am wondering how many extra HD channel will be made available during world cup as astro claimed all the matches will be available in HD. it's a good indicator to the actual amount of HD channels that astro able to support currently.. and i'm sure extra channel will be available for SD channel as well...

i only hope i no need to listen to the crap commentator from the Star Sport only in ESPN HD. original commentator provide better info on the strategy and technical terms instead

it is known that HD content would only available in HDMI cable (even it's viewable, but its 576i quality, not 720p or 1080i). it's not the box's fault, it's simply because of industrial standard (as well as HDCP thingy)

Not industrial standard, since component can do 1080p AND copy protection(using Macrovision). Common belief is that Astro thought it's more feasible to leave out HD over component completely to save money instead of implementing Macrovision over component (and thus needing to pay license for two different copy protection routines) and increase price of decoder.
They better offer a lite version. Or else I will flip out. And I do have an idea of what they're launching after talking to a TMPoint Manager, and they do indeed have the channels I want.

Already do my calculations. Moving to Shah Alam is not feasible monetarily even though it has the secondary upshot of letting me live nearer to my office.

As for the Astro cannot call back... so how did it relay the viewing habits of the family back to Astro? Unless it's like that Mathnet episode... fake survey box, the marketing people is actually pulling the numbers out of their ass and decided to oust channels that they don't like "just because"

should say astro standard (since in Malaysia only astro is in this satellite broadcast industry tongue.gif). sorry sweat.gif

signal 55 is definitely too low.. not sure boaster will works or not but changing the cable is the best option. u can try with new cable (bypass the old concealed cable) to see if it solve the problem or not before think further..

the zoom is really awful! it lost so much of the top and bottom's detail!

basically no more ESPN/star sport or watever channel logo on top and we dont even know who got sub out! pillar box doesnt look that appealing sad.gif

You can can still stretch via your TV if you prefer to.
Zoom option is perfect for 4:3 letterboxed shows.

tried it, still cant fill up the both left and right screen (top and bottom is ok). and i dont prefer to do that cos everytime u switch from HD->SD or vice versa u need to reverse the setting again

you see the pillar box mode for Discovery channel. the 2nd line of subtitle is actually in the black area at the bottom instead of inside the picture

the PQ is improving (because of pillar box and zoom mode, not because of its really improved)? the only way to tell is bring back the stretch mode!

My TV can set to stretch mode (wide zoom) when astro mode is 4:3 using HDMI, wonder why y'all can't.  smile.gif Seem like astro didn't test for all tv brand.
But I still prefer byond stretch mode (if I want it stretch) in previous byond firmware 1.01, because tv wide zoom will cropped some left & right part (start from minutes part will be gone in astro banner) even though I set my tv to overscan.

It will be great if byond have step zoom (from pillar box untill full screen), so user can set to what they're prefer. My tv has 4 step zoom from overscan (but not until full screen for 4:3), I prefer to max zoom for SD channel. But the thing is, it will also zoom for HD channel which is I don't like. The step zoom in my tv can't set with zoom button, I need to go to screen setting, a bit annoying.

With this new byond 1.1s, I need to set my tv to overscan. Still play around, still not sure it will suite my preference or not.
*
i can use wide zoom but i need to revert back the setting of the TV to the original whenever i want to switch to HD channel. quite troublesome rite? also there's still pillar on left and right side (top and bottom are fit)

i dont want the zoom.. just give me back stretch.. if zoom, sure some parts of top and bottom will gone if want to fill up left and right side
