. how does it compare to the 2470Z?
