RTM HD
........
RTM HD Launched Trial2008, 2009
Owned by Radio Televisyen Malaysia
Picture format 1080p (HDTV)
..................
RTM in full HD 1080p is just a dream right now. Maybe they means to broadcast 1080p in 2020. tongue.gif
In 2020 other channel already broadcast UltraHD.

Not sure. They won't even answer phone now.
Hope it's true. But if it's 5 local in-house channels, what use is it?
Agreed.

Its going to be overseas channels. That I am quite sure. From wht i know, they are still upgrading their system in Astro to support more HD Channels.

FW: F1 HD?‏

We refer to your email of 16 March 2010.

Firstly, we regret for the delay in responding to your email.

With regard to your enquiry on the Formula 1 race we wish to clarify that Astro continues to encourage our sports content providers to provide native HD content for the HD channels. During this transition period between HD and SD television production, it is not always guaranteed to have 100% HD material on our sports channels as not every sporting event is produced in high definition. This situation is not unique to Astro as other broadcasters and content providers around the world are currently undergoing such transition.

Formula 1 is not produced in HD at any of the current circuits and our understanding is that there are no plans to up-grade this season. There may be operators around the world who are up-converting i.e., the broadcast feed received in 16:9 SD quality, enabling better up-conversion to HD. Further, the picture and sound quality of the content is greatly enhanced on the HD channels due to our improved video transmission capabilities, better video compression and newer physical technologies such as a direct HDMI connection with the television. Just like the transition from black and white television broadcast to colour television broadcast, it will take a little while more before we get to a stage where all content is produced entirety in high definition, a fact that we have acknowledged when we first introduced the HD services.

We hope the above clarifies your concerns.

We thank you for your comments and look forward to your continuous support.

Best regards,

The Astro CS just got back to me and they said that they're "upgrading" the fun package by "adding new content" to Playhouse Disney Asia. I bet that they're preparing to "inject" their own content into the channel?

Astro, I want new channels damnit, don't mess with existing channels! I know how to check Singapore guides, if I start finding differences you will not hear the end of this! vmad.gif mad.gif

Somebody else said it before. The equipment outlay is a one-time cost (sans maintenance and tape costs). The real cost of HD is in fixing the makeup, wardrobe and sets. That's because the production has to be of movie-set quality. You made me look at the HDW790. Yeah, it costs US$60,000.

But if you're a production house or starting one, I think investing in about 4-6 RED One cameras are better at US$18,000 per body. You do have to rent the lenses but at least your footage can be up to 4K and higher than 4K Digital Cinema standards; of course you can shoot in HD too with RED One. Lots of films were shot with RED One cameras, including The Informant, The Book Of Eli, Knowing and District 9. So practically, you're shooting your project at a very high quality. AND you could buy a mount that, combined with two RED Ones, will enable you to shoot in 3D.

Anybody who's thinking of buying a Betacam HD is thinking about quality issues. Handycams are great for non-professionals or when you want a HD footage but not having the insurance to put a BetaHD cam in the danger zone. There's a slew of settings you can play with on the more expensive cameras than you could with a consumer grade camera. You get what you pay for.

By the way, I heard that the Astro site visit was canceled because of lack of attendance. I would suggest that the organizers ask Astro for a rescheduling prior to the World Cup HD broadcast can be scheduled. That way people can see how they handle live and taped feeds.

I hope they wont do it.... biggrin.gif

about the proton cars... maybe 2 Gen-2 kot... dunno much about car price la... but HD camera is definitely expensive... thats why our local content provider and film makers cant afford to shoot in HD kot... cos the cost is just too high...

I read in this thread I think... saying that all Astro Channel will be in HD by the end of 2010... WOW!!

Hehe..i hardly watch astro channel..but my mother often watch it. She doesnt care it is HD or what. I think astro should upscale all of the ch. and transmit it in 16:9 format. That would be better i think.
