No point, just teasing. And plus the MBP just got announced, so technically it's an even shinier new toy. =) And yes, I now the difference between the two.

Personally I think it's really due to the lack of stock. Apple can take forever to address customer's issues.

QUOTE(wei @ Apr 15 2010, 01:46 AM) Ok... I've dig around and found info on US iPad warranty. I have mentioned earlier, there is no provision in their warranty doc restricting local servicing/warranty, so a customer may seek confirmation/approval for their product to be sent for warranty locally. The issue Apple may concern is the availabiltiy of the parts and labour skill..I understand many have been pointing toward this policy: http://images.apple.com/legal/warranty/doc...arranty_v20.pdf Under this phrase: "Apple may restrict service to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the hardware product". It clearly stated MAY. Which is subjective. It's not a MUST. Then further down: "If you seek service in a country that is not the country of original purchase, you will comply with all applicable import and export laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges. Where international service is available, Apple may repair or exchange defective products and parts with comparable products and parts that comply with local standards." Which definitely sounds like we could actually get support outside US. Then you check this: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?m...49417? Last post. I need to know who and where is the proof stating "No International Warranty for iPad" came from. Is that just an assumption or there're some official statement that I missed. who knows, they may agree and ask you to pay for the shipping of replacement parts... |

OK OK, just off the phone with AppleCare....
My question: "Does iPad come with international warranty? As in I bought one in US (Obviously), then I left the country and having issue, do I get support outside of US (for support & warranty claim)?" Answer: "We are still not sure yet. We have to wait till it's available worldwide." So, it's still not a firm thing yet. This post has been edited by wei: Apr 15 2010, 10:35 AM |

QUOTE(mAxPC @ Apr 15 2010, 09:16 AM) For surfing it is all right, but holding it for long periods of time can be tiring so have to usually prop it on the legs. App wise I have only purchased Pages and GoodReader for iPad. I did not purchase Numbers and keynote because they do not export to MS office format only Pages does that so far. Typing replies and stuff is best done on landscape keyboard. were you able to purchase any of the books? seamlessly?Only downloaded some free books. Not really into some of the selection there. But as some people mention, searching through the bookstore or the AppStore in the iPad can be a bit of a pain at times. Screen is good for reading and on the lowest screen brightness it is still readable. i'm interested in the ipad mostly for the ebook reader since kindle seems a bit too complicated to own and to purchase the books. plus ipad offers more than kindle;) tx |

QUOTE(Eithanius @ Apr 15 2010, 02:40 AM) The question here is, how would you define international...? bro, i dont think there is such a clause in their legal warranty doc...From what Apple's stated as you've quoted, Apple may provide support services providing if and when such devices that are purchased from the country of origin is sent back to that country, in this case, only in the States. So you cannot send it into Apple Stores in Australia for example, nor any other stores or resellers in any other countries except US. So are we defining International as it revolves Apple worldwide, or are we defining as in iPad consumers worldwide...? it did mentioned warranty at country of purchase or otherwise, PROVIDED ALWASY there is evidence of purchase and Local Law applicable... in conclusion, it is all up to Apple to decide... Added on April 15, 2010, 12:15 pm QUOTE(wei @ Apr 15 2010, 10:33 AM) OK OK, just off the phone with AppleCare.... expected answer bro, simply ipad not launch outside US, and their parts definetely cant be available elsewhere...My question: "Does iPad come with international warranty? We have to wait till it's available worldwide." So, it's still not a firm thing yet. it is a consumer's right to request/demand/appeal, as a reputable corp, they definetely concern of complaints from their supporters. anything is possible, since they have online customer service center. Spoken to them before for my ipod and macbook warranty claim, which after my appeal, they approved warranty for casing and replacement for my ipod touch (the device sent in with a obvious dent which may have caused the earphone jack spoilt)..they scared of noisy customer This post has been edited by bearbearhong: Apr 15 2010, 12:15 PM |

QUOTE(bearbearhong @ Apr 15 2010, 12:10 PM) bro, i dont think there is such a clause in their legal warranty doc... dude... did i say i quoted directly from Apple's legal warranty doc...? I was merely quoted from wei's context... and didn't i use the word "MAY"...? which part of my sentence you don't understand..?it did mentioned warranty at country of purchase or otherwise, PROVIDED ALWASY there is evidence of purchase and Local Law applicable... in conclusion, it is all up to Apple to decide... of course with the word "MAY" even in Apple's legal term, it's up to them to decide what they wanna do with it..., and like i said, it's open to interpretation This post has been edited by Eithanius: Apr 15 2010, 12:34 PM |
