Reliable sources confirmed most of the channels going on HD sooner between June & Dec 2010. RM50m spent on couple of HD channel rights

interesting insider info, so astro is going to use all 12 transponders in measat 3A, but I think it is still not enough capacity in measat 3A to braodcast all channels in HD, they can only transmit 5 HD channels per transponder

if it is upscaled, then it still needs the same bandwidth as the real HD channel

I think astro will use some of the transponders from old measat 3 to transmits some of the HD channels

receive multiple answer for this.
1. SD channel can, HD cannot
2. must change the old dish LNB, then HD can
3. SD and HD can without doing anything

so which answer is correct?

try it yourself, and you will know the real non-bull answer brows.gif

*
the only difference between old and new is the dish size, increases from 60cm to 65cm, both are using exactly the same LNB, so you figure out the logical answer icon_rolleyes.gif

based on this link http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=Sear...ts&highlite=lnb

well actually if you read the version 1 of this thread. You can find answer of your question.... They change dish for better signal so old dish still can be used but the LNB must change due to some HD channel is in vertical or horinzontal position of the lnb (new lnb can automatic switch position).... the old lnb only in horizontal position only and can't swith position like the new one.... the old cable can do no problem.... and I'm still picked no 2 for the answer. Hint... I worked in a satellite company.... flex.gif  flex.gif  flex.gif

since day 1 astro used universal LNB, universal means it got voltage switchable horizontal + vertical polarisation, and 22KHz switch for lo frequency of 9750 MHz and 10600MHz

As far as I know, the bitrates for HD channel are around 8-9Mb, what about local TV broadcast?  hmm.gif Excluding other international satellite tv...  unsure.gif

most probably locally astro produced channels will go HD first, I think astro should have purchased the needed HD camera by now, by doing this they don't have to pay loyalty, astro can even earn money by selling these HD program

someone in lyn is selling 2m cable, or try your luck at supermarket, some are selling 3m cable, the price is around rm30, make sure they give you at least 1 week warranty, so you can get back to them for exchange or refund if the cable doesn't work
