some might find 135 a lil bit long for portrait when using it on apsc..depend on your shooting style/habbit..both are equally good..
my friend said 135 is for FF...Photography The Sony Alpha Thread V37!, The Orange Legion

QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ Mar 14 2010, 10:05 PM) im planning (and hoping) to upgrade my camera next month, i need some help deciding. should i get the a550 or a second hand a700? A550 was almost the same as A3xx's in terms of functionally UI and customization:because i have read quite a few bad reviews about the a550. or should i scoff-off upgrading my camera and get gears instead? -A5xx series take advantages of adding high continuous shooting in both OVF nor LV and HDR and low light shooting, likewise it was added MFLV Check more technical or macro shoots =) -A5xx series take disadvantages as it doesn't have much customization as A700 rival(no direct UI control, shift dial and DOF preview), cheap built and relatively smaller VF size than A700 (if not mistaken =/) and yeah ... hence I heard A100 was a good camera I think is much worth for upgrading lens than the body XD or wait for new Alpha HD series DSLR >.< This post has been edited by wingster: Mar 14 2010, 10:03 PM |

yeah. a100 is actually pretty solid, in terms of build quality and IQ, but it tends to get noisy at ISO 800.

kevinwcw, you really would need to test it for yourself to know the difference. either way, both are CZs, IQ's definitely up to par. its really up to your shooting style to choose which focal length is needed.

QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ Mar 14 2010, 09:05 PM) im planning (and hoping) to upgrade my camera next month, i need some help deciding. should i get the a550 or a second hand a700? well, first... ignore the reviews... but read the cons and pros... and read more cons and pros on every website.... and imagine, the cons,... does it exists on other and older bodies. and does that matter?because i have read quite a few bad reviews about the a550. or should i scoff-off upgrading my camera and get gears instead? A100 is a kinda, old camera, with several generation of technology gap to A550. those who hold A550 knows its a good camera, those who hold A550 but never hold older camera, they dont realize how much gap A550 create. those who hold A550 and owns older camera body, they know how much improvement A550 and gone through... even some A700 user gotten A550 and tumbs up~ for the speed, creative uses (QLV, MFLVc, FaceDetection, auto HDR, etc)... when people say the body build is lousy or cheap... well, i dont think A200 (sorry, no direct offense to A200 user) is any better then A550, period. why do u compare to an A700 with cost 1k~2k more? why not we just take an A900 direct compare with A550? for the pricetag A550 hold... i doubt it's any unworthy of it.... it's so worth the cash spended. but IF, u have intend on A700, i rather advise u wait for A7xx... waiting few months might let u save up another 1k?maybe... but if u dont have intend on A7bodies... then A550 is not a bad nor expensive upgrade. the hell with the review bout the iso200 problems, u have 14mp, resize it to 10mp (same as A300's pixel) i doubt u find the iso issue appear on the resized picture. Added on March 15, 2010, 12:37 am QUOTE(neo_lam @ Mar 14 2010, 10:06 PM) yo yo yo, its about WHAT U NEED.... not which is better..., the range decides what u get,if i need 85mm, and even 135 is king or emperor or god-send.... i dont find it useful, as i need 85mm only... but if i need 135, i wont take 85~ i will find it too short either way. either u find it too long, or too short. sony user has so much advantages and argues bout 85 and 135... sony user usually will find 135 much nicer with ease to use. (due to SSS and 135 at 1/30 also no problem... sharp) other brand, they prefer the 85... F1.8~(most favorable) is better choice... due to the all primes has no VR or IS, which at times, 135 at slow shutter is not an option as it might shake too much. when comes to arguement on this both lens... each has their own better uses. when u use it one a 24mp sensor, the pixel is soo much, that is hard to compare IQ This post has been edited by ieR: Mar 15 2010, 12:37 AM |

KM 135 F2.8 got, around 1.3-1.6k... rare lens. if 135 F2.8, i might save more money go for 70200G which cover the range and sharpness too |

Shot these photos this afternoon (Mar 14, 2010) by the seafront, across the road from Hyatt Hotel, Kota Kinabalu CBD
Photo #1: Saw this white crane perched on a wooden pole. ![]() Photo #2: A 2nd white crane swooped close by, scourng for food. ![]() Photo #3: The 2nd white crane skimmed the sea surface to pick up floating food. ![]() Photo #4: All this while, the 1st white crane stood, unperturbed. ![]() Photo #5: Until its time came, the 1st white crane took off from the wooden pole to swoop for a "mistakenly thought" was a food... found out it was not... hence did a U-turn in mid air and flew back. ![]() Photo #6: Returning to its' pole empty handed or should I say, empty beak-ed ? ![]() Photo #7: Landed safely back to its "observation post" and thus the waiting continues... ![]() Added on March 15, 2010, 1:55 amwaah... bro signi.
