better go check at service center... if still under warranty you can repair it for free....

I can say that these problem always happen in every version of these thread hehehe...

i not sifu, but i wanan answer tongue.gif i only know the cheapest cpl brand octopus selling for like rm80 only, if u go for branded ones like Hoya pro1d or b+w, then it will cost around rm200+ i guess? and depends on your thread size too. i think not really worth it to get cpl lens for filter, better upgrade to better lens first only get a good cpl tongue.gif

p/s: cheapo cpl can cause glaring and lower quality image...

Hi,
i just check out the a380 last weekend.. and im kinda poisoned by this camera. im going to buy a DSLR by end of this month. but before the a380, i saw a nikon d3000 (at times square) which the cost is around rm2300. can anyone of sifus here tell me which 1 shud i go for? my budget is around rm2000 - rm2500. and im not DSLR user (*YET*). besides, i heard sony lenses are more expensive than other brand like nikon/canon. is that real? Help me.. im kinda confused.. thanks
*
Well to talk about retail prices, yes like A550 was eventually expensive in body (although the price on China, Japan site was selling in different price point and they offer the kit lens) compared to Nikon D90 making others to really consider a lacking on maximizing low ISO features (ISO 100), less customize, lacking important features but high speed capture, average IQ (overall good High ISO IQ and amazing HDR image capture) would be a pick to their pocket or not

most likely A300/A350 still delivers good IQ on outdoor shooting and from technical perspective, the so called Sky Noise problem on A300/A350 was less noticeable compared to A450/A500/A550

if you likely to go perhaps... erm err and yeah willing to have a try on second hand, I guess give an A300/A350 (wanted to sell my one >.<) a try biggrin.gif

Zen-X: Sounds like gear stripping. Your lens is spoiled. If you don't agree to the price of repair, the kit lens is sold for cheap.

eddybeh: Best you go there and ask. Not like you can clean fungus anywhere else anyway, only these shops do it. If you send to any other camera shop they will send to these repair shops anyway.

cjlai: I'm not talking about focusing in a room with the lights off - there was an event which I shot and the client was sitting outdoors, outside the restaurant. You could still see them with your eyes, but through the viewfinder it was just too dark to see if it was in focus or not with a F3.5 lens. The camera AF ended up focusing on a rattan chair but I could not see this at this kind of darkness. Obviously I cannot be focusing on a corner with light because that was already out of the plane of focus.

kmarc: Yes, the 18-250mm and 50mm F1.8 makes a good duo.

neo_lam: Nice!

if you're on a budget in the long run, I sugest you get the a450/a500/a550. it's a much better investment than the a380. not sure about the D3000... it's a bit small for me. if you have a small hand, it should be ok. but, if not, then don't bother... it's seriously is uncomfortable to have my pinkie finger hanging below the camera grip while shooting. Maybe by getting a vertical grip would solve the problem. but then it would mean more investment. might as well get a camera that is comfortable in your hands and invest more for lenses.

And when it comes to lenses, Sony lenses and accessories are quite cheaper than either N or C. but N or C have more variety when it comes to accessories and third party lenses. But, Sony cameras can use Minolta lenses that have a wider variety of ranges. and it's cheaper! biggrin.gif

So, it is really up to you. if you're on a budget, get the sony. If you don't mind spending more in the long run, get the Nikon. But please... don't get the D3000. unless you don't mind waiting a while to preview your picture after you take it and having your pinkie finger hanging off the camera when using it.

Very comprehensive & useful albnok.
Nice job...
Maybe can put at 1st page as the myth that Sony lenses are much more expensive than C&N keeps coming up time and again... Need to bust that myth for good (with facts).
