In fact, I like HD2 more than Iphone3Gs due to its ability to multitask and faster response etc  rclxm9.gif

However, I like the internet browsing in Iphone. Its smoother, the pinch to zoom is so much smoother than HD2.

Pinch to zoom is quite useful for me as I read articles via phone most of the time. With Pinch to zoom I could have
adjust the font size to my liking with just a pinch.  icon_rolleyes.gif

p/s:I am not bias because I owned both of them.

I agree. But I still think the Opera browser can improve further. For example, double tapping does not zoom till content fits side to side of screen. It usually overshoots, though the text is reflowed. On the iPhone it always zoom till the content fits the screen. Also the pinch and zoom on iPhone is more accurate. Maybe because its really smooth and can detect find adjustments.

A brief comparison between the htc HD2 and Nexus One. I decided to post this due to many requests from my friends about this topic. Firstly there is NO best phone between the 2 of them. It all boils down to your needs. Both phones has its pros and cons. Overall I still prefer the htc HD2 due to my needs and this does not mean the Nexus One is a poorer choice.

I have set a rating of 10 ( being the best ) and 1 ( Poorest) as just a guide to the features. Again this is my own opinion - no "flaming" please

Question:
1. Can the Nexus One replace my htc HD2 ?? : YES if I do not have a better choice
2. Is Iphone better than Nexus : My opinion positive NO ; given a choice I prefer the Nexus than the iPhone ; I also have a iPhone and mostly I use only for podcasts/ audio books only

OK now to the comparison:

CPU Specs : Same for both - Qualcomm SnapDragon QSD8250 1 GHz
Overall performance: Nexus ( 9 ), HD2 (10)

Screen Display : Nexus - Amoled capacitive 480x800 pixel 3.7 in ( 10) ; HD2 - TFT capacitive 480x800 pixel 4.3" ( 8)

3G/HSPDA signals pickup : Nexus ( 7) , HD2 (10)

Alert/Notifications : Nexus ( 10 ), HD2 ( 7 ) due to Nexus trackball features

Soft Keys reliability/performance : Nexus ( 7 ), HD2 ( 10 )

WiFi performance : Comparable not much difference between the 2

Sound : Nexus ( 7 ), HD2 ( 10 )

Scrolling smoothness : Nexus ( 10 ), HD2 ( 8 )

Installation flexibility : Nexus ( 5 ) , HD 2 ( 10 ) : For HD2 you have a choice to install onto internal memory or SD card while Nexus by default all installed onto internakl memory unless you have a Apps2SD option in your rom ( to have this you need to root it and install one of the roms having this function )

SMS/MMS speed and reliability : Nexus ( 10 ), HD2 ( 8 )

Browser : Nexus ( 8), HD2 ( Opera - 10 ; builtin default Explorer - 5 )

Camera : Nexus ( 10 ), HD2 ( 8 )

GPS pickup : Nexus ( 10 ), HD 2 ( 9 )

Default programs functionality and features : Nexus ( 7 ), HD2 ( 10 ) : So to maximize Nexus functionality and feartures MUST root and installed one of the cook roms and replace some of the builtin programs with better alternatives found in Market

Battery Life : Nexus ( 10 ), HD2 ( 8 ) : Nexus however feels warmer with heavy use and it feels hot during charging while HD2 just feels warm

ROMs changing : Nexus ( 10 ), HD 2 ( 5 ) : Changing roms in Nexus is so simple and fast ( matter of only 2 minutes and all done thro SD card ) while HD2 process more tedious ( takes about 15 minutes ). ON HD2 once rom is change all data is completely wipeout and restoration is not 100 % usiing Sprite Backup/SpB Backup - reliability also depends on typoe of rom one choose. I rate Nexus ( 10 ) in this aspect vs HD2 ( 5 )

I am willing to answer any further questions as I am a user of both phones

For those of you who are having call quality issues like background hissing noise, echos when running custom ROMs there is a new recent release for the Radio ROM. Its version 2.09.51.03_2. This version works great for me and the power consumption is good. Call quality is now clear and bright without the background noise issue.

Please note that you cannot just upgrade the Radio ROM over your stock official ROM. This is custom ROM territory and you will need to do HSPL before proceeding. You can get the Radio ROM from xda-developers.

Update:

By the way, has anyone found a nice combo (Custom ROM with 576MB RAM configuration and Radio ROM that does not have call quality issues)?

Will it make a lot of difference? I know for GSM radio yes but WIFI quite ok unless you're trying to connect to an access point far far away.

Here's another video --> http://www.gadgetvenue.com/htc-hd2-officia...ideos-03024450/

Nope, I went straight to 1.72 based ROM when I got mine. I have a feeling the 1.66 official ROM is pretty good including the 2.06 radio. Does it crack when on the call?

Flashing Season! I just did a multi flash trying to get rid of gremlins.

Backup>Flash Stock 1.66>Hard Reset>Flash Dutty 1.8a>Hard Reset>Flash Radio 2.08.50.08_2>Hard Reset>Restore

All in about 40 mins. Hope the gremlins will disappear.

i think flashing is pretty safe now. if u using microsd method, so long the power and microsd never cut off while flashing, then u r safe.

just to be careful while flashing SPL. cable cut off in SPL could really kill our beloved device then.. hehe..
