QUOTE(coolio2199 @ Jan 4 2010, 09:21 PM) i think it means lenses tat will suits me well for those instant shots i wanna take wherever i go (at least for myself ba) most of d time kitlens will do just fine i gues...18-55mm. if want better bokeh then can go for 17-50mm f2.8. if wanna shoot something far away always then can go for zoom lenses... |

QUOTE(lugiamcg @ Jan 10 2010, 06:35 PM) lol, thx 4 the info but i'm a beginner. Is it alright to have the a550? is it complicated to use its GUI? From wad i read, reviews said that the a230 has a new GUI which is noob-userfrendly =D ie: suits me. not sure bout A550 but A230's GUI really quite beginner friendly...it's a cheap n nice beginner DSLR, but i'd suggest going for a higher level A450 or A550 for a start too, it really last longer. |

hmm...my fren's gonna get a dslr soon buy he's bugged with a question that im interested to know too...
we noticed that Ns' and Cs' have the image stabilizer built into their lens, while Alpha's have it inside the body... but does IS on lens has advantage over IS in body, or are they on par? other than d obvious fact that IS in lens allows u to see d stabilizing effect in ur viewfinder and IS in body doesnt...?? |

QUOTE(Sp00kY @ Jan 12 2010, 07:55 PM) IS/VR benefits: heavy and expensive hhahhaa oo...i see i see..but what does it means by those steps/stops actually?? it is means by 1/X of d shutter speed or something??some IS/VR is up to 4 stops...but mostly 3 stops if IINM A500/A550 Claimed equivalent to 2.5 – 3.5 steps in shutter speed A700 Claimed equivalent to 2.5 – 4 steps in shutter speed A900 Claimed equivalent to 4 steps in shutter speed from dpreview.... Frankly, i prefer the hansign warning in the VF (for sony) than the vibrating VR/IS Some say VR/IS is better than SSS but i find both equally good:) |

QUOTE(achew @ Jan 12 2010, 08:06 PM) i've come across alot ppl claiming that SSS is inferior to VR/IS..well..they might be true as i have nothing to prove them wrong..but again..SSS is more than enough for me to produce a stable shot..so i havnt feel the need for "betteR" stabilizer ya i agree that SSS is good enough...i've also compared some shots with my fren's 450D before and i found that d natural handshake (both of us) doesnt affect d pic we took until 1/40 sec on both SSS and his IS too..so i guess both IS in lens or in body are lebih kurang only...but IS price kills off d interest of getting a C for sure..(in my fren's case =p) thanks achew sifu... i did a simple test along side my operator's D90..my a300 and my technician's 5Dm2..all of us were shooting at 150mm(if i remember correctly) and 2 of them with their VR/IS on..we exchange our cameras a few times as well as increase the aperture(so that the shutter slow down)..we don feel much diff there.....so i assume even SSS is not as good as those 2..it shdnt be too far behind either.. and i know this test wasnt very accurate as we dont have a "standard" to measure the results..all of the results were based on our "feel"...and it might b diff from user to user... |

QUOTE(ieR @ Jan 12 2010, 08:25 PM) SSS works on ALL lens, that is the marvelous of it. 1/20 at 200mm try find a IS/VR on 50mm prime, or 135prime on others. but my opinion, SSS works great for really slow shutter, like 1/10 on 18mm, up to 50mm, then 1/20 for 100mm-200mm. try ask IS/VR on 1/20 on 200mm. (200mm = 1/200ss, 1/20 is 3+1/3 stop) or was that because my hand is stable? that i can shoot 1/20 on 200mm =.= Added on January 12, 2010, 8:29 pmachew: for some reason, i am not looking at FF yet... (mostly is from albnok's scolding to me... lol) i find that, the FF's are very very basic function,... missing all the fun fun function on lower model... |
