Guys,

I would like to withdraw from EPF, invest in mutual funds. Can list down some of the best mutual funds products (EPF approval)? Besides Public Mutual products, any other good mutual funds products?
*
The top performing EPF funds for Feb 2010 – Feb 2011
http://www.mypublicmutual.com/2011/02/top-...r-feb-2010.html

Good luck.

Based on here for a half year investment, Pbgf is getting a total return of 6.15%, which means you are starting to make a net return of 0.65% (6.15%-5.5%). However, things look bleak for Pbindobf as from the chart, it is still making -0.44% return, and this translates to a -5.94% return from your investment. For Pbcaef, it looks just slighty better with 2.42% gross return.

I can give you some advice, but in the end it still depends on what's your risk appetite, how long you are willing to invest, and your preference over investment portfolio (local or overseas funds). For your situation, the reason you choose both China and Indonesia fund is because you are interested in these two overseas market, am I right? If that's the case, then you have 2 choices: first, to continue your investment in these funds if you believe overseas markets will have a strong growth in the coming years, or switch over to other lower risk investment, such as local funds.

For me, I will usually advise my investors to go for funds with good track records (such as PEF, PDSF, PFSF, PITTIKAL, etc).

It's actually depends on what you think of those market, and this is quite subjective due to the fact that China and Indonesia are new funds which none of us can do too much analysis about it. A good previous example is that during the beginning of Public Mutual's award-winning "Public Smallcap Fund": on the first 18 months of the fund, the performance is not good, with approximately -4% return for the investors, but guess what? Investors start making money thereafter, and reap hefty profits from the investment.

As for myself, I have invested a small amount in China market, previously losing money but recently the fund start to make some return. The fact is that I'm also facing a similar dilemma just like you, wondering whether I should continue investing in the fund. sweat.gif

Only invested 6 months then considering to switch? i think is too fast...u cant even to recover ur 5.50% service charges...
UT is for long term, anyway u can make it for short term investment (i think many people invest in UT like invest in share market), but the result might be disappointed...
unless u enter in end of 08 or beginning of 09...then the return is nice...

Must be the Portugal re-rating effect. Portugal cannot meet their debt obligation and is asking Godfather (aka EU) for a bail-out.

You can check its performance here, and through past performance and personal analysis from The Edge, PBGF is among of the most performing funds for Public Bank.

Can't see much big news about Portugal. Even if there is news, Portugal alone is simply not big enough to have that sort of impact. Especially when PM's bond funds are mostly based locally.

Don't know what it is though about the Bond funds' drop.

ECB hiked interest rate yesterday, it is also widely believe Malaysia will increase interest rate. When interest rate goes up, bond comes down. The drop is an anticipation of the interest rate increase. whistling.gif laugh.gif

Below is a quoted from CIMB Investment bank...

Meanwhile, we foresee a possibility of an interest rate hike in 2Q-3Q2011. This comes after hearing Bank Negara Malaysia policymakers’ statements after the recent 11 March MPC meeting and at the release of its 2010 Annual Report in late March. Bank Negara policymakers hinted of higher interest rates going forward. They will have to assess their policy stance as growth becomes more sustainable and inflationary pressures mount, but at the same time external headwinds temper growth prospects. Even though, policymakers said the level of interest rates will remain supportive to safeguard economic growth, they hinted they will also review of the degree of monetary accommodation as growth, inflation, and external factors develop further. We maintain our OPR target of 3.25% by end-2011 and think that the rate hike could come as early as the next MPC meeting scheduled for May 2011.
