Its a mini version of that just for you to rest your camera body or lens instead of exposing them to a surface that might scratch your camera.

albnok: the thing is im not too knowledgable on technicalities, i do think that the a550 will be a big leap from my current a100.

but would it be adviseable to go for gears or body?

have u tried A550? how does it feel? how does the image quality is to u? if u have not, go try it. (bring ur memory card, to save the picture in)

after u tested A550... now, its time for u to decide. is the A100 is unusable? or do u feel ur A100 is at it's limit. do u feel u really need the A550's boost of spec?

Answer:
i) Yes, upgrade it.
ii) No, stay with A100... and sell ur kitlens and helious, buy a 16-80cz, and u will see the Extreme Sharpness and IQ from the A100!

auww, how come not satisfied? compare to old film age where u use 24' film roll and full manual focus... what more u to ask? sad.gif

but i thought composition is more important then a D3s (where it claimed to be most satisfied camera in the world) tongue.gif

Any suggestion where can I get a good tripod for my A550 + maybe in future a 70200 or 70300 lens ?

Im thinking of Velbon or Benro tripods.
Does the tripod include the head? which head should I look for?
Pls suggest slowly as Im still new to tripods and dont know much.
However, I want to get something that would last and is sturdy and light.

In my mind at this moment are 2 brands, ie Velbon or Benro
Im also considering the carbon fiber.
Ive had a look at Velbon Sherpa... looks nice.

I would like my tripod to PREFERABLY / IDEALLY be :
1- 3 sections (or maybe 4)
2- max height ~ 150 cm
3- clip lock, not the twist lock.
4- cheap smile.gif

Velbon GEO and SHERPA series look nice...

Any comments & suggestion?
What about the head?

benro A-168m8+BH-0 - ~RM600

allu
4section.
travel angel (very small when folded, but still a strong tripod when unfold)
8kg load, the BH-0 is 6kg, hence 6kg loadlimit (more then enough, unless u plan to do birding where the head is little un-versatile)
max height of 1.41m + head around another 15cm

water resistant twist lock (better and faster then fast clip ler)!

utube benro travel angel, and prepare to get heavy poison...

to sum it up. allu 4 sec, 1410mm~ height, 375mm! folded, 8kg load tripod!, water resistant twist lock... (sorry to introduce a twist lock, but benro's twist seem very reliable)

Sometimes ago i do faced the same problem.

The problem solved when i applying a small piece (one layer only) of masking tape at the body's hot shoe.
