are those hdds listed as primary master/slave and secondary on SATA or IDE?

there might be a possibility that the SATA controller is dead. My friend had a P4 mobo too, and the IDE controllers just went dead for no reason. Couldn't detect any devices on either ports.

Good luck with that PM8MV. I've tried and tried for almost 6 months already to have the SATA ports working. I've tried updating the BIOS and everything but still useless.

Worst still, each and every extra RAM I slot in it comes out error. doh.gif
Stuck at 500Mb RAM forever. doh.gif

To all P4 users here, its sad to say I'm departing from this platform. My new download rig will be either Dual Core or Sempron/Athlon powered. sad.gif

I will only make the switch when my current 1TB HDD is full.

Oh, and remember my 808GB HDD? It has died too. sad.gif
Have it RMAed and WD swapped a 1TB HDD for me. All my "1 year Jack Sparrow" gone. cry.gif

Opps...VIA chipset doesn't work well with their SATA port. That's too bad. Your amount of RAM is able to show out 500MB?

guys, my friend's pc has this problem. it's cant boot, and once i took out all the IDE cables, it can boot. When i use different cables, sometimes it boots sometimes it does not. However when it does boot, the IDE hard disks and CD-ROM cant be detected. Could it be that the IDE port / chip KO-ed?

yes, POST. pins on the connector? yeah they are all intact. Even tried with a new cable, can't detect also.

and there's another problem. When using a stick of 512MB ram, it doesn't boot. when i use another stick, it boots. Sign of motherboard gonna KO also?
