for me a230 330 & 380 is a trendy camera.. just for light user use for themself.. thats why they dont need VG, no need AE and they might find the tilt LCD is very useful  laugh.gif . to make it smaller something must be sacrificed. and also rm 2.5k twin kit compared to rm 3k twin kit its 350 older brother last time ..  rclxms.gif

if you are serious just go for A550..  icon_rolleyes.gif  1k shot for full charge... high quality with a cheap price..
else  just go for D3000 or 1000d you compared
*
my a300 can also shoot 1k shot also...depend on ur setting on the camera itself....

guys, i came across this link a photoblog for those who know chinese, can read, others sorry ya... actually my question is... the photographer didn PP the photos.. but y every photo only center in focus? is it caused by the DOF??
*
i dont think it has DOF... from the pics..

the lens is sharp at center and VERY soft at corners.. biggrin.gif

but still me also dont know how TLR works..

hazril : im just saying according to CIPA test standard

my A350 also can go up to 1.2k -1.5k shot in daylight shutter 1/200 and above..

and just now shooting i can go for 1k shot with remaining 20% batt (mem card full.. haha icon_rolleyes.gif )

A380 of course suitable for beginner. heck even my super old 350D also more than enough for beginner, i use it for serious work in fact. smile.gif

Added on March 7, 2010, 2:20 amoh forgot to say, 350D was Canon's 2006 model. compare that to Sony's A380 of 2009 - it's really really really far apart in soooooooooooooo many ways.

signither: I usually set it to 1 meter F8 for above-the-head group shots and 0.3 meters for one or two faces. 2 meters for further away subjects and infinity for landscapes. You may set it to a further away distance for a diagonal fisheye as my numbers are for circular fisheyes.

I noticed the Samyang 8mm F3.5 doesn't have a DOF scale to give you a good clue what will be in focus or what will not. However we know darn right about everything is in focus anyway!

ieR: Both of them rate between ISO801 and ISO809 so if you say "little" some people might think it is a lot more.

kmarc: A fresh set of AA batteries should recharge in 4 seconds at 1/1 manual power on the F42 and F58.

Also for testing the flash zoom, put the kit lens on and turn it from 18mm to 55mm. The flash should zoom together.

nashakir: If it takes 12 seconds then it's going to die already.

yfchin2: Tighter crops would be better.

Kul | Mo0: I was expecting pictures of you rolling in action! But cool.

hokc77: Congratulations on making it down. Nice #2 and #4!

porkchop: Yes only the A700, A850 and A900 have dual cross sensors and a F2.8 sensor.

e-jump: It is just a bit overexposed, and you could pick a more interesting road and align the center exactly.

lauyamonk: Not liking the shrubs at the bottom of #1. Well done on #2 and #4 though, and #3 looks violent LOL.

lwliam: Ewin has a 3rd party A700 vertical grip but it is really cheap-looking. sad.gif It doesn't have the lowered shutter.

eddybeh: I can't read Chinese but it looks like he was using a plastic TLR which has a cheap lens which is only sharp in the middle. Nothing to do with DOF.

Though, TLRs have split-prism rangefinders which are only on the center so you can only focus well on the center. If the outside has ground glass then you can use that to focus off-center as well. Same thing in manual focus SLRs.

Thanks for those comments. my budget can't reach 3k actually. just 2k+ a bit. Still studying. Need to save a bit...
Maybe not getting a dslr so soon. Hope got newer series of cameras coming out from all the manufacturers. Then i got more cameras to compare.
My fren also gave me some bad comments on a380 especially on the grip(not VG). He said playing with A380 doesn't give him the feel of dslr. The position of shutter doesn't suit him well.
Regarding lens, i also thought of that b4. There's enough basic lenses to be used, either from sony itself or 3rd party.
AE lock... I just saw it from a review. Not really sure what isit.
Battery life wise... Really impressed with sony older series and a5XX series battery life. 7XX~1000 shots for single charge comparing about 500 shots. I'm thinking why do sony give it a downgrade in battery. My fren also told me that it's better to buy a350 comparing a380 but it's discontinued.
Btw, my fren is using d90 with also nearly 1k shot per charge.
Sadly, no budget to go for d90.

@nashakir
So... u recommended me to go for 1000d or d3000 instead of a380? How about a380 twin lens compared with 450d kit?

i mean beside looking for a380 weakness look for 1000d and d3000 weakness.. no point i mention the weakness here..
as your fren said a380 grip is not feel good enough.. same with the 1000 and 3000.. (as for me grip for a700 and above, d80 and above, and 50d and above feels good.. but the price.. flex.gif )

my advise.. go to the shop.. try it our yourself... not once.. many2 time.. and dont rush.. icon_rolleyes.gif

but my personal opinion... once you buy.. urge to sell it back to get a better one is there... a380 rm 2.2k.. with a550 2.4-2.6k + (kitlen 100-200) add just a few hundred.. in a few month.. can do it biggrin.gif

nashakir: Evergizer? Is that a typo? Energizer MAX or the normal RM11.90 for 4AA Energizers are good alkalines. Fresh out of the box they give me a 4 second recharge for 1/1 power. Have you used yours?

Unless you mean NiMh rechargeable batteries. I had 2500 mAh Energizer batteries become unchargeable recently (one by one they could not be used, many months later.) Then again this is normal for a lot of rechargeable batteries.

jerrylyh: I like the idea of #2 but not so appropriate on this. #3 would probably be better as a landscape.

yeah, we've been there on that topic, and very well, its not damn worth getting that... so that's not counted as a proper 3rd party VG to me tongue.gif

LOL, you can just stand in the middle of overhead bridge to try wink.gif
A1 : i think its from a bus or lorry roof light indicator thingie
A2 : I just use normal UV filter. Basically if you stop down the Aperture to F1x and below, you'll began to get the star effect wink.gif
anyway, i think i messed up the WB.. I'm using autoWB, and manual focus to infinity

overhead bridge at NIGHT...easier said that done by me sad.gif
light indicators, that make perfect sense =D

guys wanna ask a question, for lenses that hunts in low light (such as tamron 1750 2.8), if u have the red light that helps focusing (such as the one on the a700 or flashes like f42) on when focusing in low light, will it reduce or eliminate the hunting?
