haha..i'm tempted to run 7 on my AMD x2 now, although with 1GB. So if can get any feedback from P4 users here, can roughly know what the performance will be like.
If still using P4 i dont think i'll run on 7 tongue.gif

You will feel P4 run slower than a dual core configuration in Win 7 definately. But 1GB of RAM in dual core vs 2 oe 3GB of RAM in P4. I would say P4 is always more responsive than dual core with 1GB of RAM.

just for info, few days ago i actually tried running win7 on a Pentium Dual Core laptop with 1GB RAM, it's actually quite responsive and fast. but that was probably because it was just formatted i guess. In the long run i think it wouldn't be good. From what I observed, after startup and some minor internet usage, the RAM usage is around 50-60%.

so i guess i better get another 1gb ram before trying on my X2..

I agree with this as we know RAM is pretty importart for newer OS and applications today. Get yourself at least another 1GB of RAM to ensure the smoothness.

just bought it from lelong the 3.4G, but got a broken pin so send back for warranty liao. actually previously i was running on 2.4G on asrock MB, but then i bought the 3 units of p4p800-x quite sometimes and it can fit up to 4 slots of rams.
now i encounter the problem of bios reset each time i switch off the main switch for my CPU after shut down. cmos battery changed, but still the same. any p4p800-x user facing this type of problem as me? if so, what is the solution?

i don't face this problem for my asrock mb.

i've tested 2 board also like that. the other still unopen. i just wanna confirm it this the board behavior or not.

now damn frustrated vmad.gif after i wasted my whole night taking out my asrock replacing with this asus board hoping to see some improvement but ended up.. haiz... felt like wanna place back my asrock back if i can't solve this bios reset as everytimes i needa change the time, sata boot and other setting. really kacau!!

** i can't remember this happen to my 3.4G proc or not as i used it not more than 2 weeks then swap back to 2.4G now. The 2.4G had been running without an issue in the asrock board previously.

Talking on this Asus mobo,i would say i faced the same problem before. Good thing about this mobo is it's a 865P based chipset and i believe it can o/c better than any Asrock mobo. You could try to replace your CMOS battery and see if it helps. Mine changed battery and it worked well for a while. Why you have bought 3 units of Asus P4P800-X mobos? sweat.gif You have a few P4 system with you?

i've changed the battery but still same, but miracle happen. it never reset yesterday after i power off the main power for 8 hours.

actually I planned to build a small network for my house with a server and other stuff to test out ma. so got a few board to play around with. by the way, my ASROCK P4i65G mobo also run on the same chipset as asus.

The Asrock mobo has integrated display inside, the perofrmance would be par with Asus mobo if running on stock speed with your processor.

The Asus mobo tends to reset frequently with no suprise. After a while seeing this, i also don't seem to bother with ther performance from the mobo itself. Recently has just got it sold off at cheap price.

i never used the onboard vga, unless my vga spoilt, but that's just for temporarily. i am suspecting my vga having some problem now ashe ram reading on the bios never show the correct amount as i placed it.

laugh.gif sometimes it's weird that when you hoping for the mobo to die so that can upgrade, it doesn't, but when you don't want it to die, it somehow dies sweat.gif

256M.

weird enough. last night i swapped the 9550 with gforce mx-440 and the bios can read the ram memory up to 3.9G and from win7 it show that 3.85G usable instead of 2.5G when i used A9550.

now i am suspecting it is the either ATI, A9550 VGA or my VGA card is having the compatibility issue since using 1 ciplak AGP can display the memory space correctly from the bios!

Your problem is a bit odd with different amount of RAM detected with different VGA card. I think this is not the fault of VGA card but the lame Asus P4P800-X.

This is the problem when they build a mobo like a tank with no OC features. No reason for it to go wrong laugh.gif

Intel 865PERL doesn't have o/c feature tagged along but you are still able to set the RAM timing by using Intel Desktop Controller.

Win7 doesn't have driver for creative webcam & Canon printer, that's the reason why you are still in Vista today. Is it possible to use Vista driver to be installed in Win7 ?
